The front is a little too rice for my tastes but i was looking for a nice black rocker and rear under. XDEEDUBBX 08-22-2006, 11:07 AM that would be a negative Moostafa29 08-22-2006, 11:42 AM Pos. Tamas 08-22-2006, 12:05 PM WTF is wrong with people, putting those ugly pieces on a nice car? (shakes head) The Mighty Red 08-22-2006, 12:14 PM Pos. Why do you say that? Poor quality? If it's made well and fits right - I think it would work quite nicely considering CF's strength, light weight and impact resistance. Match it up with the Carbon Fiber Fenders (front quarter panels) and doors and parkinglot "dings" would be a thing of the past. Paint it all to match and you should be "good to go." But then my experience with carbon fiber is limited and I could be wrong. snowrydr01 08-22-2006, 12:39 PM I wanted black rockers and rear under, so rather then have a body shop have to paint anything, why not go with a clear coated carbon? If the fit is good its still cheaper then buying a poor quality MS style fiberglass and having a shop do a bunch of work to get the finish good. Tamas 08-22-2006, 01:58 PM It will still have that (IMO) ugly CF look and wavy surface... how does that compare to a professionally paint-matched piece? Granted, I severely dislike the way carbon fiber pieces look, so I'm definitely biased :D: Regarding the "poor quality MS-style fiberglass", that's the problem right there. Personally, I would never even consider anything like that to be installed on my car, even if it is dirt cheap. If I'd want to get any body kit, I'd rather save for a high quality one instead of getting some crappy fiberglass replica that's a pain to install and will never look right - plus it breaks at the first touch. NgoRX8 08-22-2006, 02:00 PM too much carbonfiber. snowrydr01 08-22-2006, 02:01 PM i agree with you on the fiberglass replica whole heartedly. However, i would want a flack black rocker, so buying the real MS speed kit just to have it re painted flat is a little silly. snowrydr01 08-22-2006, 02:01 PM a rocker panel is too much Carbon? thats way less then anyone here with just a hood. silverwolf 08-22-2006, 02:02 PM so no takers? haha dont blame the skepticism IZoomZoomI 08-22-2006, 02:05 PM if thats carbon fiber thats too cheap for cf. Wouldn't be too bad of an option if you paint over it lol. Tamas 08-22-2006, 02:05 PM i agree with you on the fiberglass replica whole heartedly. However, i would want a flack black rocker, so buying the real MS speed kit just to have it re painted flat is a little silly.Well, if I'm not mistaken, there are unpainted urethane MS replica pieces available for a reasonable price - don't know if they are good quality or not, but maybe that's the way to go then. overdrive 08-22-2006, 06:12 PM I wouldn't go for the urethane replicas... I bought one and the front and back bumper were so flimsy, if I would of put it on it probably would of warped in a week with how hot it gets down here. That and it had so many pits where they didn't clean out the mold. And that is why it's sitting in my house, and I am waiting on my fiberglass pieces. PS: The sideskirts were actually pretty sturdy so I am still going to put those on. I ordered my urethane from vision autodynamics. I would not recommend their kits... my 2 cents. But then my experience with carbon fiber is limited and I could be wrong. I say that because I don't think its the real thing, and I'd feel sorry for anyone who got it and expected little to no problems out of it. XDEEDUBBX 08-22-2006, 09:58 PM its just fiberglass with cf overlayed on it... NgoRX8 08-22-2006, 10:14 PM the problem with this is if it doesn't fit.. you are screwed. the cf layer over the fiberglass will make it more impact resistant, but it will not flex even the slightest anymore. and you can't fix it with fiberglass unless you decide on painting over it. The Mighty Red 08-24-2006, 09:27 AM buying the real MS speed kit just to have it re painted flat is a little silly. Actually, you can buy the MS kit in primer so you can paint it the color you want. "Body color painted Side Skirts with Gun Metallic accents. Parts are made from MettonŽ liquid molding resign for increased durability. Also available in primer finish with Gun Metallic accents already painted and masked." Check it out... http://www.mazdausa.com/MusaWeb/speedDisplayAccessoryDetail.action?endModelYear=20 05&speedAccessoryId=79&carLineCode=RX8&startModelYear=2004&categoryId=1 Gambit 08-24-2006, 11:35 AM interesting how there are no pics of it actually ON the car snowrydr01 08-24-2006, 11:37 AM I like it for the back and rockers. I emailed the original C-Wings place requesting pics on a car, to my suprise they have not responded. (note the sarcasm) Speedtoys 08-24-2006, 11:24 PM Why do you say that? Poor quality? But then my experience with carbon fiber is limited and I could be wrong. CF doesnt prevent door dings. You can still just as simply chip away chunks of paint and excess epoxy..and excess expoxy is what ricer parts are ALL about..that nice deep glooooosy look, not the proper nearly rough..properly evacuated of all un-necessary epoxy finish. snowrydr01 08-28-2006, 06:50 AM So someone bid on this, now we just have to hope it was a member to give us a fitment critique. |
