Hello fellow rx8 owners. I have an 04 rx8. I am having some torubles with it and I wanted to see if you guys new the answers to some of my problems. There is probably a thread on this, but I am a new user and I dont have time right now to look through the 43 pages; please help me.

First, sometimes my AC, when on the cold setting, blows out hot air. Once I turn the *** to hot and then cold it comes out cold again. This happens two to three times while I am driving. Was there a recall on this problem? How can I get this fixed.

Another major problem is my car dies on me, literally. When I am at a light in neutral it starts shaking really bad and then dies. This sucks so much. I have never gotten my CPU flashed with the newest mod. The only engine mod I have is a cold air AEM intake. Could that be the problem? I have also had my starter fixed because it would not crank.

Long story short, I voided my warranty. So going through a dealer for these problems is gonna be alot of money. If you guys know who i can go to and how I can fix these two problems it would be great.

How did you void your warranty??.or did a dealer tell you you voided your warranty

Get the recall done...and see what happens. Might want to replace your stock air box assembly just to simplify things

 

Well long story, so here it goes. I went to a MAzda dealer in tampa because my engine light was on. So when i asked him to check it he asked me if i had any performance mods. I told him all i had was AEM cold air intake, greddy SP2 exhaust, veilside body kit, and seibon carbon fiber hood. He told me that my modifications had voided my warranty. I was arguing with him for a long time but i got no where. So i went to another dealer and they cleared the CEL under warranty. A couple months later i needed to go back for new spark plugs because my engine was flooding and the dealer that fixed my CEL told me that my car was on the black list and that someone from another dealership had told mazda about my modifications and they had voided my warranty. SO i went back to the dealership in tampa and he said that he told mazda and they made the decisions to void the warranty on my entire car. This is such BULLSHIT!! SO there is the story.

 

Ask them who your lawyer should talk to... that's total BS - they can't void your entire warranty.

I have never recieved a recall letter. There is two dealerships that i go to both in tampa. fl. One is on florida ave and one in on kennedy blvd. Dont go to them, they suck.

 

Isn't the mazdaspeed intake a copy of the AEM, so if the mazdaspeed intake won't void your warranty why would the AEM do. That dealership sucks, even when I had my typhoon intake on my dealer didn't say nothing.

 

Perhaps a call to Mazda North America is in order. The dealership has absolutely no authority to do this. I have the AEM cold air intake on my car and all my dealer said was it sounds really good. If Mazda North America does nothing, unfortunately you're going to have to get a lawyer on your side. It's an easy case for you to win, but they won't let it get to court. You shouldn't have to put up with some dealer being a dick unnecessarily.

 

Oh, and after this is all over, stick around! This site is a really good resource, and most of the people here are really helpful. Everyone that is, except Abbid. He just found out what an RX-8 is a couple days ago.

 

dont know of anyone that has recieved one in fla yet... they started doing the work sept 15.

It may be worth your time to do a little searching on this site especially for other threads where the Magnuson Moss Act is discussed. You also my want to review this link:

Then take this information and go have another little chat with your dealer to have them specify how they believe you have voided your warranty.

 

They cannot void your warranty for Air intake, Exhaust or whatever

UNLESS THEY CAN PROOF THAT THOSE ITEMS IS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE.

Tell them this, if they dont show you any prove that the parts you have is/are the cause of the Check engine light/Failure. No when I say proof I dont mean because *the service manager said so*, Im saying actual Proof that can take it to the court. If they dont give you your warranty back, tell them that wait for your lawyer to contact them.

Alot of times dealership make bullshit up to fool mazda, and mazda has no choice but to believe them, this is a sad part. but you can always contact mazda right now to talk about this issue, if they still instist about your void warranty, have a lawyer after both of them. Maybe you can get some nice deal outa it !

You will win the case, so dont worry. what you gotta do is fight for it.

I have K&N intake, RB ram airduct. So? running it I think almost a year, nothing wrong. I had a failed cat, both rear light has water in it, all tsb including brakes which I *fixed* it 3 times(still squeal but forget it), No problems.

 

Thanks guys for all the help. I was arguing with the dealer for over an hour and he kept telling me that i had voided my warranty. He said that the parts that i have installed on my car could be a reason for my CEL being on. I told him that that was bogus. He inisist that he was right and like a dick he told mazda about my performance mods. When i went back to him he told me to put all oriiginal parts on the car and that he would take pictures and send them to "headquarters" and they would reinstate my warranty. He was just a jealous old man because i am an 18 year old with a better looking and nicer car than his entire family. I will keep you guys updated on my situation. I am going to a dealrship in orlando because i live up there now and see what they have to say and if they will reinstate my warranty.

If you send me a private e-mail with your vin number I will run it for you to check your warranty status. I am a service manager at a Mazda dealer. The CAI could very well be why your CEL is on. This whole picture taking thing is ridiclous though. They cant "void" your warranty like that. Someones BSing you...

your car had a cel... the second dealer cleared it. what was the cel #. is should be on the paperwork you got when you picked up your car.
