I used to own an FD and that has never flooded on me. I would wait to warm up a little before driving and also do a "cool off" idle when I get to my destination. I've driven it "cold" plenty of times and shut it off, but have never flooded. I know flooding occurs on the 7s, especially from reading on the rx7club.com, but I'm trying to find out whether flooding on the 13B is as common as flooding on the Renesis. Anyone?

My 88 7 cnvt flooded once. Flooding has always been an issue with rotaries. It doesn't seem like it's any worse (or better?) with the 8.

Would the side ports exacerbate the problem (trapping fuel better)?

I know rotaries have flooding issues (heck even some pistons do too), but is it my imagination or does it seem that the Renesis is more prone to flooding...like G-Rex mentioned..I wonder if it has anything to do with the location of the ports.

I mean, Mazda never considered flooding to be much of an issue: I don't believe they ever mentioned or sent out packages regarding flooding. I can't find it anywhere in the manual either. (For the Rx-7s that is)

I've owned 3 rx7s, which do have flooding problems... Although, none of em have ever flooded on me. My 8 has yet to flood as well... Let's keep things that way. I think a big problem is that people don't drive their rotaries hard enough to burn everything out. Carbon deposits will build up in the engine if you drive like a grandma. Drive hard, blow everything out and burn all your fuel!

When I was testdriving cars for my first car one happened to be a FC TII, it flooded during the testdrive and they had to come pick me up. They even had the car running when I arrived for the testdrive which led me to believe something was a little fishy with the car. Not sure if it was common but I have some firsthand experience with it.

Actually, some of the nicest and most helpful car people I have met are Porsche Club of America members. And yes, plenty of them open it up...

I had three RX-7's and now an RX-8. No flooding. All four cars very reliable.

Flooded my '84 once, but I think the carb had alittle to do with it.

Anyway...

I just wanted to comment on people telling other people how they should drive THEIR cars. Ummm, did you pay for THEIR car? If not (while I understand that buying a Vette and never playing with it does not seem to make sense) you really don't have the right to tell someone else how to drive their car. I'm not trying to be mean or anything but it can be a little immature to tell others how to drive THEIR cars.

Again...while I do understand your point, but if someone spent THEIR money...they can do with it or drive it as they wish while we might not understand it.

"RIch ****** buy Porsches" My dad use to own a 911, and my brother has a Boxster S and has a deposit on a 997 Cabriolet that he's trading his Boxster in on. Porsche driver's open them up all the time; in fact they are typically some of the most hardcore auto afficionados out there.

5 RX-7s (now I only own 3) the only time one of them flothed was do to low compresion.

...and I've heard they welcome other makes to many of their events. True sportsmen. I've also seen track day reports posted by RX8 owners where they
mention the 4 or 5 vettes who were running that day.

Basically, Porsche and vette owners aren't riceboyz...unlike the dipshit who thinks they never "open it up" because he's never been to a track day.

I've seen plenty of Porsche guys "open it up." And flooding is mostly a cold weather problem. So obviously it's not going to happen to someone who lives in Texas, Southern California, Florida, etc. I see all these people from warm climates who say, "Flooding has never been a problem for me." Well no **** it's not a problem for u.
