Spoke to dealer in melbourne they told me that first deliveries to be 1st and 2nd week of august at the earliest , anyone know any other information on dates .The guys in U S A .i am told get all their cars plated as an 2004 year car why does australia get late cars and still plates them 2003 ??.When you go to upgrade the car dealers always let you know that your car is a 2003 and not 2004 year car even though it may be a december car If my car arrives to late i may as well wait till 2004 by then all the local car journalist would have put the rx8 through its paces .OLD SAYING BEST TO LEARN TO SHAVE ON SOMEBODIES ELSES FACE...

mazda from brighton mentioned 1st or 2nd week of august , they also mentioned that they have an rx8 in melbourne head office but the car was only available for viewingto mazda car people and not the public .I rang head office public relations explained that i had come from the GOLD COAST and would it be possible to view the rx8 ,as i never got a chance to see the rx8 at the brisbane motor show ,they told me that they havent got an rx8 in melbourne ??Someone is pulling someones leg . ANYHOW i have no choice but to wait test drive the rx8 and then see if i am prepared to part with the money.

I pre-ordered in mid-January.

Spoke to my dealer in early April and he told me that my car was confirmed for a May production and June delivery. 2nd from the top of the list in the first shipment into Sydney (& probably Australia by the sounds of it).

Went in again last week and was given a large, mounted poster of the X2 RX-8 and all the Aussie prices for the locally provided extras (I can list these in another thread if anyone is interested). They also confirmed that the car is still due for delivery in June.

I've written to the dealer this afternoon asking if they have specific, confirmed dates yet. I'll let you all know when I know.

Thanks , I pre ordered through Euro Mazda in Artarmon back in mid January. Rep there is friendly but clueless.

I was just surprised to hear their is an Oz extras list, as the sales guy as Euro specifically said 'what you see is what get'. Unless the extras PDU is talking about aren't specific to the RX8 such as tinting, paint protection, micro dotting etc etc.

I saw the extra list.. Nothing really, mostly cosmetics. Rear spoiler(looks bad. I think), gear knobs, etc...

Vancouver, I've listed the locally fitted extras in the following new thread :
Mazda locally fitted RX-8 extras - A$ pricing (http://www.rx8forum.com/showthread.php?threadid=4425)

Rossy, I have ordered though Mazda at Brookevale on the Northern Beaches, Sydney.
To be honest I haven't been the slightest bit impressed with the sales rep. He's not once proactively provided any information to me. I have to chase him for everything. I reckon I know more than him about the car through my own research and using this forum. The extras list by the way is Mazda RX-8 specific, not generic. Check out the link above.
