NgoRX8 07-18-2005, 12:49 AM uhh.. chrome when off and amber when on. :D tiggerlee 07-18-2005, 01:20 AM uhh.. chrome... :D ah yes chrome! :D Macius8 07-18-2005, 01:37 AM Stealth Bulbs (https://ssl4.chi.us.securedata.net/stealthauto.com/merchantmanager/index.php?cPath=3&mmsid=f8e9ab7f7391b68e4bf907252da064cb) 9000rx8 07-18-2005, 01:46 PM thanks guys... galleychief 07-18-2005, 07:33 PM uh, Sunlight Silver when off, orange when on. . . M3I0A5 07-19-2005, 10:45 AM Uhh, what's the purpose of a stealth bulb? L8APEX 07-19-2005, 10:53 AM Uhh, what's the purpose of a stealth bulb? If you have clear corner lenses, or tail light lenses like we do, the bulb appears as silver when off, hiding in the lens, but when illuminated is orange, to comply with most local taffic ordinances, which require turn signals to illuminate amber, or orange. SINISTER 07-19-2005, 10:53 AM Uhh, what's the purpose of a stealth bulb? Same here... RA-Eight 07-19-2005, 10:59 AM Short answer: Makes the bulbs stealth. :D Longer answer: Color concealment when not lit. Because the stock bulbs are amber, it reflects against the chrome head/tail light housing, making that portion of the housing amber. Most people don't like this because the amber color doesn't flow well with their cars. The same reason why people swap out the side marker lens for the clear lens. It makes it look clean. Good thing about the stealth bulbs is that it still lights up amber so you stay legal. Hope this helps! RA-Eight 07-19-2005, 11:05 AM Here's how the website explains it. It even has an 8 as an example: http://www.stealthauto.com/Store/Custom_Lighting.aspx?CategoryID=1# M3I0A5 07-19-2005, 11:54 AM They are actually illegal then. At least in the state of Florida. Florida law states that the orange glow from the bulb must be visible when not lit from, I believe 15 feet. So that would be illegal in Florida. But who cares right!? L8APEX 07-19-2005, 11:58 AM I have two sets if anyone wants them. The rear bulbs are easy to swap, but the front ones I could not figure out. PM me if anyone is interested. \\Konig\\ 07-19-2005, 12:58 PM Front ones are for people withe very small, miniture hands. I just stuck my hand in there and somehow got it to twist out. Here are some pics of the bulbs in the front and back installed tiggerlee 07-19-2005, 02:13 PM They are actually illegal then. At least in the state of Florida. Florida law states that the orange glow from the bulb must be visible when not lit from, I believe 15 feet. So that would be illegal in Florida. But who cares right!? As long as they glow amber when on, they're legal. Yes even in Florida. :D L8APEX 07-19-2005, 02:42 PM Front ones are for people withe very small, miniture hands. I just stuck my hand in there and somehow got it to twist out. Here are some pics of the bulbs in the front and back installed I guess my fat fingers were not going to pull them out then. I admit, they look nice, but to me, they did not seem to glow as bright as stock. j67345 07-19-2005, 02:50 PM be careful putting the front ones in though.....make sure they are plugged in ALL the way!! I apparently didn't plug the bulb into the wire part good enough...and as soon as I went to twist it in, the bulb fell right into the headlight housing. NIGHTMARE! About 3 hours later, after using small screwdrivers and tons of double sided tape...and ripping the crap out of my hands, I got the bulb back out. Wow, it was NOT FUN!! So, if you do swap the front ones out, make sure they are attached nice and tight before you screw it into the hosuing! :D (once they are in though, they look really good) nijelSC 07-19-2005, 05:04 PM be careful putting the front ones in though.....make sure they are plugged in ALL the way!! Used a fuel line hose attached to a vacuum. Wasn't so hard to get it out. :) j67345 07-19-2005, 06:18 PM your way was much better than mine :) dupa12345 04-29-2006, 10:40 PM the things u learn while breaking )hopefully not( your car NgoRX8 04-29-2006, 11:20 PM been lookin' through some very old threads. lol Dro 04-29-2006, 11:23 PM I lost a 194 LED bulb during the replacement of my parking lights. Where it went, I have no idea. I have rather large hands, and after maybe 1/2 an hour all 4 amber bulbs were replaced w/ stealth. |
