Hey i'm not sure if this is national but I went to talk to a friend of mine here at the local Mazda in Dover Delaware but I was told by my friend who is a salesman that 1) The mechanics have already eben to school on the new RENSIS, and 2) The release date is July 17 2002

:D

That would be fantastic. My local dealership told me about that time too, yet everything I've read, heard, been sent in the mail by Mazda has said spring 2003. Are they expecting to surprise us or what?

I thought my dealership was mixing the RX up with the new 6 (626 replacement) which IS supposed to be coming summer/fall 2002. But if your dealer said the release for the RX is July, and mine said that, maybe it really is July. How FANTASTIC would that be!!!!??!!

I would be surprised to see a July 2002 release date. Everything I have heard has been spring 2003. Even my local dealer says spring 2003 when I asked him a few months back. Don't take to much stock in what dealers say. They usually don't have a clue about things.

I agree with Liondogs, its going to be rather hard to start making the cars by then since all of the internals of the car (rear end, gearing etc.) havent been officialized. Look for a car to look at in the summer, and look to see the cars on the road by late late 2002 is my guess, with Spring 2003 being the official release date.

Nah I would take my man's word for it he's worked there 11 years and hasnt been wrong once. Anyway I was talking with a mechanic there at the mazda dealership and suspositly the new 6 is going to be the new race car, they said if you work with the firewall you have a good chance of fitting a LS1 in there. But he said he thought about it but not quite sure if it would work cause of the 6 rear end being fragile.

You are aware that the 6 is FWD right? Somehow the thought of an LS1 powered wrong wheel drive car is not appealing.

The new 2005 mx6 which will most likly will be released in early 2004 is what i'm refering to, the new 6 is the 626 upgrade.

^^ Hilarious

There's reviving a thread and then there's ressurecting a thread. I would say a nearly 5 year old thread qualifies as the latter.

Wow, I think this was the first thread posted after the "welcome to Rx-8 Club.com, the website is now open for buisness" thread...

What amazes me is that Mazda was training people well ahead of releasing the RX8 for sale. At least one year before.
