Seems like every other region has one of these regularly except us. I am hoping that we can all keep this thread alive, and get it sticky'd. I just wanted to check how many people would be interested in a meet sometime before Christmas. Its been quite some time since a signicant number of 8 owners got together. Perhaps we can do a drive after the meet this time, if people promise to behave! I was thinking maybe the 17th around 12 or 1 would be good. :ylsuper: Anyone have any objections?

I would like to help install it, depending on the weekend. I had to change my take off the engine mount, hold the tranny, and remove my exhaust manifold for the turbo install. Its not that hard once you know how to do it.

I'd personally rather go to Fremont since its closer to me, and the San Jose people, but I'm down for whatever. This brings me to something else. No, people from So Cal that are up here say "the" before the freeway. That is gramtically incorrect. 101, 280, 85 are the names of the freeway, when you talk with someone do you go "Hey the Chris, how was your day today?"

Go-karts? I thought it was going to be real karting? Like Shift karts or something?Both LeMans and GoKartRacer have "real" karts. They aren't shifters but you don't need that extra speed--if you can spin out in a turn then the kart is fast enough for the course.

I've been a regular customer at LeMans but they recently repaved and the course is too slippery. Burlingame is farther for me but it's definitely a better track--both of 'em. An added bonus is they have a cafe area where you can sit, watch the karts through glass windows (no fumes) and chat.

Even worse, they often skip the number altogether. Try being from out of town and listening to the traffic reports and hearing about "the riverside freeway", "the Santa Ana", "the Santa Monica", "the Grapevine", and on and on... Hell I'll gladly take a 'the" before the number if only they'd USE the dang number.

Here in the Bay Area you do the same thing though. "It's backed up from the MacArthur Maze to the Nimitz..." and the poor guy from Cleveland listening on the radio is going "WTF?"

sorry for coming back to this thread a few days late. just got back from a marathon and vacation in Hawaii. Yah, I grew up in OC (yes Orange County....not "the OC") so this is probably why I said "the 92". sorry about that.

Here's my suggestion:

Meet at GoKartRacer at 11am. They have a small parking lot south of the main building that people can park in. Lockers take a quarter so be sure to bring one. If it's your first time there are some computers to the right of registration where you sign up and enter your personal info. Everyone meets, says hi and signs up for a practice event. After the event we group up, discuss driving techniques and bragging rights. If people are up for it we try another practice event and see if we can apply those driving techniques we discussed. Afterwards we relocate to a nearby establishment for lunch and chat some more.

so I think we ended up having 5 peeps or so show up Saturday. Basically just checked out the 2 turbos, went to gokartracer for a practice session, then headed up to San Mateo (BJs) for lunch. Nice meeting Ryan and Alan and good to see Mike and Robin again.

So did Robin rule the karting track?

My times were faster than others but that's just a function of more training and seat time. My best time was actually 0.71 seconds slower than the last time I was on that track, so I definitely did not "rule" anything. :)

CSC Collission in Oak off Broadway. Should be pretty close to where you work. I had my kit painted there. I won't lie and tell you that it isn't expensive. They work on all the high end car manufacturers on the Auto Row, but their stuff is quality, and I highly recommend them.

The Mazda 6 guys are down.... so far 8+ people are down ... one guy lives 2 minutes away from AutoRnd... and we can use his garage to do some work if need be. The mazda guys/gals are pretty excited and prospect looks good. I think the 3 community might be down to come, too. I'll have to check with one guy if he wants to coordinate.

He is also going to spread the word, and try to get some other Mazda people to come out. So yes, this is a Mazda meet, not just 8's. Hopefully this will be the first big meet of the year. I thought about that, but then you have to worry about those of use who drive faster than others. I also thought of maybe a BBQ, but then I don't know how we would get pits there, and if everyone would just bring napkins and paper plates, and no meat.

When i organized the 6club meets, we went to Leman's Go Karting. Its not too far... its right off of 680.
About the rifle range... yeah i'm sure it won't appeal to everyone, but I'm interested, perhaps half will go shooting the other half will go karting? eh?

All in all I think a BBq is a fine idea.

i dunno... i bought the tsunami kit off nopionline, and it just so happens that the manufacturing plant for the kit is based in sacramento.

The dude from tsunami called me a couple hours after my order (thursday) and said it should take maybe 1-2 days to get to me. So, hopefully sometime this week. I'm also painting a CF hood that i acquired.

This is my first real bodykit and am wondering how long it should take to get done, i haven't called the shop that tsunami recommended (shop that did their test fits), as i still don't have the kit in my hand.

Does the scenario usually go like this?
-drive to shop with parts.... test fit and put back stock.. leave fitted parts
-They paint the stuff overnight or whenever
-I come back and they put it on?

I'm hoping i don't have to leave my car at the shop. As that would be a bitch to coordinate.

All in all i'm hoping paint and fit will cost maybe $900. For front bumper, sides, and hood. But who knows.

the rear i'm not too sure. I think that the rears of many many bodykits make the car look frumpy and heavy. I like the OEM rear so i'm thinking of maybe just a lipkit or the MS rear.

But that's a long way down the road... i've had my car maybe 2 weeks, and i've already used up my once per year "momentary loss of sanity" ticket.

Just fyi guys I posted up on msprotege.com boards. I have a handful of guys that have now graduated into the rotary world but they still lurk around that board. I got a buddy with a pretty much fully built MSP and hope he can make it.

I'm gonna put together some crazy discount deals as incentives to come to the event. Whether in stock or not this could be a time to get a spaking deal on the wheels of your dreams. Some products we can do super on, others we can't because frankly we don't have a good deal to begin with.

But don't worry, you're just stuck with the good options.

We have a Q stored at the office at all times. A good ol' Weber. Just might need coals and stuff like that. I got the grille tho. you might need "hardware", spatula etc...
