I had a rough day yesterday that involved getting stuck, getting towed 100 kms and worst of all at the end of it all finding a 2 inch gash out of my front passenger rim. There's no way I hit a curb so unless my girlfriend did it I can't figure out how it got there.

I'll take pics if anyone is interested but is there anything I can do to fix it up and make it look better... DIY or otherwise? I'm all broken up over this.. my poor poor 3 month old car.

If there's no good way to fix it.... anyone interested in selling a stock rim? lol..

Dave...Ouch man!! Sorry. Contact MNAO, they can send you some Sunlight silver touch-up paint. This will blend in nicely with the wheel colour. Should make the gash look better.

MANO - 1-800-222-5500. You may have to beg because your 8 is black. If all else fails, call your dealer and see if they will hook you up.

Go to Rosenthal if you need to get another rim. They would be much cheaper than a local dealer (at least that is what i experienced).

Google "Wheels America" and see if they have any places semi-local to you. We've had them repair a wheel for my husband's former vehicle, and it came back looking as good as new. Took a big gash out of the rim lip, and you couldn't even tell afterward. Cost was about 125 and was sent in through his local dealership to WA.

There's a place called Greens in Vancouver that repairs curb damage like that. I've never been there so I dunno the price but it's highly recommended...
Or, let this give yourself that excuse to get a new set of aftermarket wheels and use the stock ones for winter :D

After just barely touching the stock rim on the curb in my lot at work, and seeing the amount of damage it caused...the stock rims will not stand up well to being on in the winter. They have flanges that stick out past the tires....and break very very easily.

I got some winter 17"X7"'s that allow the tires to overhang the rims...and will be much better than stock if I touch a curb. Plus they are inexpensive...so i won't cry if I break one :D
