New addition to the family

My wife and I just picked up an 05 545i. I've always thought BMW's were way overpriced until I drove one. I love the power this thing has and could only image the M series. I told my wife I may try to get a M3 next year in place of the 8. The first pic is the day we brought it home. My wife picked out the wheels the following week and I could not resist making a fibergalss box for the trunk. Enjoy the pics....more to come.

Thanks....I wasn't to sure how 20's would look on it. I was thinking it was going to raise the car to much but it actually sits about the same. I plan on doing more to the interior and exterior. No need to mess with the engine cause it has enough power for the wife.

Thanks....my wife did good picking them out. The fronts are 8.5" with a 3" lip and the rears are 9.5" with a 4" lip. The tires are 255/35R20 and 275/30R20.

Beautiful car.

But sorry, I'm not digging the wheels, not on a 4 door sedan.

That is nice. Those rims are kickass and fit the style of the 5-series well.

it was the uber low prof tires you put on, the rolling diameter probably didnt change too much.

great car and nice rims. your wife has taste for the bling.

Very nice. The stock BMW rims were nice too but sure looked small, but it looks like the tires in the rear aren't wide enough for the 9.5" rims.

Very great car and congrats!

However, I'm not feeling the rims at all, but I see you said your wife picked them out.

Enjoy the 5.

Nice Bimmer. My gf's dad has a 2008 528XI with cold weather package and quite a few other options. Very nice ride. Did BMW revise the iDrive for the 08 models? I'm loving the 08 shifter also .

I don't mind BMW's, but are you sure about this? I drove my friend's M3 for a while and while it was nice, I don't think it compare to my FI RX-8. The M3 is a sporty sedan. But my car (with RB swaybars) has less body roll, felt more connected to the road, and my car is faster, while costing less than his.

No one choice is the absolute best, but be sure you are really evaluating the platform before you just assume it's good due to brand name or marketing hype.

Not sure cause ours is an 05 model. We test drove a 08 535i and loved it but it was to much for our blood.....$52,000. I talked her into getting a used 545i. We found one we liked and agreed to ride and take a look at it. The dealer was asking $27,999 for it. Only problem was they told us it had navi but it didn't. After my wife complained the dealer knocked off another $1000. The car had less than 50k on it and we got it for $30,000 out the door....that included a 2 year extended warrenty we added. I had one of my friends who works as an ins fraud investigtor check the VIN......no accidents.

I love my 8 but I'm still considering moving on. Since I don't care to FI my 8 it will always be slower than a stock M3 and I know there are aftermarket upgrades that will improve what you feel the M3 is lacking. Anyway....I'll still have my camden supercharged 91 RX7 sitting in the garage.

Im a big fan of BMW, their warranty and service puts most other brands to shame, you are smart to buy extended warranty. very sexy, I love it. congrats.

The car feels great and I love the power it has. So far the only thing that's been a issue is the sunroof makes a "pop" noise when it is tilted up.....does not do it when fully opened. One of my friends who is a BMW service advisor told me to drop it off and he will have a tech fix it under warrenty. He also told me he will give me a loaner car......hope it's something nice. I want to add some boltons but my wife is against it cause we just got the car. She'll eventually give in like she always does. I'd love to add a Dinan chip, exhaust and an intake. BTW last time I was at the dealership there was a sweet B7 Alpina sitting on the lot.
