go check on the web site. go into mazda. and look for the gear nob.

i just did order one for my car from richie. it will look very nice for sure. and i think after you use. the more you rub it the colour goes to blue. then if you don't use it for a while, then the colour come back to the colour on the photo.

you can placed an order at www.equibs.com.

its ok its on a 350Z coz it will fit the RX8 also. coz Z and 8 are both 10mm.

Have a look guys.

I've had a titanium gear knob on mine since last October and it's neither too hot nor too cold. In fact, I find it just right. :) Much better than the stock knob IMHO.

Mind you, mine is just a plain Auto-Exe one - it doesn't change colour when you rub it. :uhh:

is it a screw on type? much like the stock knob?
i'm thinking of getting a new one as my current one is a bolt on and tends to get loose and needs tightening up time to time..

Assuming that's directed at me playa, yes it is. Screws straight on and weighs about the same too.

Even I managed to successfully instal it. :o:

I've only noticed it turning once or twice - quickly remedied by a twist of the knob (so to speak).

I don't think so Elite.

Mine looks to be polished metal.

Put it this way - if it was paint I would have expected one or two scratches to have shown that by now. So far it looks brand new still. :)

Elite,

Car's at home, I'm at work.

Got 'Er Indoors at a weak moment and she agreed to take some photos of my knob (so to speak :) ).

Unfortunately, she couldn't get enough light onto it in our garage (even with a torch), so they're not worth posting. For example, see attached.

I'll try to get some daylight shots for you but in the absence of those trust me that it looks like polished alloy in an elongated tear drop shape.

icic now.

The one from evo R and AutoExe is different finish. both titan but different finish.

the EvoR one is more like a mirror.

the EVO R one has all different colour looks on it. just like some titan cat back looks.

But the auto Exe one just look polish and silver...

Don't know if you know what i mean. and i might be wrong.

but thats what i think for now....!!

the one we are offering is done in Burnt Titanium finish... therefore, it will change its colour with temperature...

We rubbed the Ti knob for serveral times and it turned from purple into blue... but if you leave it there to cool off for a sec., it will turn back to purple again... ;)

Here is a demo pic...

Yes, you are correct. Mine just looks silver and doesn't change colour.

Personally, I don't see the point of the colour change thing (I think it looks worn) but everyone's different. Whatever floats your boat. :)

If u just say you don't like it or not you type. thats fine.

But if you say someone else's mod's is cheap............ that just isn't nice at all.

And me or MissyK aren't trying to say that because we import the kit from japan or we don't don't use copy's bodykit then we are better. we never say that look at Us car. all the kit from japan. cost so much and all that. so we not trying to say that we are better.
some people might think bodykit you damage it everyday out of drive way. its just depend on what people wants really. but why attack on others people's mods??

People always say my car look bad with the kit the wing. some people like it with the new boot some don't. thats fine. but as long you don't attack other people's mod. to say its cheap. its just mean to say that. thats all.

I agree with Rev, let it be. They are cars FFS, if you are so insecure that your measure of happiness is what others think of your car then I pity you. Everyone has their own style to their car and I hope they mod it the way they do so they are happy with it, but stop trying to please everyone.

If someone makes a joke (which I think Kunz did, notice the lol after his post, I do not think his jib was serious), just get over it, I appreciate that MissyK and Elite have spent some serious money on their cars to get a certain type of look, but hey each to their own....you notice that when people make a comment about the 20inch blig wheels I have that I don't jump down their throat.

Laugh it off people, life is not that serious, and cars are certainly not worth a fight over, no matter how trivial.

So whilst the gear knob is not everyone's cup of tea, and whilst yes I have also seen knock off products that are very cheap I am sure the quality is not as good.

As to genuine parts etc, I am a firm believer in the looks and quality of a product if you can find a comparable product that is a copy then great, if you insist on the originals then great also. People buy for different reasons, I could not justify a genuine kit over and aftermarket based on price, however I an not in car shows like Missy K and Elite.

Remember each to their own here, opinions are part of this forum, the title of this thread was "Check out the titan gear nob." If you post something expect opinions, both good and bad.

In short get over it people, they are CARS FFS!!

i'm not sure about the rx8s but in the 350s i think it might be to hold the leather trim around the gear knob up, because once u replace the stock knob with the titanium one, there's a gap between the bottom of the gearknob and the leather trim

playa78
08-24-2006, 09:36 AM
RXXX8 do you have this fitted? so it's just like the stock screw on right? no need for tightening the gaps with PVC tubing... the reason why I ask is becoz I have the PVC tube like that inside my current gear knob to compensate for the width of the hole inside the knob....

I think everyone is making some valid points here.

It's all a matter of degree. You should be able to express an opinion but it needn't be done in a nasty fashion. Conversely, those putting a mod up for discussion should remember that most people in here mean well and their sense of humour might not always translate well to the written word.

So, let's all chill and enjoy our cars. It's a broad church and everyone should feel welcome to share their particular ideas for their car without getting into a flame war over it.

If it makes any difference to you, i'd like to apologise if I have offended you in any way. Rest assured it was never my intention. By nature, I'm usually very frank and honest about something - if I dont like it, I say it the way it is.

Having said that, I still stand by what I said and wont retract my comment. This is a discussion forum and everyone is entitled to their own opinon as long as its within the rules of the forum.

If you find it hard to take criticism of ANY sort, then its probably a better idea to refrain from making posts like those which either directly or indirectly ask the general forum users for their opinions.

Will,

I installed the Auto-Exe knob shortly after I had the RP short shifter installed and I have not noticed any intrusive gearbox noise.

Mind you, I don't rest my hand on the gear lever while driving and my installer was very experienced (thanks 'Mez :) ).

Not sure if the Auto-Exe knob helps but it sure doesn't hurt from what I can tell.
