Hi all.
I’m new to the rotary engine with my fist being my 04 RX-8. I have been thinking of a turbo unit but have no knowledge of them. I was lucky enough to run into an RX-7 owner the other day replacing his turbo unit however, the more I learned the more confusing things got. I forget the type of unit he called it but there were two fans in this one. The way he explained it; the first one is small and kicks in at low rpm’s while the second kicks in at mid range and then the engine takes over after that.
What I would like to know is what this type of turbo is called, whether or not it is better then the single type set up and if it would fit in the limitted space of the 8's engine compartment? Also I would like to know where I might read up on all types of turbo units in regards to the rotary engine.

Its called a sequential twin turbo. Just do a search on turbo here, or on the RX7 forum. There are literally hundreds of threads. Also google will help you too.
