G6 - Thoughts?
There will be a coupe and a convertible version, and a "GXP" version with almost 300 horses and AWD.
This summer only the sedan will be available in base and "GT" trim. Next spring most of the models will be out, and the GXP a year or so after that.
Pricing should be similar to the Grand Am (which it replaces) at the low end, going all the way up to 30,000 for the GXP --- look for a spread similar to the Impreza to WRX, price and feature wise.
The G6 shares its underpinnings with the Chevy Malibu and Saab 9-3, so it gets an OHV 3.5L engine from the Malibu in one trim level, and Saab's manual transmissions in other trim levels.
As far as a 2-door coupe with a 4-cyl. - that won't come out till next spring, and until then the Grand Am 4-cyl. coupe will sell alongside the G6.

GT: 3.9L VVT OHV V6 / 6-speed manual
What do you think? Will it be worthy to compete with the 6?

Go Texas Longhorns!
its a hell of alot better looking than anything else pontiac has right now, not a big fan of the steering wheel but I'll have to drive one just outta curiousity.

Wasn't Pontiac supposed to have a RWD sedan to complement the G6?
IMO, Pontiac has come a long way in terms of styling. Ever since the F-Body died, Pontiac has come up with some really styling alternatives, such as the GTO, and this car. Hopefully, they will release the Solstice soon; I love roadsters. :D
In comparison with the Mazda 6, I think the 6 will edge it in terms of subtlety. The G6 looks kind of looks like a cross between the previous generation Accord, and the old Acura CL. But hey, Pontiac is making better cars.

I like it--I was actually an undercover fan of the last Grand Am GT--it just didn't have the muscle that it should have had. The G6 is a step in the right direction for Pontiac--unfortunately the GTO only succeded on paper.

I thought it actually looked alot better in those commercials when you couldn't actually what the car looked like. :p
300hp sounds really great and all, but if it's a Pontiac it will weigh like 4000lbs, so I'm not really sure how fast it will actually be...

The styling takes Pontiac into a new era. Nicely done and comparable to many Japanese competition.
The powertrain is old technology but tuned for nice output. Too bad no 5sp auto and no Navi.
The GT would make a good daily driver and a great rental car. I would be interested in buying a higher trim for myself if a coupe is available. It reminds me of a Mazda 6.
