3. i pay about $1400 in total ... but i have my car registered in Victoria.

I get 425 - 450Km per tank to amber light approx. (do your own math for your own area) with about 75/25 highway/city on Toyo Garit 17" and mostly no snow so far. Using 91 Octane both Esso and Safeway.
I'm paying $1203/yr. for insurance

I get about 450km per tank, but have put it away for the winter. My insurance is $540.00/6 months, I only have fire and theft on it in the winter. I pay a total of $590.00/year including taxes. It only cost $50.00 for 6 month insurance fire and theft. I use Esso premium which is 91 octane I beleive. I have tried the higher octane, did not notice any difference.

Here's the info from a fellow Vancouverite:
1. Fill up every 10 days (but only because I drive ~30km/day). 100% city driving. Average 330km/fillup.
2. I stick with 92 octane from Chevron. 87 is okay, as many others will attest
3. I pay $2100 a year. Maximum discounts (Roadstar for ICBC). When I bought, I had to buy the full comprehensive package/3rd party because the 8 was a new car. Not sure if it changes in 2005.

Those paying less than $1,000 a year in insurance, I hope the insurance company is real/reputable. The last thing you don't wat is if you crack up the car ort kill someone, God forbid, the insurance company will be there without issue.
Read your policy top to bottom. Something you think you are cobvered for may not be. One last thing, don't buy insurance from a guy selling it out of his trunk!
I pay $1,600 per year $500 deductable. Perfect record (if you can beleive that) for over 20 years.

I also read in a business publication that Victoria has one of the highest crime rates per capita????? Told a friend that goes there a lot and he could not beleive that report even though he read it for himself. I guess petty crimes and possibly a lot of alcohol related crimes. Actually BC is the worst province overall. Strange actually that such a beautiful provice has such a bad rap
hahaha...Victoria "crime"...now that's funny...lived there for 5 years and about all that happens is drunk university students (me) and too many hippy buskers on the street playing their musical instruments. I do remember the article about Victoria having a high crime rate, though...funny chit.
back to the original questions:
1. How much $ do u usually spend for gas in a month?
$120
2. What octane does an 8 require?
I use Gold at Shell (I think it's 92)
3. How much are u guys paying for insurance?
$2100/year...was paying $3800 until a couple months ago when Alberta had an insurance reform. I was like "ouch"...went from $700/year in Victoria to $3800/year in Calgary

Does stock means always better? Coz I got the bodykits and spoiler all OEM?
Anyways.. I applied for my discounts with 4 yrs driving history about last month.. how long does it usually take to get the discount guys?
Another one.. I just got my full license as well.. how long does it take for the card to arrive at my place usually? Coz I passed last month too.. Is it possibly because it's a holiday season so all mails got jammed up? anyone can help me?

stock isn't always better - but the dealer wants to be able to sell the car again. if there are aftermarket parts on it, the person looking at the car might not like it. If the bodykit is OEM ask the dealer if it will lower the price on your trade in.
you have to apply for discounts from ICBC? i thought you just had to keep your record clean (no accidents/tickets)?
Mail will probably be slower around Christmas time. Usually takes less than a week to get your license in the mail, doesn't it?

You basically start at 0 C.R.S. level when you're a new driver. For every year of accident-free driving, you drop in C.R.S. level by 1 point. You get in an accident, you'll likely see your C.R.S. level rise. So by ROADSTAR, I mean driving at least 9 years accident free (yes a VERY long time). I think the unadjusted premium for the 8 is around ~$4000 annually. So that is likely what you'll be paying.. very close to your TSX I suspect. Although, they may have adjusted the premiums for RX-8 in 2005 (not-sure).
I test drove the RSX the day before I bought the RX8. There is NO COMPARISON. Do what you have to do to get yourself into one, so yes sell the RSX
And the worst dressed. I don't think there's a new clothing store in Vic is there? All there are is recycled clothes from the 60's and 70's floating around there- that and needles...

im paying $306/mo or $3,672 now for my TSX (without any discounts). im using allwest insurance and they told me it's around 5% per year discount? i have a 4yr clean record insurance from my homecountry so that means im gonna get my ($306 - (20% x 306)) x 9 months = $550.80 then?
glad i can help!
i think if you immigrated, then you start at 0% ... i think it has to be a clean driving record in BC.
the discount applies to your basic insurance and your optional insurance. the $3762 that you are paying is probably the cost of insurance + interest if you're paying monthly.
