um.... wtf?
m flash is the just the latest data for your rx8's ecu. it fixes minor issues with the previous firmware and prevents flooding, leans out the fuel mixture a bit on some points. if your car is only a few weeks old chances are you already have the L or the M flash installed. i dont think i've ever heard of the m flash being associated with mileage or check engine lights.
rx8spiritR 06-02-2004, 01:01 AM RX8Bliss i totally agree with you, i think my 8 have the L flash done but not the M because i am running 14-16mpg when i divided by 16 from a full tank. and sometimes it take several second or second crank to get the car start i think is the flooding problem. anyway, i won't waste my time here in this forum asking stupid questions anymore i'll just take it to where it suppose to be taken care of.

OK, you have got to learn one thing if you want to post about mileage in the forum. As you don't want to search to find the 10s of times this has been gone over in minute detail... here's the skinny on how to figure MPG.
You NEVER divide anything by 16. Why? Because your gas tank is not even 16 gallons. It is 15.9 gallons, but... you don't use that number either. Why? Because you can never put that much gas in the tank at a fillup. So what number do you use? Why the number on the pump that tells you how many gallons you just put in the tank.
Then you sit in your car, and since you should set the trip odometer at each fillup, you can see how many miles you just drove since the last fillup. You use THAT number, and divide it by the number of gallons you put in the tank. THAT is your MPG for that last tank.
An example might be you fillup with 13 gallons, your trip odometer says you have gone 260 miles since the last fillup. You divide 260 by 13 and get 20MPG! Not bad.
Remeber it is still not perfect, unless you always fillup at the same station, same pump, as pumps auto-shutoff at somewhat different points, and bring variations into the fillup equation... BUT over several fillups, you can calculate an average mileage and get a very good MPG number for your car. :) But that's another lesson.
I hope that helped you, but pls start getting on the ball and learning something about cars and how they work!
Mikelikes2drive 06-02-2004, 11:47 AM RX8spiritR where are you from? you need some serious grammar lessons.... cmon
but yeah cerritos is the best... but they always forget to wash my car
xxdevilzeroxx 06-03-2004, 10:17 AM they always wash my car, just watch the water spots!
MeZoomZoom 06-09-2004, 05:36 PM Hey xxdevilzeroxx do you know the phone number or address to Browining Mazda in Cerritos. I'm taking a vaction to So. Cal. at the end of June so I would like to get the m-flash.
Thanks

310Guy 06-09-2004, 08:58 PM Anyone in the S.F. Valley area, Galpin Mazda is great. Sam (service rep) is cool. He currently drives an 8 also.
I had my M calibration done there.
rx8spiritR 06-10-2004, 05:35 AM how long does this take, when i take my car back to the dealer, and i told them i need a lastest flash. they just change some spark plugs, and did a PCM flash. and on the paper work, it states that the flash is due to lack of power....???? i can scan the paper work if anyone wanna see it. the service guy (mike) told me i should have better gas mileage, throttle response, better low end torque. but i end up having the same gas mileage(10-11), worest throttle response( i can feel it when i engage in 1st) , and lack of low end torque(i think is almost the same as before). and my transmission shakes stronger with unstable idle. what should I do now, should I go back again?

dudes, you do NOT want any dealership (even the one i work for car wash machine to touch your paint. they're all automated car washes that uses cloth/rotating brushes/high velocity jets. think about how many hundreds of cars they go thru a week...
Mikelikes2drive 06-11-2004, 12:39 AM rx8spiritR PCM flash is the engine flash.... and theyre flashing it because people complain of he lack of power and it is one of their solutions. 10-11 mpg? you sure u calculating it right? dont divide by 16 but the number of gallons you fill in. If you are calculating it right.... your driving your car wrong.
rx8spiritR 06-11-2004, 02:37 AM ok, in one full tank, i can only run 160 miles. you think that's normal? and it's mostly city drive.
itsallaboutgary 06-11-2004, 02:50 AM woww...thats not good...i usually get 220 if i drive full city driving.
