Carbon Fibre Wheels
Carbon Fibre Wheels
I was just poking around NSXprime as I tend to do and found an interesting thread on carbon fibre wheels
They're really expensive, but light as hell; 8.5 lbs. Apparently they have seen them knock half a second off 0-60 times, although no mention of the weight of wheels they replaced.

You are right about the idea that carbon fibre fails catastrophically when it fails.
As for F1, there is a regulation that states:
which rules out composite materials
As for F1, there is a regulation that states:
All wheels must be made from an homogeneous metallic material.

I don't even think an NSX is worthy enuff for these.... :D I also think that there should be a certain amount of weight on a wheel to maintain traction.....an 8 pound wheel on a high hp car would probably spin out easier....
