Chevy Colorado loaner
I didn't know what a Colorado was until I picked one up for the day while something with the evap system was being fixed on the RX-8.
I was bored and stumbled across this review...

I call BS, lol. Mine was the Z71 package with the 3500 and auto tranny. It had to downshift like two gears to go up a hill at 50 that the RX8 goes up in sixth. It would definitely keep me from getting speeding tickets on the highway though. It didn't feel quite as stable as the RX-8. It also looks like the 3.5 liter gets better gas mileage then the eight, hehe..
Anyway sometimes you need to drive another vehicle to truly appreciate the RX-8
Edit:
Car and Driver sure liked it.

Our test vehicle, a bright yellow LS with an extended cab, drew a lot of looks, and not just for its color. Squatting low to the ground, with plastic trim that resembles what kids buy at absurd prices and stick onto their Hondas, the Colorado looked as though it had been heavily customized. And so it was - by General Motors, which added almost-well-fitting plastic trim to the base Colorado, as well as a sport suspension and an optional 220 horsepower 3.5 liter straight-five engine. The result was a pickup that handles and accelerates like a sports car.

I've driven the 5 spd with no extra pkgs. It's a decent truck but certainly a no frills utilitarian vehicle. Most roundups i've seen place it in the back of the pack among similiar pickups.
