All,

Here are some pics of my RX8 with my new Kaotik GT wheels, 20X8.5, +45 offset. I have Nitto 555 235-35-20 tires. Execuse the dirt, Kansas weather not helping me out :D .

The ride so far is good, no rubbing to speak up. Very mindful of curbs now :D .

 

I'm scared to ask what that setup weighs, be prepared for your shocks to last about half their normal life like that.

 

Why would you do that to your car?

 

dude, you are going to rip your suspension apart with that setup. You have to be noticing some decrease in performance there

i really don't mind 20's on the rx8 (if your only going for looks) but these rims look horrible on the 8..it will look better on a lincoln navigator...

 

they do look heavy (if there is such a thing) but if you llike them good for you

I want an N/A RX-8 with 20s to do a track day with me or autox just to prove the point that unsprung weight makes a HUGE difference.

Now if they are lightweight 20s (does such a thing exist?) different story.....

 

First of all your link doesn't work. Secondly due to your comments about how stupid you feel this forum is I also told you that you have the ability yourself to close that thread. You did say a mod may as well close it. Please do it yourself rather than continuing to contribute to it. It should be obvious that these threads are going nowhere.

To everyone else here, while I personally don't like the 20" look, by no means do I care if someone else does. That's their right. Please don't insult a person if their tastes are different than yours.

 

Don't let those jokers get to you, your 20s look great. If they are 9 or 10 inches, when you can put 245s on the front and 275s to 300s on the rear.

In the track you will hold the road like glue.

 

Sure you'll hold like glue at a snails pace. You'll bottom out too.

Snail huh, ya, well this "snail” you might have to watch from behind. You will need to avoid the back flame. We don't call it the Dragon for nothing.

Leaning the mix helped to reduce the after burner effect taking the cat out creates. Learned that after you take the cat out, the 8 creates an 8 to 10 ft fire ball between shifts till you lean it down. The Dragon still spits fire, but at a more reasonable size. The stock mix I found out is set super rich to extend the life of the cat, which of course lowers performance, but hey Mazda has to meet import requirements. The cat comes out pretty quick. With the post cat O2 simm, the car still thinks it has a cat. I kept the cat for those special occasions like emission check day and so on.

Looks like you are getting your car ready for the track as well. Looks good.

 

I'd hate to see what happens when you hit a rumble strip with a low profile tire on a heavy 20 inch rim. Rim damage might be the least of your issues as the suspension screams to try to control the heavy wheel.
