There was a guy I went to Tech w/that owned one. Sweet cars even if they're slow. Can't say they aren't unique.

I always wanted a DeLorean. One of my goals to own one someday, but those that are in good condition are scarce and then very expensive.
I saw one a couple of months ago on the freeway behind me, closing on. It is such an unlikely low car, was way cool to see that flat front approaching.
There is also some old guy in my neighborhood who has one and I see it once in a while driving around. Sadly, the car is in a pretty bad shape though... :(

My best friend has one. Talk about a money pit. He has spent so much money on this car just trying to keep it going that he could have got a very nice car by now. But it's a car he loves and you do get looks when driving one.

Yeah, you can buy a restored one, or a "new, old" one, built with all new parts from the old plant for around 30-40

I'm from that generation where when Back to The Future came out when I was at a very impressionable age, and just starting to really get into cars. I saw all three movies in the theatre, and can remember my Dad taking me to see the first one in 1985. I dreamed of that car, and I actually considered ordering up a new remanufactured Delorean from Texas this year. I decided hat the dream needs to be put on hold, and went with an 06 S2000, but I WILL own one of those cars one day. It brings back so many childhood memories, and I used to dream as a kid to own one of them. It makes no difference how the car performs, it's all about history and sentimentality.

BTW, I talk to John Delorean several times years back. In College I was a lifeguard at a health and fitness club. John Amos (Good Times) and John Delorean were regular members there. John always came to swim laps, but it took months before I ever knew who he was, yet I had small talk with him all the time. I always wanted to ask him if he had one of his cars stored away somewhere that he kept, but I never had to gonads to ask that or anything about that car company. it was all fitness, and swim talk. :)

I don't know if it is true or not as my stepdad told me about it. On one of the "educational" channels like Discovery or something there was a show about the DeLorean and allegedly there were warehouses full of them that were still brand new and left over unsold from years ago and you could buy them brand new now for like $26,000 still. :dunno:

I told him that didn't sound right because I know someone who has been trying to find one in fairly decent shape for awhile and hasn't been able to. I'm sure if they were available to get somewhere brand new that had never sold he would have found them and bought one by now. I have always heard how rare and hard to find they were. I was at work or I would have come out of my "area" at home and watched the show had I known it was on.

EDIT: Guess I should have kept reading. LOL The "new" rebuilt ones sound more like what I figured he was talking about as I have heard of being able to buy a kit DeLorean basically, but not the "original."
