Hello St. Louisans,

I did not preorder for timing reasons.
I want to take delivery in September/October.

I am terrified, however, that the RX-8 will be difficult
to obtain during that time period.

I am currently negotiating with Northgate to place a
$500 refundable deposit on a dealer allocation and hope the
timing works out. They of course want a NON-refundable deposit.

Any other suggestions?

Explain your situation, tell them how interested you are, and propose a $1000 deposit, if they make it 'subject to test drive' (refundable).
Worked for me.----Don't let them charge you any more than LIST, also.----I had to change dealers, but got one at list.

in my haste and excitement i took my salesman's word that the dealership would refund my $500 if i decided not to buy the car...but they wouldn't put it in writing. that sales guy has since left the dealership and after talking to the sales manager i know i'm skrewed if i don't want the car after a test drive.

some STL guys mentioned lou fusz gave them written guarantees of deposit refunds. i wish i had been a bit more patient but i wanted to get into the 2nd allocation. i'm not TOO concerned cuz it would take an absolute catastrophe for me not to want the car after i drive it...but i have certainly learned my lesson.

anyway, stealth has a good idea. if they're a reasonable dealership they should be able to accomodate u.

p.s. - i'm dealing with bommarito in st. peters, mo

Thanks for the suggestions. I will check the dealer allocation inventory at Bommarito and try to secure one.(Titanium I hope!)
