The new direct-injection turbocharged 2.3-litre engine achieves a rare blend of low emissions, excellent fuel efficiency, and high performance. Its total output of 206 kW (280ps) at 6,500rpm and maximum torque of 360Nm at 3,500rpm qualifies the Mazda6 MPS concept car as a serious driving machine, while meeting all relevant low emission regulations. In Europe, the Euro IV levels are met; in the USA and Japan the respective ULEV standards are fulfilled.

An all-new traction system is employed, effortlessly transmitting the power of the Mazda6 MPS concept car onto the road. The 4WD system used in the Mazda6 is combined here with an active torque control. The result is an electronically controlled torque-split 4WD system that is suitable for high performance cars and gives precise tyre-to-road contact even at high revs. The active torque control both front and rear ensures exceptionally smooth running and safe stability control. In addition, the torque responsive LSD (Limited Slip Differential) improves cornering ability by eliminating power loss during manoeuvring. The Mazda6 MPS concept car is also equipped with a six-speed manual transmission that makes it responsive to plenty of torque. Appropriately for a high-performance car, the shift distances have been shortened to allow fast and accurate gear changes.

interior dash = bling :D

The interior is ill! Maybe if the current 6 sells well they should bring this over to compete with the TL-S and G35 Sedan.

Don't think I like the cargo net seats though...

Dude that car is sick. I especially like the interior. I always liked a blue lit interior. And since its a duller color it won't strain my eye at night when I'm tired.

the rumor is the US won't get it. :mad:

if the rumour about the 6 not coming to the US is true then whats the point of Mazda trying to make the car smog legal in the US?

I love how the rpm and boost needles are right together. I can just imagine revving through the gears and watching both of those needles sweep across simultaneously as I row through the gears. :)

Direct injection? I'm very skeptical about this. DI engines have been on the market for awhile in Japan, but no car company has gotten them to meet US emissions standards. It's not because the US has much stricter emissions laws than Japan, it's due to the fact that our gasoline regulations aren't as strict.

I love the dash , but I do not like the white seats.

I like the seats there.....wait....you know what after staring at the seats they do start to look a bit ghetto.

There will be an MPS (Mazdaspeed) version of every car that Mazda markets in the United Sates and they all evntually will be available here. You can bet on it.:cool:

Look at the speedometer. The outside ring (generally the primary numbers) are MPH, and the KM/h are on the inside.

If this car isn't coming to the US, why would they do the dash that way?

The car is pretty sweet. I'm not sure I lilke blue lights (VW's are cool to look at, but I can NEVER focus on blue backlights at night....I don't think I'm in the minority either). Seats....different colors please.

A great car to have IMHO.

remember that MPS andMazdaspeed are 2 seperate entities in the Mazda family. MPS i n Japan an Mazdaspeed here. Mazdaspeed parts are already availble for the 6 as shown in this thread (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=41514&highlight=mazdaspeed#post41514) . Start with Maestro's post and read thru mine. there is a link in mine to another thread about the MPS6 and a link to an article in wards auto about how charlie hughes says the awd may not be ready in time for the expected launch of the MPS6. you will have to register with wards to read the whole article.

Also, Mazdaspeed is the culmination of aftermarket companies working WITH Mazda to make a car like the Protege, a better, faster, better handling car.

Personally I'd prefer them badging the Mazda6 under the MPS line, because that's Mazda's in-house team of engineers. And while aftermarket companies make a car better, they don't do it with the COHESION that an automaker can make a car come out of the factory.

That's of course, just my opinion :)

Whether they badge it under MPS or Mazdaspeed, I hope they bring it Stateside! Looks like a great car. Should give a few pricier rides a run for their money.

The UK still measures distances and speeds in miles and miles per hour.

actually if you look closely it's all km/h...they just alternate between the inside/outside ring. :I
