What a fantastic day. My company operates under a strict 'no smoking' policy which means all the smokers sneak outside for their 'fix's during the day.

I have just been outside and realised that I should've ordered the sunroof as an option!

I don't have one on my present car but do miss the ability to let the sun in every now and then but more importantly the light at any time. Also, I don't think on the 8 it spoils the roof line.

I also haven't ordered the sunroof and I've been thinking about this a lot lately. My reason was I didn't think it looked good from the outside - it looks like its perched a bit too far forward on the roof and I think it spoils the lines.

On the other hand, I am one of the few people who don't seem to like the black/red leather interior and I have gone for just black. So will the interior be just too dull without the sunroof? And on a day like this a sunroof would be nice.

No sunroof for me, Had one on my current car and after almost 3 years still havnt used it.

Either windows open or AC on....

All the sunroof will do is let in hot air and spoil the look of the car IMHO .

Just keep everything closed, turn up the climate control and listen to your great 9 speaker Bose stereo!

It's days like these the leather is rather unpleasant to sit on though. You get heaters for the winter, so why not seat coolers for the summer?

Sunroof's are crap! Buy a convertible if you want sunshine, open-top motoring - or just use your A/C! :p

I'm kinda in the middle.

I have a manual moon roof in my Pathfinder. What the heck is the point of a *moon* roof? Hahaha I don't get it. Maybe its an arbitrary name for a dual function cheaper sun roof? Guess so. Rarely do I pop my roof out. Maybe I will soon though to see. Its not best for meteor shower watching, but one possibility. ;)

I guess it could come to this in hot weather: Remote starter to start the car and A/C or crackin the roof (and usually windows) or both. :)

I agree I think it downgrades the look of the car and wish they had a roof matching sun roof instead.

From the "Build Your Car" app on the website you can't get the GT package and eliminate the moon roof. :mad: This the case when ordering?

maybe i should get the wife a little MX5 for weekend fun in the sun? Second thoughts, it would probably be a waste coz there is only 2 weekends of sun anyway in this wonderful summer we have every year!

All you boys must be on the short side, i passed on the sun roof purely out of respect for my barnet.

I'm in the same boat here. IMHO it spoils the lines of the car, especially Tianium :D. For others it doesn't spoil the look. I want the Bose with my car, but I would have to get a moon roof and Touring Package. I can't decide, please help :(. Thanks.

I definetly :confused: (is this ok?) want mine with the moonroof. When the car is really hot you just need to open the windows and moonroof and A/C and it will cool down in no time. Or when you don't want to use the A/C maybe on a cooler day or during the night you can open it. I think it looks really good, specially tilted open over the roof.
I owned a 1st gen RX-7 with a manual glass moonroof that could be either removed, tilted up or removed and installed backwards for that over the roof tilted open look, I loved it to death!

Another thing I like about the sunroof... on the cooler days, you can crack it open, and you get alot less wind noise than opening the windows. That will help the Bose system sound that much better!

If I had to take the sunroof/moonroof to get the Bose then I would go for it (we can specify the sunroof separately in the UK). I prefer the look without it but I think it's something you would quickly get used to.

In fact come to think of it if I lived in San Diego I would probably get the sunroof anyway. But here in England our summers are so unreliable I may only get to use it two or three times a year. We are having some hot weather this weekend but it's coming to an end in a day or two. I'll bet we won't be talking about sunroofs in a weeks time.:(

it is a pity about the weather here. My only reason for not going for the sunroof was concern about my height. I'm almost 6 ft 2 and i was advised not to go for the sunroof option...

Such a pity though. Our freinds in the big US of A are a lucky bunch where the sunroof is justified.

Oh, that comment about aircon on a hot day...it's never hot here, so when it is, I prefer not to turn the aircon on, but to savour the heat and the warm air by winding down all the windows.

And...I'm not one of those idiots who get off on loud bass hump thump and windscreen shattering music either. What's wrong with those people?

I think that was a long enough spell of good weather to confirm that the sunroof was the right choice for me!:cool:

I opted for the Sun Roof, in fact i opted for every option going. My lexus has a 1 touch auto sunroof which alongside climate control fairly whacks the cool air.

I thought tall people had sat in the 8 with moonroof without a height problem. I'm slightly under 6'2'' so I may be back to the drawing board. I only ordered as an option because it was suggested adequate in very early threads, about Jan time.

If it's described as adequate (by forum folks as well), I'm sure you'll be able to live with it without any problems.

I'm just pushing 6'3 so I felt I'd be best to give it a miss, particularly as I ordered it before reading this forum.

Must admit I've been running around for the last few weeks with the roof slightly set back in my MX-6 and to be honest I've started having second thoughts about not getting another one, for those few days of the year when the weather is like this, it really is a "nice to have".

Yeah, I agree. The only reason why i didn't go the sunroof option was when my dealer advised (back in Feb) that if you're over 6" 3 , things might be a bit tight up front.

For the first time, Audi's new lesser powered TT roadster seems attractive...at almost the same price as the 8 too.

And before evrybody flames me with comments like...'the 8 is a different car seating 4, OR more powerful, OR different class, OR the TT is common etc etc....the point is that the TT is now in the same price bracket, is a roadster, and there are no questions about its resale value or quality, so therefore an alternative worth considering?

It's only worth considering if you don't need 4 seats. I think that people who only need a 2 seater or 2 +2 have a whole load of alternatives though.
