I got rear-ended while X-mas shopping (Calgary)
I'm having a great year with this car...
-2 flat tires
-2 cracks in the windshield
-car got keyed...just got it back about 3 weeks and now this while I was trying to avoid running a red light. It was the other drivers fault, he rear-ended me hard.
My car ended up flying through the intersection because of the shear impact. I was very lucky not to have been T-boned by on-coming traffic.

Oh man ... that looks rough. I could see it happening when it's slippery but in dry weather like we are having now .. this just sucks. Do you know what has to be replaced for sure. To me, the bumper and trunk have to go.

The damage is extensive.
I think everything in the back has to be replaced.
Headlights, black plastic underneath (it broke off), bumber, trunk, etc.

Sorry to hear about your damages. The guy who hit you was probably too busy with his shopping list or his cell phone to notice traffic. The xmas shopping season does not bring out the best behavior.
Do you have any injuries?
Keep everyone up to date on the repairs to your car.

I'm doing OK. My neck is somewhat sore right now, it snapped back in the seat pretty hard.
I don't have whiplash, just soreness.
The airbags did not deploy. It was a straight-on rear end which did not crumple the interior. I think the impact would have had to been twice the impact I received.
The insurance process is underway and on-going.
MazdaSpeed would be nice....unfortunately, I don't have that kinda cash right now.

only thing avail is the rear diffuser which is the plasticy bottom of the bumper(Where the chrome triangle goes) not the bumper itself.. they actually have to cut the plastic off the stock bumper to put the new piece on.. kinda stupid but if done well looks nice..
and that sucks for your accident i got rear ended a while back.. i was going to get the mazdaspeed piece but decided not to because i still would have had to buy a stock bumper which defeated the purpose of the fix.. lol.. and getting hit in the back throws you forward then back pretty good, and i didn't even get hit hard..
