Microtech ECU
Good Dae mates,
Would like to check if anyone has installed them in their rides? I am not too sure if the company has released it for your 8s down under but i heard microtech's by far the best management for rotary.
Anybirdy comments or advice?

Well Microtech I think has one out but no one here have install one yet.
Motec, on the other hand, is the most popular among us... and certainly it is a waste of money until you FI your car.
Save the money until you doing the FI ... I will go Motec - since I know a good Motec tuner both in piston and rotary in Melbourne. So my simple plan is to wait for the HKS supercharger, import and tuned with Motec by a reputable piston dealer/ unless there is a good F Con V Pro tuner in Melbourne.
Then go to the rotary one to learn how to tune it to perfect condition
I might be crazy enough to spend time and money to their seminar to tune Motec too! :p
People will ask me when ... I think my daughter will be leaving home at the same time :D

as taka suggested, no point getting an aftermarket stand alone ecu without going FI. but if you do, spend a little more and go with motec, unless you are mates with a microtech tuner (which you will realise later on that it can save you quite abit of $$$ in tuning )

a lot of the rotary guys here in the us i met (down in teh south eastern us) liked teh microtech's...never really got into a discussion about them (ther were no FI options out or even mentioned at that time)......but i don't know of any microtech tuners here in the states (close to me) adn i wouldn't really trust myself to do it...seeming how i have zero exsperience doing tunes...so i would go with motec.....more peopel seem to know about how to tune them here.
haha but it must be nice living where some nice standalone ecu's are made...lucky buggers :p

Taka:
MoTeC is a pain in the a** to get it right though... You will really need to use MoTeC to get the base map first on your car because you move onto the FI, then from there, you tune for the FI.... otherwise you will not know how to even get the idle right correctly.. and you will surely need an EXPERT to do the job with motec from my painful experiences... I know have my car tuned by Simon at Nizpro... and he is doing a great job after their installations on s TT zeds (spent 50K each for the R&D)... and now I am running the plug and play motec in my car.... pulling out quite a good number on the dynodynamic dyno (220rwKW) and 200rwKW on Nizpro's dyno (which is very similar to their pull on a standard F355- 205rwkw)....
No matter what computer you use, a good and experienced tuner is the most important key with the stand alone computer because you are directly playing with the life of your engine... And of course..... as what Taka said... MoTeC is still the best stand alone....
cheers,
richie

Swt! Thanks for the info...
My future setup will most prolly include the Trust Kit and i was hoping with Micro, i can upsize the turbo and gradually tune to maintain safe usage.
I think it was LT8S dat was made for the 8, however i also heard it was not released due instability...Well, if ther's a microtec xpert here dat would like to chip in, dat w'd be awesome! Not reaali into standalones as i heard some of the original components controlled by the stock Ecu may be lost? E.G, DSC, cabin control?
Stand to be corrected?
Cheers

And he can start with no base map, if required. That is what I would call a true EXPERT.

Cheap as chips really... :D
I will wait for the price drop - just like the Fairlady Z kit as 60% of the original price now.
I will import them in.
Any idea if they use the HKS V Con pro or other to tune it?

As I know, there is no one in VIC that can tune V-Pro though... I wanted to ask HyperTech to do the V-Pro, but they told me that there was no one in VIC that could do the job...
Although the HKS supercharger kit comes with a pre-tune hks piggy back computer, I guess we still need someone to tune the car up to suit aussie fuel...
Also found out that you should be able to use AEM Wolf 3D to tune the Rotary though... I know one shop in Ringwood who is an authorised dealer of AEM... and they tune rotrary engine as well as cylinder engines... two of my friends' bmw are all tuned there (V8 3 series and a 325i 6 throttle-body engine) with AEM Wolf 3D...
here is the link that I found online: http://www.rankrotary.com.au/wolf.htm

richie

Oh ....
Your engine has set up from the base by MoTec has it?
I guess I just have to do the hard yard for the HKS Rortex. Start it off blank then... well - it is still 2 years away from the end of warranty and there may be an HKS tuner then
