Labrat,
I think you're the comedian :p , poor StratoMike will be gutted!
As for musical talents, I can play the bagpipes (no I don't mean biting a cat's tail while squeezing it's stomach! ) but only when intoxicated (like BVD was last night) :D .

Oh, this is about musicians!
I thought it was about those cheap Korean 4WDs with the old merc motors. :D
Now I understand.
As for me...couldn't carry a tune if it had handles but my ears love it.

The threads all have headers on them - just skip what doesn't interest you. I read less than a third of the threads here, and it doesn't seem like any sort of problem. Forums like this aren't formal debating chambers or parliaments (actually the behaviour is probably better than parliaments...) they're more like pubs.
I've never understood why some people get upset about this kind of thing, and then try to tell everybody else to "post here" "post there" "use the search engine", "we've already talked about that 6 months ago" etc.
But I'm willing to listen. Please tell us why you think this is worth hassling people about. If you have a compelling reason, maybe it'll fly.

Seriously - If you want to discuss handling of offtopic posts in the Australian forum then start a new thread. That way others can contribute their views in somewhere they expect to. I'm not discussing it further on this thread.

Good idea Michael. Thanks for bracketing me with those who have musical talents. My take is that I have musical instruments and the talent is still in the mail.. should be here any day now... :D
Vicki and I used to put on DIY entertainment nights when we lived in Fremantle and they were a lot of fun.
We haven't done it for a few years, but we're thinking of starting them up again as we have a good range of mates with plenty of nerve and a fair range of talents.
We'd put 2 or 3 tables in a line in our lounge-room and put on a heap of food and drink. Then everybody would perform whatever they felt like doing. We opened the french doors at one end of the room and made a small enclosed "stage" on the verandah. It worked well.
We had singers (two or three of whom were semi-pros), musicians, some friends who read a poem or just some short piece they thought was good value, others told jokes, etc. Some just had the job of being an appreciative audience. Anyway, "amateur comedian" StratoMike would have been very welcome.
It does take a bit of organising though - many of us had theatre experience, but some others could be hard to persuade to do their thing. However, once they saw how easy-going it all was they often regretted not having been a bit bolder. It was necessary to keep pushing a bit at the start, and get people to agree to do something and then put a bit of preparation in - so that it wasn't a complete shambles - but the results were well worth it.
Good luck. Sorry I won't be at the Nats. Oh, and love the drums too, I'll check the local shops for equivalents.

There's something infectious and irresistible about a smile, and heck, I am just soooo jealous of people with that sort of range of musical ability.
I'm coming late to having a serious go at playing music, but boy it's a wonderful journey. I drool at music shop windows the way some people drool at car showrooms or jewelry shops....
Maybe it's time for an avatar change....
