Hi there everyone,
I'm new to the board and I'm about to put a deposit on the RX-8 this weekend.

An interesting fact that the dealer told me today, we in Canada have two models, GS and GT, basic difference is that GT has leather seats and HID headlights while GS has cloth seats and halogen headlights.

But the dealer also told me that GT has a Limited Slip Differential while the GS has an Open Differential. Now is this true? Cause on mazda.ca website, there is no mention of the Open Diff anywhere in the specifications. It just says that GS has LSD only if it's a 6spd manual while the GT column says the LSD comes standard.

I hope you guys can clarify a few things for me, thanks!

He's wrong as far as I know. The base car has no differential, the GT has the torsen limited slip.

I'd love to see the RX-8 transfer the power to the rear wheels without a differential.. :p

a Tochigi-Fuji Limited Slip Differential. I could swear I remember seeing it around. Can anybody confirm this?

That WOULD explain the slower than anticipated 0-60 time...and we thought it was a sticking 6P valve ;)

Yes, as stated Tochigi-Fuji ( I believe its the Model 14) is standard in all Canadian manual shifters. Its a snow thing.

Manual tranny cars in the U.S. all get the LSD standard as well, and it's included with any of the three option packages (Sport, Touring, Grand Touring) with the Auto.

So the only way to get an open diff in the U.S. is to get a base auto tranny car...

gotcha! thanks for the clarification guys! I swore that both GS and GT model would have LSD as long as they were 6MT.

Now, to decide whether to get Sunlight silver or Titanium Gray.
