I called my dealer today to ask if they have any delivery dates from Mazda Japan yet. I was told that yes they have heard from Japan with details as follows :

My car, which I pre-ordered in mid-January was always supposed to be in the first batch arriving in Sydney. It is scheduled for a May production with delivery in June. I was told that my name is 2nd on the list for the first batch or pre-orders.

Estimating a build time of 1 week and a shipping time from Japan of 3 weeks, I am anticipating a late June delivery. My dealer also expects to have the VIN for my car by the end of April.

Ours was ordered a coupla days ago (but deposited about a month ago); do you think it will be on the first boat? 1st in Tassie!!:D

Only your dealer will be able to answer that question for you when they ask Mazda Japan, but realistically I wouldn't be too hopeful of being in first batch for the following reason :

According to the latest press release on the Mazda Australia website they are saying that they have about 200 firm orders to date. If you consider the fact that pre-orders have been taken since early January, your March order is likely to be well down the list. But don't take my word for it.......call your dealer and ask them to find out. They should at least be able to give you an estimate of which month it will be produced.
