Alright all you SE RX8 owners. You may have missed the fun we had at Road Atlanta on Oct 9th but don't let the next event pass you!

Who is in for this upcoming track day? Information is available at the Panoz website at http://www.panozracingschool.com/TrackDays.asp

Here is the skinny: There are 3 groups. Group C is for people who havn't driven at Road Atlanta. Group A and B is for those with previous RA track day experience. We had 8 RX8s in group C on Oct 9th and we all had an awesome time. Look at the "Mazda Track Day at Road Atlanta" thread to read some of the participant's accounts and see some pictures. Speeds were pretty much unlimited and we got a chance to see what our cars can really do. We actually had 2 track sessions in the rain and still hauled ass. We also looked great running together on the track :)

Price is: $225 for Saturday, $325 for Sunday, or $500 for both days. With 6 or more people we get a 10% discount.

Who is in?

whats the reason for the $100 difference betwen saturday and sunday?

There is no group C on Sunday so the A and B groups get more track time.

Yes I'm in! Do you thinks if we get enough 8's then we can have our own B session ? That would be cool, look cool and 9k sound cool! Plus I hate the passing problems that can come up! ANYONE can plass me on turn 12! Driving alone vs following will be a BIG differance guys. ANyone interested in bringing a transponder in order to get some accuate track times?
Nabil, does Mazcare stock the rb bars? How about the flywheel?

can you tell the diferrrance with the rb suspension. My stock set up seemed to be capable of more than I could give it,....except for turn 12 in which i would really enjoy a little more damping in the dip. I'll spent the money If it makes a differance. What is your most prestigious expert opinion oh great one?
B class will try to pass you on the front straight and I thought I saw a couple really cut it close. may have been a bifocal artifact.

I'm going to probably have to get a hotel room, and I want to call some places and make sure they'll take me in (only 20 :( )

I am probably gonna sit this one out unless bonus comes early (the corvette needs $$$), will do it again in the spring time, though.

As for a place to stay, if you want to make a big ordeal out of it, Chateau Elan is well worth it. It would make a very nice 3 day weekend getaway. Golf, race, etc...

Oh, my video is a no show. The bolt came loose and I got good audio, but mostly pictures of trees and such. Lego says he is working on his (great quality) and will edit and post on the web soon.

OK. I got the video on VHS, but I have to buy a firewire card to get it onto the computer. I just ordered it. Here's what it looks like on the TV. Sorry, as soon as I get the firewire kit, I'll get it to my computer and then get it onto CD or DVD.

I took some pictures of what it looks like on the TV. A little lame yes, but at least it shows you what it's like. It looks great on a large screen TV. Almost like you're sitting in the back seat and watching.

Hey guys. Sounds like y'all had a big time a couple of weeks ago. Olddragger is a friend of mine (albeit a much older friend ;) ) and he's been babbling on about the trip since he got back. For some reason, I get the feeling he doesn't like turn 12. Is it just me? Anyway, I haven't tracked Road Atlanta, but I was up there at Petit LeMans last month and the track is awesome. Olddragger just about has me talked in to the December trip if I can work it in around Christmas and house renovation expenses. I currently drive a VW R32 (although I think the 8 is a killer car) and it needs its track cherry popped. If you guys don't mind an AWD interloper being around, I'd like to get in on the group discount. Hey, regardless, everyone's goal for the next trip should be to have Olddragger drifting turn 12 by the end of the day. That would be a sight.

Phlash
10-19-2004, 10:14 AM

Legokcen - you mentioned I was in front of you in the first video. Surely you weren't cussing me out. It's OK if you were but keep the sound and just stamp the video "parental advisory" or PG-13 or something.

No no no. It wasn't you at all. It was the whole accordian affect of the group. We would all bunch up around the turns and you would have to start braking really early so that you didn't get too close to the person in front. I'd never curse another RX-8 driver.

I spoke with Charlie at Mazcare earlier today. He is opening up his shop to us again the evening before our track event. The number at Mazcare is 770-859-9643.

Some people asked about getting various Racing Beat parts through Mazcare... Charlie is a dealer so he asked me to pass along that you should call him if you want anything so it can get in before the Track Day.

And one last thing. Charlie is planning on joining us on track at Road Atlanta on Saturday. Scott is coming too with his insane RX7 drift monster! We are gonna have us one hell of a time.

No, not nervous - excited! The RX8 continues to amaze me with its capabilities and overall driving expereince. I look forward to some quality time on a track. I had an awesome drive last Saturday through Dahlonega in the north GA mountains. Read my review of the drive here: http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=42839

An additional FYI - Charlie at Mazcare has the Racing Beat intake on order. I think he is getting about a half dozen in once they are available out of the very first batch. I was excited to hear that but unfortunatly there is no telling when they will actually ship. If you want to get one out of that first batch too, call him to put your name on one. I hope they are here in time for Christmas, or better yet - Dec 11th!

It's not you guys I'm worried about. It's the guy in the Mustang GT who's got a big "3" sticker on his bumper and thinks the GT can handle. You guys I'm confortable with. The "unbalanced" cars, I'm not.

Hopefully they'll be able to get us all in a group again. That way we'll run together. The guys in Group A are going to have to take lots of pictures and video of us. I'll take the same for them.

Guys,
So everyone is braving the B class Huh! Well--- i'm REALLLY excited about that. Lets see B class+idiots (NOT the 8 guys and gals) + turn 12 equals----- cardiac arrythmias, elavated b/p,dialted pupils and profuse diaphoresis. Hmmm kinda sounds like a rave doesn't it? Hell I cant dance anyway.
Nabil, nice description of your mountain drive. I enjoyed reading it. Does Charlie have any turn 12 swaybars/endlinks in stock(racing beat of course)?
Yea it would be VERY cool to have a all 8--- B class run but I don't think we will have that many! But like yall said maybe all of us can be in the same session.
Anyone having any runout on their disc's yet?

I have no idea. I recall him saying he had some RB stuff ordered. It may have been a few exhausts. I don't recall.

Are you in B? All B cars run together regardless of make. THe very first session of the day is lead follow preceded by the infamous van tour of the track. After that, you are on your own but no racing is allowed.

The wind noice is really heavy when we get to the 100+ mark. Mostly with both windows down. I'll also be able to get vibration out next time with a little mounting adjustment.

Anyone get the squeaky brakes fixed? How do the brakes feel afterwards. I'm gonna get mine repaired a little before the event.

Hey Pam - the only close out date is when they fill up. I imagine that B fills up sooner since those who run in C are dying to come back for their 2nd run (like us). Call in sick, do something! I know you are rarin' to put the pedal down and soar down the hill through turn 12.

Wankel fever sounds good! I guess we are all sick.
I have a surprise, I have a surprise, I have a surprise! AND you'll just have to wait and see. Man, I'm bad. No it's not an STD. And no I didn't get an aarp discount from panoz. And YES it has to do with my car. And no, it will not help me with turn 12. You'll see on 12/11.
Anyone gotten the new brake pads yet? See tech bullitins (sic). I think my friend with the r32 will not be able to come. Something about needing money for shelter and food. Some people just never get their priorities straight. (JK Mr Tarmak.) Maybe the next time.

11-04-2004, 10:13 AM
The following is from an email I got from the guy that was driving the red FD on 10/9 that tagged the wall. Poor guy has had a string of bad luck.......

"Yup, that was me! I hit the wall at about 1-2mph. It was nothing. Just cosmetic damage. I finished out the day on the track just fine (110-120 miles or so on the track). I was coming out of the esses onto turn 5, hit the berm that they suggest just going over (except maybe when it's wet, like it was), and I hit a little too much gas and went into a spin and hit the outside wall. The spin started as such a low speed thing, that the worst it could've been was not even 5% of what that Miata went through. I scared the crap out of my Dad, who was my passenger for the 2nd and 3rd session. That was the third spin during that session. That should have been a clue.

As far as it "hurting"... not really. I'm just in this funk right now where everyone and everything is hitting my car. I'm kinda numb to it all now. I've had 4 body damage incidents since last December. It started on Christmas Eve with a deer (insurance covered it, but I had my $500 deductible). Lots of damage, but the car still drove straight, and the broken windshield didn't let wind or rain in. Then, I was hit and run right before the 4th of July when my car was parked (I paid to have it fixed out of pocket). Then someone backed into the passenger side door at work a month or so later, again, while the car was parked, but the guy at least seeked me out and paid for it through his insurance. Then turn 5 at Road Atlanta. And that was the only one of the four incidents that was my fault. We are now taking bets on when my next damage will occur (regardless of fault). I'm in for mid-Dec. :).

Good to hear the driver of that Miata is going to be ok and will get right back on the horse.

Thanks for contacting legokcen. I'm not a member of the RX-8 Forum, as I don't even bother lurking there. I do on the RX-7 Forum, as MPython. I know some RX-8 folks that post there. Our Florida car club allows any rotary, not just 7's. So we have a mix of the 8's, all generations of 7's, and RX-2's, RX-3's, RX-4's, RX-100's, etc."

Alright! I got the video on the computer. I'm looking at different quality settings and I've been able to get it down to 21MB for 30 minutes of the last session. I can FTP it to Phlash's server if you want. The 1 hour portion which is the second and third session is about 44 MB's at a medium quality setting. 15 frames/second. I'll send that too. I can get it all on high quality onto a CD in windows media player format.

Phlash, let me know how much space there is on the ftp and I'll send it to you if you want. Amazing how easy it all was once I got the firewire card installed.

Can't wait to tape the next one. I got an autocross this weekend too and I'll post some videos of that too.

You got the 4th track session. It's 30 minutes. 21 MB. I've also got a 148 MB version of the same thing, but higher resolution and frame rate. Let me know if you want that one too. I'll send the 2nd and 3rd sessions (1 hour long) after playing with more compression settings.

Cool!!! Smooth driving Levent! I enjoyed watching that run. That looked like the 4th session. Looking forward to the other videos too.

I can't wait until our time on Dec 11th. I saw Charlie on Wednesday. He had his registration to Panoz complete. Still planning a get together the night before at his shop. Since the registration is per person not per car, he said he may take his Corvette powered RX7 to the track as well as his RX8.

Looks like this thread will blow away the number of posts and views of our last track day thread. Woohoo.

Thats how we get it done in the south

I haven't sent my paperwork in yet but I plan on being there. And hmmmm I have a couple of little interesting things to show all. Nothing spectacular after all I'm just an oldman with lots of money! Oh yea did I mention at times I have been known to be quite delusional. Thank God for electric shock therapy. It really helps.
I will be there! Oh I have said that already haven't I. I guess B class. Do we get the discount this time? Do I understand correctly that the 1st session still requires a lead driver?
This will be even better than the last time. Do I count 5 or 6 counting me?

I faxed my "stuff "on 11/14 and I spoke with Shane or Shawn anyway one of them!It still wasn't full so it looks like I should be in. Getting new brakes this week from the tsb of mazda and also the new pcm flash. I also have a true cold air intake with the air intake being directly behind the front rotor symbol. Its a custom job. I think everyone may like it. I also may have one more surprise by track date.
Oh yea, I did sign up for b class. I also have a picture of turn 12 on my office wall and i cuss it out everyday! Nabil, you ever get your suspension straighten out? No pun intended. So 25 days to go.

11-19-2004, 10:44 PM
Mazcare is Charlie's place.....

http://www.mazcare.com/

Charlie is running with us also Dec 11. Great guy with a lot of helpful info. He's been doing Mazda's since 1992 and has raced for many years as well. He has a great setup and to beat all, he's a Racing Beat dealer. I am trying to get there a little early so that Charlie and company (you should see and hear Scott's drift car) can help me finish a couple mods. He can help with your track days inspection form.

He opened his shop to us last time. Something he claims he just doesn't do for anyone....:D

I'm changing a couple things (hehehe) he states he and Scott can do in about 15-20 minutes:eek:. I figure, at least an hour for me to do (although he told me he would give me some pointers);).

Even if it rains it will be awesome. In October we had rain for the first 2 runs and it was great. Just got to watch out in turn 5 at the top of the esses wherre the painted strips are slippery.

I made a camera mount for my car so I can do some of my own track videos. In testing it out I wasn't happy with the sound due to wind noise from the open windows. I am thinking of using an external microphone and possible putting it in the trunk. That may sound decent in there. Hopefully I will end up doing some heavy duty editing with music in the background etc.

See you in abbout a week...

Virginia Internationa Raceway, VIR, is holding their annual charity event on Friday, 12/10/04 from Noon to 4 PM. There is a $25 donation, either cash or food or gifts, to participate in the public track day. It is a great time to get on one of the most technically challenging road race courses in the Southeast and put your car thru some tight turns and fast straightaways. See how it really handles as a sports car. These public sessions will last about 30 minutes and since this is a weekday event the track will not be as crowded as it normally is on weekends.

If you would like to caravan up to Alton, Virginia, just north and a little west of Roxboro, NC we will be meeting up at the Walmart parking lot on Glenwood Ave, Hwy 70 west of Raleigh at 10:00 AM. This is an easy place to find and will eliminate the need to go into Raleigh and have to mix with the traffic that morning.

Easiest way to this Super Walmart location is to get off I-440 at the Crabtree Valley/Glenwood Avenue exit and go west on Glenwood until you see Briar Creek Shopping Center, Dicks Sporting Goods, on your left and another shopping center with a huge Super Walmart store, also there is a Red Robin Restaurant on the right. If anyone wants to meet earlier for breakfast at the Bob Evans Restaurant at Briar Creek just let me know.

From the Walmart we'll take Hwy 70 into Durham and take I-85 up to the Red Mill exit 182. Anyone that wants to meet up with us at this exit can wait at the Exxon station and we'll pick you up there. We will then take the GRR route up thru Bahama and pick Dave up if he is able to make it in his newly running 86 and find our way over to Hwy 501 to Roxboro. Then from Rox boro it is a short hop up to VIR and an afternoon of fun.

I'm going to have to put one in the trunk, one in the back seats, and one in the front seat to bring them up there. No little trailer yet. We'll see how she does with slicks on. I stayed at the scottish in on the same road as Road Atlanta. About $42/night with the corporate rate. You just have to show them a badge of where you are working. You can get their info from the road atlanta web site. It was one of the cheaper places I saw around there.

Perelli P Zero Racing Slicks. I got them used (4 heat cycles) from a porche 993 driver. I got them for $50 for all four so I'm not out that much. This way, I can learn to drive on the slicks before spending $$$ on new ones. I figure that I'll more than likely use them a few times and then get another set. But for $50, it's not bad at all. I'll be spending more money mounting them. :(

It's 120 MBs. I ripped it in 752 kbs. This way it is decent quality. If you want smaller, I should be able to compressed it to lower quality and send a 20 - 30 MB file.

Take care again everyone! I loved it and can't wait for the next event. NASA is March???

I should have known Nabil and legokcen would get posted first....

Nabil, I got stuck behing an entire row of grandma's and grandpa's...took me ten minutes to get out of the shopping center parking lot. But, I found my way out...thanks for hangin' back and trying (although I know it was killing you) to wait up.

What a day!! I will remember a cold, cold, cold day....coming off of turn three way, way to hot for me and/or my car (okay..me) and leaving my mark on the grounds of Road Atlanta at least until they plant new grass in the spring (can't wait to see that video Nabil)......a great group of people.......a wonderful, well run event....and the Porche boxster that entered the track with our group, tearing the front end off his car in the first session(what a start to the day). Despite me four wheeling through the grass between three and four (that was quite a humbling and embarrassing experience), I had a blast !! I am very aware from following lego and charlie through the "coaching" laps they had together, that I have a lot to learn about transition. I am also thrilled to state that I got to share the track with some of the most exotic cars in the world and am proud to say that I was giddy when the Viper, the AMG SL...with the hot Brazilian chick , the Panoz GT, and the 911T blew by me going 115-120 like I was standing still (the 911T driver told us later that they were doing almost 160 going into the brake zone). Damn that was cool!!! What a rush!!

Charlie, THANKS!! Your hospitality and willingness to help, share, and teach are indeed second to none. We were thrilled to have you at the event. As lego stated to us last night at dinner, we look forward to the time at your shop with you and the crew almost as much as the event the next day. I love the sound with this new setup. The track day was a great opportunity to blow it out, break it in, and bronze the tips....:D

Nabil, thanks once again for the extra push to get this all together. Denny, You're a hell of a driver man! Glad the new bars made such a diiference. Kirk, it was great to meet you and I look forward to seeing you again . Pam, so glad you were sick (cough, cough) enough to get away from work and join us. lego, I will get the video and stuff posted soon. Thanks for being our photo man.

hmmmm, the two day NASA event in the spring is calling from a distance......so is the "Mazcare" Little Taladega event........will our SE group hear the call???? oh, yes.......I bet we will.......:)

I've never done a track outside of FL (and there are several in it I haven't done either ;) )

The closest thing to an elevation change we have is at Homestead, where you go up the banking, then down the banking

Now if only I can convince the wife to let me drive up to RA :o

Well, well, well. What can I say? Awesome time, just awesome. If there is any 8 owner reading our thread that hasn't been to Road Atlanta, well what can I say. Man. Like Phlash said, on the track with some of the worlds fastest cars, hanging around some of the worlds best people, at an absoulutely beatiful location. Seeing a rx 7 with a corvette engine in it(with no weight gain!),amg's sl and sedan, vipers, 2005 vette, saleen mustangs, lotus's, full blown Panoz gt's,panoz esprints(sic) ---damn!
Sure was great to see everyone again also. It was better than an australian steak and the super bowl!
Mazcare-- man what a set up and what a welcome mat. Points to you Charlie,Scott and Allen. You got my business(even if they don't like canzoomers box!) Yall see the video of Scott dirfting? He's good. I even liked the dog they had. Made me feel like family from the time I walked in. Knows his stuff also. I can't wait for the report on his flywheel install.
The Rb sways DID make a big differance in handling. Transitioning was much quicker---much! It was easy to tell that I was running out of tire. The bridgestones seem to NOT like getting a little hot and they are very sensitive to the track temp(it was cold for us southerners). When I backed off the pressure from 40 cold to 38 cold they hooked up much better and much less push on exit at turn 7. Plus instead up going up 5 lbs after a session they only went up 4.
Am I the only one downshifting for turn 1? I approach at approx 108-to 112 or so and brake at the mark while downshifting entering the turn at approx 60-65(it does get busy there trying to keep the chassis stable with all that going on) BUT my turn exit speed was 81-82 and I found i didnt have to brake at all for turn 2 just back off the throttle some and it seemed i was gaining ground of whatever was in front of me at the time.
Hell of a driver!? I don't know about that but i sure was having fun! I have played a lot of video games!
That AMG sedan could not get rid of me! On the back straight he would gain about 6 car lenghts but by the time we got back to the esses I was right back on his butt! HeHe!
It sure was fun passing the mustangs, camaro, the 944 and the Mustangs(stock and modified)!
Oh yead , the Lotus I let go by me, he could pull me in midrange rpms on the staight but not at the top end. In the turns we were equal. Also it seemed that the race prepared 944 was equal in the turns with us but on the straight he blew my doors off! I think we surprised him on the back part of the track!
No doubt, the people there where looking at the 8's.
I wish some off those s-2's had been in our class.
Wasn't it cold! I came up friday evening with no socks on and a short sleeve shirt and the sunroof open. By Saturady I had put on all the clothes i had brought(2 pair jeans,2 shirts,1 pair of soxs and a light jacket, and hat) and was still cold (when I wasn't on the track).
Too all, Nabil ,Phlash, Lego, KurtBob, Pam, Charlie, Boo, I hope you have happy holidays and I am looking forward to NEXT time.

Denny,

I didn't downshift into turn 1 after driving with Charlie. I'm entering that turn at 77 mph and keeping a slight throttle. No brake untile turn 3.

Can't wait until next time. I'm sure Panoz is expecting us.

Alex,

I'm sure your wife will let you drive up if the two of you stay at the Chateau Elan. You can go to the track and she can go to the spa!

Man, I really tried to get over there on Saturday. Sorry I missed you guys. It wasn't till late in the day that I was able to drive over and all I got to see was three RX8s leaving, looked like on their way to Château Élan direction. I can't tell you how much I wish I had been there.

I went back on Sunday hoping some of you would be there but it was a no show for 8's. My intent was to do a series of photos and video for you guys. I was going to post a web site for you with all the goodies as a surprise. However all I got was stupid cars like Vetts, RX7, Supra, BMW's, Ferrari and a few others. (The “stupid” comment was a joke by the way) ?

I went ahead and made a temporary Photoshop web site just for the heck of it of Sundays events. If interested you can check it out at:

http://donyaun.com/TrackDays_12_04/

There is a lot of redundancy in types of images but I didn’t feel like editing them all out.

Next time I will do it for YOU guys. If you are ever participating in an event at Road Atlanta Please let me know. I will bring my Canon XL1 also and video for post production and edit for QT web movies.

Even though I didn't pay to drive the track again today, I did anyway ... in my mind. I relived it and thought about my good moments and spots where I could improve. It was a blast.

The alignment I had done really helped. It seemed much easier to steer with the throttle. The RB springs and sway bars help too. With some stickier tires, it will be better still. My tires are just about worn out, but surprisingly the alignment kept my tires from being featheredged too much. I'm running -1.6 deg. front camber, 6.5 deg. caster, -1.5 deg. rear camber. Zero toe in the front and -.04 deg. toe in the rear.

As soon as I get my Windows Media Player fixed I will watch the video clip. I'm having problems since I upgraded to Windows XP.

Lego,
Whats youre exit speed from turn 1? I tried leaveing it in 4th one time, entered faster like you said, but i couldn't pull any more speed through that uphill turn . I think when I entered the turn after dropping to 3nd I was doing about 65, hell i dont know i could have been going faster. Dropping from well over 100 to entering speed and trying to keep it smooth didnt give me much time to look at my speed! You try not to shift your vision around when you are wearing bifocals! All I know is my exit speed was good (79-82). This made 2 and 3 a breeze. for me. I could have pushed turn 2/3 faster if I wanted but I having too much fun with 4, that left handed sweeper before the downhill esses. I really like left handed turns.
Hey Silver, great job with the pics. Sorry we missed you.I can tell you are a good shooter! Stay tuned for the next event!

May be a good idea, but I did easily hit 90+ almost 100 on the esses. You may sacrafice that. You want to only downshift (heel/toe) while braking.

olddragger
12-19-2004, 11:14 PM
Guys,
As we all know the secret to the 8 is to keep it's powerband on. I was thinking that 3nd would be best in turn one but after looking at the videos and remembering my sessions I conculuded that we aren't using all the turn and we should be able to enter it much faster. I'm thinking we can enter between 75-80 and if's that works out the rpms in 4th will be good. You can do 3nd but it gets awful busy getting the chassis settled before the turn really starts. In 3nd i was exiting turn obout about 81. Hell i think i can ENTER that turn at about that now then downshift to 3nd at the entrance to turn 2---you need that power for 2-3nd turn for acceleration. The esses for me is wide open in 3nd. Lots of room on the exit.
About the price ---er I agree Thats too high. I would have to look for something else if I wanted to do it more than once a year. $275? Must be for the insurance because we sure dont get any instruction. Hck they didn't even give us our time back from the 1st session thatwas cut short. Its a great setup , nice, knowledgeable guys and all. <aybe it's getting too popular.

12-28-2004, 01:56 PM
Yep! I will be participating from a Photojournalist point of view. I will be attending Saturday and Sunday if this is when you guys are going to be there. I will take my bicycle so I can be in different parts of the track. If the event is as lax as it was this December then getting photos will be a piece of cake. I can go anywhere I need. If the event is more of a spectator event, then I will have to get special permission. I’m supposed to be representing a legitimate publication to get photo credentials for the really good areas on spectator type events. Maybe we could use “RX8Club.com”? Don’t know if it qualifies. Any idea what I should expect?

I will bring my Nikon D70 for stills and Canon XL1 for digital video. I would hope to be able to get copies of what you guys shoot so I can take to post production for a RX-8 event video. We could dub it from your camera to mine if yours is digital.

You guys would want to go ahead and post you vids ASAP as usual cause mine will take a little while to produce but I think it will be worth it.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I would like for someone to have a second camera focused on the tachometer so I could inset it as a PIP . I think I could sync them with no problem. I might even be able to get a small JVC-DV cam if needed but we would have to work out the details on mounting.

What do ya say?

legokcen

Nabil--- has full rb suspension and catback
Phlash-- has rb catback and mazdaspeed flywheel
Legokcen--stock plus k/n drop in filter

Charlie-has custom exhaust and he will probaly have his flywheel in by then.does he have the rb suspension?

12-30-2004, 08:29 PM
Nabil,
I agree. I believe the enthusiasts approach will be the best. Rotory heads are already known for that. I think the interest will be that this is a new car,a new type of car and a reinsertion of the rotory concept. We have to think of what makes us differant from any other car group ie.(the Miata's, the Z's or the Corvette's). It would be cool to see the 8 on the track passing some others etc then a shot of the car leaving the track and going to Home Depo and putting 2x4x8 pieces of lumber through the truck and pass through ,then driving home with all the windows and trunk closed and then when arriving home show 4 people getting out of it and unloading the lumber. I cant think of another car that can do that with the style and performance of the 8.

I'm thinking the NASA stuff would be a nice change and the same amount of laptime as Panoz. Is the price for just one day or both? Web site kinda sux in clarifying. I would have to join as well.

I think any kind of press about a group of folks that get together when they can to share a common interest is a good thing. I'm open to what ever.....

legokcen
12-30-2004, 10:02 PM
I've talked to them about two avenues of an article.
1: several modded and stock 8's on the same track. Impressions, improvements, etc. A Technical Article.
2: How a car and it's love for it can bring a group of strangers together to become friends and meet for these track days. Also show what is available for other rotorheads to participate in. A Non-technical Atricle.

I think RXTuner would like #1, but hope they would settle for #2 if #1 isn't possible.

The NASA event shows promise. I'd like to do it.

I just washed the 8 today, so I'll take a pic with the new wheels and show you all.

legokcen
12-31-2004, 11:28 AM

legokcen

Yeah, the 245 40 18 Kumho's are on them. The slicks are on the stock rims and they will be used on the 9th at the next autocross. I'll let you know how they do.

I'll more than likely do the NASA event as well.

Ebay actually. $499 + shipping. They came in about 2 weeks. They are +45 offset so they are close to the stock +50. 245's wrap around them really nice with no bulge and you get more thread on the ground than the stock 8.0" wheels.
