Check out these valve stem caps. He says that he makes them himself. What do you think for half the price probably?

They don't look as good as the Mazda ones. They lack the detail of the Mazda ones. Is it worth it? I don't know. It also depends on what it's made of. Is it chrome? It doesn't say.

IMO, I don't think either one is worth it, Mazda's or this guy's. To easy for someone to steal, or you lose it yourself by it falling off or you misplacing it. Which I do often enough with rubber valve stem caps.

Eh...got them to see how they are. They are BIG, not sure how they compare size wise to the 'real" ones though. They are made out of aluminum I believe and RX-8 is just stamped on it looks like. Not horrible but nothing great either.
Maybe I'll drill holes in them and sell 'em as keyrings...want one? :D

Took awhile but yes one did get stolen. Luckily I only put one of them on to get some feedback. Everybody that saw them really liked them.

Went to see the dang Bucs yesterday and when I came out the cap was gone. I'm glad they lost. I'm batting 1000, two visits to the stadium and 2 cars vandalized.

Bought a set a couple of weeks ago, just put 'em in the glove box until I want to risk them being 'swiped'....

The guy who makes them is on this forum occasionally, says he is now working on the Strakes.......

Actually the quality looks very good, not what I would expect from some milling machine, they have a lovely smooth finish.

I'm certain these would be stolen.....great for shows/get togethers, but take'em off if you go see a movie...or lunch...or stop at a red light....'cause monday morning, some punk kid is gonna show his buddies what he lifted over the weekend.....

I've seen the mazda ones and the caps are very big and very noticeable.

Personally I wouldn't get them.

Mine got stolen within 3 weeks. Save your money. Too easy to steal. Mine are probably on some kids bike right now.

2 of my caps were stolen with the vehicle less than 2 weeks old (bummer). I think I saw the guy that did it too ... piss me off. I'll probably buy a complete set again, and only use them on "special occasions" :-)

I was thinking about doing the special occasions thing myself. The stem caps look great, worth having for show i guess.

thank you thank you thank you!!!

i was on the verge of hitting the "order" button from Trussville but after i've read this, i'd much rather wait for strake replicas then spend the $195 for real ones...i also bought the valve stem covers for $16 on eBay and are awaiting their delivery

I found locking valve stem caps on ebay. They are not mazda, but they come in silver/black, silver/red, silver/yellow, silver/white, silver/green. They are more streamline caps instead of the large mazda caps. They lock with a key and they are $9.95 a set (buy two get one free). This way you can eliminate that awful black stem, match your car (or wheels), and have them lock to prevent theft. I ordered mine today......will let you know how they fare.
