As part of this latest 'lost power' issue I decided to connect the Harrison scanner and record versus sensors while driving home from work - the hot part of the day. While I have not yet had the loss of power issue with the computer connected I had noticed what I would think is a high catalytic converter temp - as high as 1730 degrees. For a short period of time however. Mid 1600's isn't unusual however.

I did a considerable amount of 'searching' on this forum and I see several topics that say 1600 seems high, and one that said rotary engines' CAT can go as high as 2000 - which is really a bit much.

Has anyone else connected the scanner and observered CAT temps....and what was the highest seen?

Last year (and in talking with Canzoomer then) the high temp in the cat was discussed. This subject came up because they where looking into going to a high flow cat. At that time the high flow cats out there could not be mounted because they could not tolerate a 1600-1700 degree temp. They where designed for piston engines and their 1200 degress. So the knowledge that the cat is reaching 1700 is not new. However, I have never heard anyone going over 1700 either. Just for your info .
