Note: Non-transferrable.
They are counting on the fact that almost no-one owns a car for more than 5-6 years. The very few who do will cost them little and the sales boost provided from the marketing ploy will be worth it.

Would have cost them some coin on my folks Sebring which ate it. It died of sludge build up with about 100k miles. It amused me because we always had the car serviced at the dealer and they acted surprised when it happened. Even though the car had been in for low oil pressure a couple times, which they said was just a pressure switch. Car was out of warranty, so they wanted us to pay for an entirely new engine. My dad sued the dealer and won a few bucks and the dealer bought the car back.
A **** company all around. There is a reason Mercedes didn't want to be identified with them any longer. I would never walk near a Chrysler dealership, let alone buy a Chrysler product. They can warranty that.

I hear you and you are within your rights (Which is probably why your father won the litigation), but I will never go with the manufacturer's oil change intervals.

Good call CS. Manufacturers recommendations are based on perfect conditions as well as E.P.A. requirements. Experience has shown that doing things the old fashioned way will yield many, many years and miles from a drivetrain.

*See dealer for a copy of limited warranty and details. Non-Transferable.
Not available on SRT and certain fleet vehicles. On purchases begining 7/26/07
Is there a list?
And the message I get from that is,,,,,,,, The powertrains suck.

I think that this is the first step Chrysler needs to do in order to get sales back since their recent severence from Daimler. Chrysler needs Lots and Lots of customers to get back in the game and if this means taking a hit on some cars due to long warranties, then I guess this is what needs to be done.

Don't forget all the halo-effect money they will be getting when the cars come in for their mandatory inspections.
I think this is a smart move on their part.
An Atlanta Toyota dealership offers something very similar (Mall of Georgia Toyota) and they get you by requiring a perfect attendance record for all of the scheduled maintenance at their dealership. They also put billboards advertising this lifetime power train warranty up in front of all the competing Toyota dealers around Atlanta.
