From day one my center console door when I have a drink in the cup holder slides closes when ever I step on the brakes. Should it latch in the open position?

Yes it should latch. Mine was faulty/broken and replaced under warranty.

 

Yeah its just one those bugs that the 8s seem to have. I have an 04 mt, and i just recently decided to get the center console replaced. Since day one it has never latched and I can think of a few times that ive had spilled drinks over it. One other thing that commen in hot weather to break is the sunvisors, my driver one broke recently also. It will split I guess from the heat and the wiring will pop out. If the wiring breaks then your electronics can go crazy. Its just a couple poorly engineered things but the rest of the car is genius. Im not complaining or whining at all im just informing.

But ya get it replaced

 

Even if it breaks after warranty it's a cheap part......$35 range.

I've replaced mine twice..once under warranty...and once cause I broke it doing something stupid ( but fun )
