But the sales may go down in the coming moths since no new 8's are coming in and the options that people want will be gone. Bring on the 06

Mx-5 sales make sense, being a new design. I do expect a rapid drop-off from here on out, though. Mazda 5 sales are kind of weird to me, as I think it is the ugliest vehicle designed since some joker drew the Aztec. You can probably thank Honda's ugliest rendition of the Civic yet for the steady growth of the 3.

Looks like the MX-5 is a marketing success-selling briskly for a summer car-excellent. I checked one out today at my local dealer-terrific value, true bargain...

Rx8 levels will probably drop further for Dec, then when the 06's come it will raise up over a thousand again

Mazda needs an RX8 with horsepower & torque to spank the G35 in the 1/4 mile.

The 8 simply doesn't have the go to match its show.

I don't like seeing the 8's sales dip too much and I agree that Mazda needs to put some effort into the 8. It's upgrade time!

to buy and rx-8 now you either got to fall in love if its looks or be a rotary maniac the competition simply offers more

when is mazda going to wake up, in the us market handling does't mean much if you dont have power.

STOP FOOLING AROUND MAZDA!

make a 20b top of the line rx-8 and give boht 20b and 13b renesis power to the upcoming coupe( rx-3?) and macht the competition or kiss rotary power cars goodbye

GIVE ROTARY CARS THERE RESPECT BACK

sorry just relesing some steam

Mazda at least needs more of a mid-model update than they are doing for '06. Sure it's nice to have the 6-port in the automatic, a few different colors, and other various small changes. But to keep sales from dropping they need bigger changes. Maybe a mild facelift for the exterior and interior, new wheels, an optional suspension package, and a small bump in power. FI would be great, but just a simple extra 10 hp would bring in some more sales.

Yeah, that's one thing I've noticed about Mazda. It seems like most other Japanese car companies will update their cars about every other year, but once Mazda will leave their cars the same forever and ever.

I mean, I like the RX-8 a lot the way it is, and I'm not saying it needs some crazy 3-rotor twin turbo or that it isn't a good car if it doesn't beat <insert car here> in the 1/4 mile or whatever.

It's just that a lot of the competition keeps making improvements to their vehicles, like Nissan did has been doing with the Z/G35 in order to keep sales high. Mazda sales are probably going to be lower than they could be because they're not making similar progress.

1288 last November was fairly low as well. RWD sports cars are purchased, predominately, in the spring. With the 06's delayed, people are waiting. 1000 seems to be the current plateau for the 8. There's only so many customers out there for a rotary engined 4 door sports car. With no solid plans of really updating the vehicle (see thread in Gen. Automotive), sales will not rise much and will probably fall to a lower plateau next year. There should be a bump with the 6spd auto sales, but it'll be temporary.

On a slightly pot-stirring note: There were 2699 Solstice orders placed in November

tsk tsk - Come on now. That is a totally useless post. You should know by now, if you don't like the topic don't bother posting.

I'm sure not everyone is an investor, but if you have a Mazda product, you are a consumer and might have interest in Mazda sales. I'm like this data and am interested in how it does YOY and how it compares to compeititors.

Mazda's RX-8 sales prevention team is going to get a big bonus.

Put a low pressure turbo (read: safe) in this car, and Mazda wouldn't be able to make them fast enough to meet demand.

A car competing in this space needs torque.

I suspect they might potentially sell more next year due to the upgraded 6 speed auto and higher horsepower rating. Nothing too crazy but surely they will sell more on this alone. Americans like buying automatic sports cars.

There's been a shift to cars with better gas mileage. Not many people want a car that will get you 18mpg and runs on premium. I would expect sales to drop until wages catch up with the increase in fuel prices.

I remember back in early 70's during the gas shortage. Everyone started buying imports with better gas mileage. Gas shot up from 28 cents a gallon. My V8 Mustang got me 8mpg back then.

We are starting to see the pendulum swing back to better mpg cars.
