If I can do one an evening, they will be done by next weekend. Then I'll start the movies. Dang, This is more work than I expected. Robert, your shooting in turn 7 is outstanding. You get a HUGE Atta-Boy! :D legokcen 03-28-2005, 08:56 PM OK. I'm getting a little upset. This message is dropping down on the forum. We haven't had very much activity today. I will not be wearing a thong if I drive  OMG!!!, he's going commando!!! Phlash 03-30-2005, 06:48 AM Guys do we know whats next? Have to get my koni's, springs and track tires. OD I just ordered Kumho MX's 245/40's for the next round. TireRack has them on sale right now. Now I need to find a set of used wheels to put them on as my "track tread" Phlash 03-30-2005, 09:02 AM I signed up for Pit and Grid for AMS. I may decide to run the event but at this time, I am going to just go and work it and get my motorsports fix. Excellent! Welcome! Phlash 03-30-2005, 09:10 AM That is more than likely the tire I plan on going with. Can I ask why you wouldn't go with some tires that are even more performance oriented if you are getting tires just for the track? Toyo RA-1 are what all the Spec Miata guys use. You can get them shaved for awesome traction and handling. If it turns out to be wet, you can use your street tires. Well, unlike lego....I'd rather not haul tires around. Kumho makes three different competition tires with something like 30-50 treadwear (ouch) that I'm sure would be great. I just want to mount the MX's and shelf them until track event week (weekend) and then swap them out with the Kumho ASX all seasons when I get back home. The MX's are Kumho's summer high performance tire. Just a step below their competition line and a step above what lego is running on his car now as his everyday tire that he is thrilled with. The ratings and reviews on them seem very positive. I'm very happy with my ASX's. The compound is just a little hard (double the MX's) for tracking, which I found out the hard way this last time being a little tail happy (well, in addition to my rear end toe being way, way out from being tagged on the way down). I expect the same happiness out of the MX's. Phlash 03-30-2005, 10:05 AM I have heard nothing but good things about them. They are also 2 lbs/tire lighter than what you have on now or the stock Bridgestones. That will make a difference too. Got em' today. Pictures do nothing for these.....what an agressive looking tire! legokcen 03-30-2005, 05:04 PM I just ordered Kumho MX's 245/40's for the next round. TireRack has them on sale right now. Now I need to find a set of used wheels to put them on as my "track tread" If you can get a set a little wider than 8", you can experiment down the road with wider tires. With you suspension upgrade, I bet the tires will still be your barrier. Get 9" tires so you can get up to 275 tires for the future. legokcen 03-30-2005, 05:10 PM Here you go Phlash. I'm not sure what my next event will be. I may try the NASA @ AMS. I really need to find a way to automate this process of images to the web. I need to use a database format, PHP, gallery or something. I had to go into every page and make manual changes to the website. That is why I've not been making any image updates for the last two days. I have updated all the pages and uploaded to the silvereightstudio.com site and in moments will delete the original site. So make sure you bookmark the new site. I will start working on the 3 remaining sections tomorrow and then will start on video. I dumped the NOS run to the computer yesterday and was impressed with the sound quality. Don wants to take pictures of Nabil and OD is not talking to Nabil anymore.Lego, this was the funniest thing I've read in a long time. I read it this morning before leaving for work. I had tears in my eyes from laughing so hard. I had a vision of an old sitcom, Soap, the one a young Billy Crystal was on. When the program would start the announcer would begin talking about what was going to happen during the show and it sounded a lot like the way you wrote your post. All it needed was the theme song. Thanks! I needed that. :D SilverEIGHT 04-01-2005, 08:27 PM Turn 6 is done! I have one more section to do, "Turn 12/front straight", and it is the largest of all with 134 images. I will probably weed some out. legokcen 04-01-2005, 10:22 PM Thanks! I needed that. :D I aim to please. My videos are going out in the mail ASAP. Charles R. Hill 04-02-2005, 01:02 AM Guess what I discovered? I made a few G-Tech runs when I got back because the car had been feeling sluggish for quite a while but I couldn't pin down what was bothering me. 14 flats were all I could muster and with the nitrous I was only pulling 13.7's. Then I realized that I could probably use a tranny flush after all the hammerin' at R/A. I went in my shed to get another couple quarts of Royal Purple and realized that I had been using Max Gear rather than Synchro Max in the trans. I did a quick fluid swap, only with the right stuff this time, and reclaimed the lost few tenths and I am now back to 13.7's dry. That means that those of you who had rides in my car got gypped out of a few tenths and 20 h.p. during the ride. Looks like I owe all of you second rides so be prepared to be further tittilated when that happens. There is a big difference and everything is back to normal. CRH rxeightr 04-02-2005, 08:38 AM Charles, I am always ready for a little tittilation. SilverEIGHT 04-02-2005, 08:42 AM Anything referring to "titti" should be in the lounge! :D Charles R. Hill 04-02-2005, 09:37 AM Although the viscosities were not necessarily different between the Synchro and the Gear Maxes, the difference is probably that the Gear Max has what is called a "clinging" quality to it. That means it attaches itself to a surface and doesn't let go. The power loss comes by way of the gears having to force the fluid out of the way in order to roll over just as if the fluid were along the lines of a 120+ weight fluid. Who'da thought a fluid mismatch would cut 3-4 tenths off the performance? CRH SilverEIGHT 04-02-2005, 09:42 AM Very interesting Charles. That is amazing the difference a lubricant can make. Charles R. Hill 04-02-2005, 09:49 AM Another interesting point is that the 1" taller tires I am currently using have much less of a negative effect than did the fluid problem. I may still go to 26" by way of 245/40-18's, though it is good to know I won't be going crazy in the meantime. CRH SilverEIGHT 04-02-2005, 10:02 AM "Turn 12 and the Front Straight" have been added to the web site now. So that concludes the image uploads. :D Now I will take the weekend off and go do something with my family. Next week I will start on the videos... after I do my taxes. I can’t wait to work on Charles' NOS run. I will go ahead and announce to Jim Pantas of NASA that the site is complete for their use and they will be putting a link from their SE Division site to mine. Charles R. Hill 04-02-2005, 10:14 AM One thing I forgot to mention about the fluid swap was that if you guys thought the tach needle swept quickly before, you should see it now! It feels real good to be back at my normal performance level. Keeping in mind that my 55 shot cuts about 1 to 1.1 seconds off my e.t. it is no surprise that a change in 20 h.p. has a dramatic effect. At the e.t.'s I am getting a change in 20 h.p. results in a .4(+/-) second change in times. I guess a rule of thumb that can be applied is that each 5 h.p. can shave off a tenth in the 1/4 mile, at least until the 12 second range. CRH olddragger 04-02-2005, 10:29 AM Charles, I guess you where in a rush to get down here. You are so attentive to detail its hard to imagine that error. Welcome to the world with the rest of us goof ups. In a way im glad you did that Now i get another ride! talk to yall later and oh by the way i am still talking to Nabil----just from a distance! OD Charles R. Hill 04-02-2005, 10:51 AM What happened was that the shop where I buy my OTC parts told me the fluid would work fine. They didn't happen to have the Synchro in stock when I needed it. It is true, it did "work" as my tranny is fine but it didn't work to the fullest potential. Not to blame them, as I should have known better, but now we all know the consequences and repercussions of using different fluids. Anyway, OD you are definitely going to like the next ride and we may even have time to let you show me how to drive the car on the track, the RIGHT WAY, as opposed to how I do it. While I was in Atl. I forgot to say that you guys are some very good drivers and I was impressed by the abilities displayed by all of you and the pointers offered to me. Hopefully, I can take y'all to Milan dragway and pass on what talents I have for drag racing to all of you just the same. Drag racing, especially on the street, is mostly mental and races are usually won or lost even before the light turns green. CRH Razz1 04-02-2005, 01:30 PM Wow, the RB intake is fantastic. Feels like a lightened flywheel. The extra hp gives you more torque on the low end. You will have to re-learn fast shifting again as redline comes alot sooner. You can now cruz in 6th gear and accelerate like your in 5th. The idle is smooth. :) And I do believe the whole unit weighs less. talk about sweeping the tac. This mod does it. I highly recomend you guys buy one. Razz1 04-02-2005, 01:40 PM Not every but a few... I didn't like the fact that the first post became a WAR between Rotary God and DUB. It take a new person 4 pages of BS before you even get a response from a neutral party who bought and installed it. olddragger 04-02-2005, 07:35 PM Agreed also Razz Its too bad when it gets like that. I have been looking at that intake and I must admit its the only one i have seen that I like better than my homemade job(although I do have the bling factor over RB!) I bet you could plexiglass the top of RB's and get a good bling with it! That much differance huh? I know RB makes good stuff and you can believe what they say. I think thats what I like the best about them. They are honest. Question did you have to take the front clip off to install it. Tha vfad has to be removed correct? olddragger SilverEIGHT 04-03-2005, 07:38 AM I started a new thread for AMS. SilverEIGHT 04-03-2005, 03:21 PM OH MY! I JUST HIT THE 500 POST CLUB! I'd be interested......... Charles R. Hill 04-05-2005, 12:40 PM A message to all my Homies in Atlanta, especially those who had a ride with the nitrous car: Since last weekend I have been tracing a couple problems that have pretty much rendered those nitrous passes a moot point. Upon return from Atl. I discovered an intermittent problem with my nitrous trigger circuit. It was not engaging properly while down South with you guys. I fixed that problem and got great response out of the system last night on my way home from work. At that point I discovered another problem-major detonation issues. This afternoon I traced the problem to my having the nitrous/fuel lines on the wrong inputs to the nitrous nozzle. The proper size jets were on each respective line but each line was on the wrong nozzle. As such I had improper mixing of the nitrous and fuel, which resulted in a slightly lean mix. It also resulted in a dramatic loss of h.p. delivery. I was only running 13.3's when you took rides. Please keep in mind that all is back to normal and the full 55 h.p. is now delivered to the engine with another 1/2 second available. Since my rides were given with a money-back gaurantee of satisfaction I therefore owe each of you another pass in the gassed RX-8. My most heartfelt apologies to all. CRH rxeightr 04-05-2005, 04:54 PM Apology accepted. Are you saying the initial install of the lines to the nozzle were incorrect, or have you been playing around & mixed them up later? Trying to understand why detonation just reared its ugly head, after all this time.... Just curious. Charles R. Hill 04-06-2005, 01:19 AM Here's the whole story on what all went wrong; Trace, while you and I were swapping the flywheel the guys washed my car and engine. Unfortunately, I had a connection that was moisture sensitive running from the throttle body to the nitrous module. That connection was loosened by the power washer(not their fault). I meant to check it when we were done with your flywheel but I forgot. Last weekend, after I raced an STi, I noticed that the nitrous wasn't activating like it should have. I wiggled that connection I meant to previously check and all worked fine. The next day I replaced said connection with a weather-proof connector and taped it all up to look stock. The system was now switching properly. That night I decided to try the system out on the way home from work and discovered the engine knocking. I then wondered "What the f...?". Yesterday I checked the lines running from the module to the nozzle and discovered that I had the lines and jets switched. The nitrous jet was in the nitrous line, and same with the fuel, but each was located on the other's nozzle input. The problem is that nitrous nozzles are designed to properly mix the fuel/nitrous combo and switching them ruins the mixing action. This causes concentrated rich/lean spots in the intake charge and results in detonation. This happened because I re-routed my lines for a cleaner look under the hood prior to coming to Atl. In all of the tomfoolery I messed them up. I even thought I double-checked them. As a result of all this the council of nitrous Gods has rescinded my membership and reduced my rank to that of nitrous peasant. To reclaim my status the Gods have indicated that I must get my e.t.'s back into the high 12's and start smoking some STi's and Evo8's. Once I put some 26" tall tires back on I am sure those 12.7-12.8's will return. Right now I am a few tenths slower than that as those damn 27" tall 255/45's are dragging me down. After I deal with a few personal things I'll get another set of tires and pick up where I left off. Not a good past few weeks for me and the car, eh? CRH SilverEIGHT 04-06-2005, 05:46 PM The video of Charles’ NOS run is complete. I'll be putting it up tonight! Stay tuned cause you will watch this one several times. You will want to turn the sound system up as there is no "Music", only raw rubber and asphalt with great commentary by the three stars of the show, Charles, Lego and the #1 Black RX-8. legokcen 04-06-2005, 09:42 PM Excellent video. I loved it! Razz1 04-06-2005, 09:54 PM They remembered me from Seven Stock. I live close to them. I was on their waitng list. They needed a good honest post on the net due to all the garbage from DUB. Besides I was installing my Oil and Radiator screens from RB. That's how I got to install and test the intake. My shaken stick shift is back, but sometimes it doesn't shake at all after driving. Seems like the ECU is trying to compensate. ? ? Power and engine acceleration is still there along with the smoothness. It's just the shaking stick at idle. After start up from cold the stick is steady. It was never steady before. When warm it shakes less than before REVI install but shakes a little. Still an improvement. I think she's afraid of all the increased power. SilverEIGHT 04-06-2005, 10:09 PM OK, I couldn't wait for Charles to check the NOS movie out. I'm just too dang impatient. Go to my site and right mouse click on the link and save the ".wmv" file to your hard drive for viewing. http://silvereightstudio.com/ Let me know if you see anything that needs-a-fixen! Charles R. Hill 04-07-2005, 12:39 AM The only thing that needs a-fixin' is the idiot behind the wheel needing to remember to reconnect the feed line from the tank, then remembering to arm the system, then he needs to fix all the stupid things he discovered when he got back home. What a wreck! The car hasn't been turning in the same numbers as it did a few months ago but I am sorting everything out and should be hitting 12's soon. Then comes the E-Man and another 45 h.p. of nitrous. The PIP was a great touch and the audio sounded good without the high pitch whine captured by other condenser mic's. CRH Charles R. Hill 04-07-2005, 07:40 AM I have a question for my Atlanta friends, those of you who have swapped out the factory tires for replacement tires; most of you have 245/40-18's and I am wondering if you feel any difference between those sizes and the 225/45-18's that come stock on the RX-8. You guys heard all of my complaints regarding the fact that my attempt at going 1" taller seems to be a flop. My G-Tech is telling me that going 1" taller resulted in a quicker 60' time but at the expense of anywhere between 4-8 tenths in the entire 1/4 mile. My guess is that I lost about 3-5% torque to the rear wheels(maybe more) and the greater weight of the tires is really dragging the car down, too. That makes me wonder if the wider 245's have any perceived effect on the feel of the car with regard to all performance parameters. Are they heavier and, if so, can you feel it? If I get positive feedback on the 245/40's I'll go get a set today. Thanks, CRH Phlash 04-07-2005, 08:17 AM The Kumho MX's I just bought are 2lbs ea lighter than the Kumho ASX's I run and 3lbs ea lighter than the stock RE040's that were on the car. Is per "feel" well, vs the stock tires, I think anything is better than the RE040's. But that's just my opinion.......Lego is running Kumho's as well. Charles R. Hill 04-07-2005, 10:03 AM Thanks for the response, G. My concern was/is whether or not the additional width will be noticeable when accelerating and, if so, how much. I am confident that adding 1" to the diameter was far worse than adding 1" to the width. I think the KDW2's that I have on now get so much better traction than the RE040's that my 60' time will be even better with the 26" diameter like the stock tires. I am thinking that I may be able to hit a 2.1 or even a 2.0 60' time with me even bumping into the 4's on the 0-60 mph time. CRH rxeightr 04-07-2005, 04:03 PM The 245/40/18 PS2's are actually 1/2" shorter than the stock Bridgestones. Being 1" wider should not affect ET, except in the 'hooking-up-better' department. legokcen 04-07-2005, 04:47 PM Thanks for the response, G. I'm at work and the answer pops into my mind. CRH is now crowned the new "Daddy Rat Fink" He works for Nitro! Charles R. Hill 04-08-2005, 02:23 AM I have managed a few 5.1 0-60's with the Potenza's so I am thinking with the new Nitto NT-555's I may just crack into the 4's this weekend or next week. I have triple-checked my entire nitrous system for operation and it will be fully re-filled and in top shape by the time the new tires are broken in. Hopefully, like Napoleon Dynamite says, I'll have some skills by then so the chicks will dig me. That way I won't have to spend all day on-line with the babes. CRH olddragger 04-08-2005, 10:30 AM I know this is sacroreligious guys but I'm not to interested in 0-60 times with this car. Besides a lot of that is the driver and the all important "launch"! What I am more interested in is the 30-100-30 time! From my ride in "The Boss" it will be very capable of a sub 5 time. Not only that i can see Charles breaking into the 12's in the 1/4 with just a little more help from something. I would love to see a can scan report on a NOS run. A little timing help and a mild 75 shot and he will be in the 12's(on stock tires). I believe with drag radials and skinny's up front, 90/10's shocks up front, relocate the battery and maybe replace it with a Braille and he may break into the 12's with a 55 shot. But i think he is having a lot of fun track driving now! olddragger SilverEIGHT 04-08-2005, 03:11 PM I was getting quotes in teh 180 range too. The first price the guy gave me was around 60 bucks but that was the key only. The fob itself was $$$$$. If we can get the whole thing for $60 I'd be interested.Well, after pressing the parts department to look further into the details they discovered... Parts dude: "Oh! Yea, I see why you were concerned now! The transmitter is separate and cost $165. Then you got the cost of the key and programming." So, sorry guys. What I thought was a good deal was nothing after all. I had talked to the parts department 3 times before I dragged this out of them. Hill 04-09-2005, 01:06 AM O.D., those couple of passes were not at 100%. I discovered some issues, as you may have read, and since I got back home I put another 5-6 runs on the system and the tank is empty. That means the nitrous was probably at 40%, at best, but I messed up a few things as I said previously. I would just say that with the multitude of problems I had you might as well say that the run(s) we all did were without the nitrous. If I am able, I will make a tape and send it to Don so he can update the performance impressions. I assure all of you that if you thought the car pulled hard before, you better wear Depends next time. That's why I seemed less than thrilled, myself. I wasn't sure at the time but I have it all figured out now. If those 555's are worth anything more than the stock tires we'll be seeing some 13.0's fersure. Sorry to burst some bubbles around here but the truth is what it is. Those passes sucked and so did my car that weekend. I fooled around with too many things at the same time. He let me have last Sunday to goof around in and I am glad I bought the 8 instead! The 8 actually feels quicker so any of you guys that were thinking about trading up...........Don't! Chas Wouldn't think of it. Only thing I'd trade up for would be a Speedsource 8. olddragger 05-06-2005, 08:52 AM So I am being told not to get a Ferrari and to be a rebel? Maybe the 28th? Any group discounts? Two days? Lets see---Honey oh Honey this is what I want for birthday, 20th anniversy and christmas! Ok? Or like this Hey you , Yea you--Woman in the kitchen-- bring me a beer and call Panoz now! errrrr maybe I better think on this a while. homeless olddragger Razz1 05-08-2005, 12:34 AM Update from the Mazfest in California. Man was that fun! I saw a lot of wipe outs. The field was super muddy with pools of water. Just got back from Button Willow. Was consistently hitting 103+ on the track. This time I participated in Intermediate class. On the last session they put us with the big boys. Was with the pros that you see in NASCAR. On the back end stretch we were hitting near 100 when all of a sudden there is a car facing us head on. (Of course it was a Silver 8) We had just over one car width between him and the edge of the track where a there was huge wet muddy infield. Five us just made it through the narrow gap. Then the big boys started pushing me on the next lap. Fortunatley it was hotter and Magic Mountain dried up a bit. Pushed over the mountain and around the next couple of corners. Next....... We hit the hard right had corner AKA (Mazda hair pin), before the stretch of chicanes where speeds hit over triple digits. I was trying to get more speed as our cars have so little torque you consistently have to down shift to second. This time in 3rd I pushed so far with the big Boys on my tail that I went off the edge but quickly recovered. Man you should have seen some of those guys fly. It was fun participating with the Mustang Cobra and Super Charger on the track. Razz1 05-08-2005, 02:11 PM I'll have to check around. Since it was a Mazda sponcered event there were plenty of video camaras. legokcen 05-08-2005, 06:16 PM Well, I just looked at the Panoz site and they allow DOT competition tires. I have 2 Hoosier Road Race tires (got a great deal). If I get 2 more, I'm in. SilverEIGHT 05-14-2005, 11:23 AM Come on guys and Pam... we only have a few more to go to make this a 1000 post thread! Who will be the one to reach the magic number. My bet is on lego. Phlash 05-14-2005, 06:12 PM I dunno - Phlash is an aggressive post harlot too... Hey now...I represent that comment......:D olddragger 05-15-2005, 02:06 PM Ok I claim 978 OLddragger legokcen 05-15-2005, 02:44 PM there's another one. Alright. I'm having dreams of Road Atlanta again. I'm going to the next NASA event. SilverEIGHT 05-15-2005, 05:14 PM You guys that didn't make it to our Andretti's event Friday need to get with us on this event: Endurance Karting - Charlotte, NC - 11/12/05 http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=61622 SilverEIGHT 05-15-2005, 10:04 PM I can't resist... I'll have to leave very early on Sunday morning to get there on time. What time are you all thinking of showing up there? I'm going to sign up for Novice! :) SilverEIGHT 05-16-2005, 05:07 PM Anyone got Pam's address so I can send a copy of the DVD. PM me if you have it. SilverEIGHT 05-16-2005, 06:55 PM Well, I'm reading a book right now, Lance Armstrong (It's Not About the Bike), and I'm learning how to pace myself for the final push! I know if I see lego or Phlash making the move I have to time it with 30 second intervals (minimum post time) to capture that last post for the podium. Phlash and Lego are not on right now so I'll have to save my energy for the finally or it will not be worth it. Can't do it without a battle! SilverEIGHT 05-16-2005, 07:10 PM Phlash is online now! SilverEIGHT 05-16-2005, 07:22 PM Fake to the left.... SilverEIGHT 05-16-2005, 07:32 PM I know your looking Nabil! darkducati 05-16-2005, 07:54 PM I figured I'd lend a helping hand. Why are we so eager to hit 1,000? SilverEIGHT 05-16-2005, 08:01 PM Hi darkducati, it's just a silly game we have played on this thread! See who makes the magic numbers. SilverEIGHT 05-16-2005, 08:08 PM darkducati, I may have seen you around L'ville. Do you ever travel the 316/HighHope/Ga20 area? SilverEIGHT 05-16-2005, 08:08 PM :D darkducati 05-16-2005, 08:22 PM You suck! LOL You have probably seen me. I live by the Mall of Ga. What color is your car? Any mods? darkducati 05-16-2005, 08:26 PM I am so retarded. Could it be.....silver! Where you turning left from sugarloaf into the Kroger parking lot a couple of weeks ago with a titanium eight that was dropped with exhaust behind you? If so, that was me. legokcen 05-16-2005, 08:27 PM You suck! LOL You have probably seen me. I live by the Mall of Ga. What color is your car? Any mods? Please don't tell me that you just asked "SilverEIGHT" what color his car is...... :) Welcome to the thread. It's great having more show up. SilverEIGHT 05-16-2005, 08:37 PM Well, I've seen several Ti's around and I do head the Sugarloaf direction a good bit to shop at Microceter & Fry's. Don't remember that specific incident. I'll keep a look out for you in the area. You can tell mine by the red brake callipers and "SilverEIGHT" on the back window. Stop me if you see me and say Hi! Lego, you are late for the race, dude! I was wanting a dash for the finish. SilverEIGHT 05-16-2005, 08:39 PM Oh, and I drive by the MOG everday to and from work. darkducati 05-16-2005, 09:08 PM SilverEIGHT I'll definitely say hi if I see you. Do the same if you see me. I have a DriftMechaniks sticker in the back window. rxeightr 05-16-2005, 09:29 PM Damn -- I'm always late to the party. SilverEIGHT 05-17-2005, 06:16 PM What video? :D Spent the day at Mazcare... Got my screens and sway bars installed. Charlie is the man! darkducati 05-17-2005, 07:46 PM Yes, do tell. I am thinking about adding those to my setup. Tell us, quick! SilverEIGHT 05-17-2005, 07:52 PM Very interesting! They are named wrong; should be "NoSway bars". It feels more like the go-karts we were driving the other night. Seems like the steering takes more effort... is that true or was I imagining it? The overall feel is awesome. It's what I've always wanted in a car and never had. SilverEIGHT 05-17-2005, 08:04 PM darkducati, did you get the PM I sent you? darkducati 05-17-2005, 08:09 PM Very interesting! They are named wrong; should be "NoSway bars". It feels more like the go-karts we were driving the other night. Seems like the steering takes more effort... is that true or was I imagining it? The overall feel is awesome. It's what I've always wanted in a car and never had. SWEET! Did they change the balance of the handling. Maybe a little less push? Phlash 05-17-2005, 08:12 PM What video? :D Spent the day at Mazcare... Got my screens and sway bars installed. Charlie is the man! Well it's about time!....:D Congrats on the new stuff!!! SilverEIGHT 05-17-2005, 08:24 PM SWEET! Did they change the balance of the handling. Maybe a little less push?Don't think Charlie made any adjustments. Wonder If I need to get that looked at? Well it's about time!.... Congrats on the new stuff!!!Thanks! I gotta long way to go to catch up to you guys. I have a grimlin on my sholder whispering "Flywheel" and I keep telling him to "shut up... warranty!" Marietta 8 05-17-2005, 08:35 PM No adjustments made but you will have to adjust your driving style a little as you get used to the feel. PM'd you too. Thanks again Don! SilverEIGHT 05-17-2005, 08:39 PM Totally enjoyed it! Thanks Charlie. olddragger 05-17-2005, 08:45 PM Correct Mr Charles. As individuals get faster on the track we are going to start seeing some understeer with power on. RB front bar is 200% over the stock(RB rear bar is bigger also). I have been reading some guys are actually going BACK to the front stock sway or maybe the Mazdaspeed one (its only 20% stiffer than stock). I definitly got some power on understeer in turn 7 last time out (tires where hot also) I will see if the RB springs will help with that plus a better alignment before I change the bars as I sure love that feel on the ramps! Get the flywheel, get the flywheel, get the flywheel Silver! Charlie will even throw in a free lunch! Olddragger olddragger 05-17-2005, 08:46 PM Have we gotten to a 1000 entries yet? OD SilverEIGHT 05-17-2005, 09:04 PM Yep... you are #1021 Phlash 05-25-2005, 05:48 AM Have we gotten to a 1000 entries yet? But I like it. Kinda like drifting, I suppose. Here's me at the MazFest after the 140mph sweeper. Getting ready to pass. I think this is only around 115mph. SilverEIGHT 05-28-2005, 02:42 AM SWEET! Post that on the RX7 club for some bashing! :D Do you think the RB front end links are needed with the RB sway bars. I held off but I'm wondering now if I should have gotten them. I didn't want to drill larger holes, as required. rxeightr 05-28-2005, 06:46 AM Do you think the RB front end links are needed with the RB sway bars. I held off but I'm wondering now if I should have gotten them. I didn't want to drill larger holes, as required. I know the feeling! But I went ahead & installed them. Did my own install which was like cutting into something alive :( Glad that I did. It would only be a good idea IF you plan on being quite agressive with your cornering, or plan on running mucho amounts of autocross or HPDE events. BTW, thanks for the present I received -- much appreciated. Quite commendable all the time you put into this 'little' project. SilverEIGHT 05-28-2005, 08:49 PM I know the feeling! Hill 05-29-2005, 01:39 AM My DVD won't load on my computer. Do I need certain software to be able to watch it? CRH SilverEIGHT 05-29-2005, 05:11 AM Charles, the DVD is just images. All you can do is browse and open images. These are the photos straight out of the camera. There is no interface for viewing on the CD so you must view the contents instead of waiting for a program to start. If you need assistance for viewing images you can probably ask Nabil, Phlash, Lego or someone else using a PC that has already accessed the images. I use a Mac so I might not be telling you properly how to access. Sorry for any problems. A movie DVD will come at a later date just in case you were thinking this was the movies. olddragger 05-29-2005, 09:48 AM Razz 1 nice pic. you still running oem tires? olddragger legokcen 05-29-2005, 09:56 AM Charles, Just explore the CD and you should be able to view all the images as thumbnails and pull them up by doubleclicking on them... As a Mac user, Don is completely ignorant of how to use a PC. Poor him... :) I bet you he goes into convulsions when he sees a DOS C:\> prompt. Charles R. Hill 05-29-2005, 10:16 AM The problem I am having is that the optic block refuses to focus. I tried to play/load(whatever) the c.d. again and the laser lens refuses to lock on a focus. Having repaired c.d. players for Sony in the past I have gained extensive knowledge on how they sound when certain issues are cropping up. These things happen sometimes. My other stuff is okay so I must have gotten the disc that Don made near the end of his drinking binge and he forgot to finalize it.:) Just kidding, D. CRH Charles R. Hill 05-29-2005, 10:35 AM Aha. Problem solved. Thanks. I'll take it to my mommy's house and she can see it, too. CRH Razz1 05-29-2005, 01:07 PM Just about ready to buy some Kumho's ESTA MX 245/40x YR18 If not I will pick the BF Goodrich T/A KDW 245/40x YR18 It was recomended to intall the front end links so I did it. I like it because the front end is super stiff. On the twisties I can keep the pedal to the metal. Being aggressive in the corners is where the speed and the fun is at. SilverEIGHT 05-29-2005, 07:09 PM ... As a Mac user, Don is completely ignorant of how to use a PC. Poor him... :) I bet you he goes into convulsions when he sees a DOS C:\> prompt.Does not compute! What are you doing Dave?... I can handel... erk... doe.. I... can handel it... I.... must .. (flips over onto floor) I.... help me!.... I can't handel DOS prompts! Need beer! Razz1 06-01-2005, 12:18 AM Ok Bass Ale on the way. the ship just left England. SilverEIGHT 06-08-2005, 08:15 PM I have almost completed the first of two videos from our March NASA event. I hope to have it posted by tomorrow evening. This is just a teaser to make sure you are paying attention. It is part 1 of 2 and is from Friday's tunner session at MAZCARE. I will post it first and when I have time I will start working on part 2 which is Saturday's and Sunday's activities. Thanks for you patients, except Nabil! :D Just kidding Nabil, I love you jabbing. SilverEIGHT 06-10-2005, 06:32 PM YEA! I'm back online. I got temporarily, unintentionally, data corrupted, banned from communicating with you guys and I was going into DT's. Thanks Nabil for being my liaison. OMG, that is like being without your 8! Speaking of being without your 8, what's up Lego? SilverEIGHT 06-11-2005, 06:32 PM OK, the teasing is over for movie part 1. Go check out our tuning session from Friday before the NASA event on my website: http://silvereightstudio.com Scroll down to "Videos - Road Race Courses" / "Road Atlanta NASA Event, March 19-20, 2005" and choose one of the movie types. I saved it out as Quicktime (.mov) and Windows Media Player (.wmv). I STRONGLY suggest you view the .mov file, as it is 10 times better quality than the .wmv file. Marietta 8 06-11-2005, 08:59 PM Very cool Don! Thanks for the advertising and all of the great footage. SilverEIGHT 06-11-2005, 09:11 PM Thanks! My pleasure. valpac 06-11-2005, 09:46 PM Yep, couldnt get the . MOV to work either, but the other worked just fine. Excellent work Don. Enjoyed it. SilverEIGHT 06-11-2005, 11:14 PM Please try the .mov file now and let me know if it works. legokcen 06-12-2005, 09:37 AM Your site is turning into a masterpiece. It's wonderful. legokcen 06-12-2005, 11:51 AM Please try the .mov file now and let me know if it works. Love the video. Silver8, you are a genius!!! SilverEIGHT 06-12-2005, 06:06 PM Pardon my interruption but... we are about to hit another milestone on this thread... 10,000 views! As of 45 seconds ago, we were at 9,995! legokcen 06-12-2005, 11:03 PM Wow, I'm glad I could contribute! I feel like I'm now part of a winning team! Phlash 06-13-2005, 07:20 AM Hey Phlash - how was the NASA event last weekend? Did you work it? This past weekend.......awesome track....No pictures or video (forgot any form of a camera)...if I hadn't had my head on trying o make sure I had everything together with the camper I'd have forgotten it as well. I think I'm gonna work the RA event as well...maybe the savannah track so that I can get some idea of it before running the Sept event.... SilverEIGHT 07-16-2005, 09:05 PM Just when you thought this thread was dead... I've finally started editing the video for Part 2 which is the actual event. I know it's been a long time but I'll have it eventually. Thought I better try to get it done before you guys run agan at the next NASA event. I have tons of stills and vids to work with but its gonna be worth it. rxeightr 07-16-2005, 10:50 PM Way cool news -- thanks for all that you are doing. SilverEIGHT 07-17-2005, 12:11 AM 215 video clips to sort through, plus millions of pics, man this is tugh editing... I can't remember the classes What were they? Tell me if this is correct? HPDE 1: The main group of 8's HPDE 2: OD and Charlie (day 1) OD and Nabil (day 2) Small Bore: Big Bore Instructors? Were there 5 classes? SilverEIGHT 07-23-2005, 10:56 AM CRAP! I lost audio in my computer... my production has come to a halt! I may have to wait till next weekend to continue when I can buy a new computer. I think we have a "Tax Free" weekend coming up and I can save a little money on a new machine. Good excuse for an upgrade. Can someone help me on my post (#1059)? SilverEIGHT 07-23-2005, 05:51 PM Makes me feel part of history! :D |
