If you read http://carbuyingtips.com/ , you'll see a lot of horror stories about how the dealers try to jerk you around. But is that still the case these days? For those of you got the car recently at or near invoice, how hard was it to get the dealer down to that price?

Ideally, it would be a matter of me finding the car and telling the dealer that I know that the going price of the car is near invoice and I'm not going to pay anything near the MSRP. But I have never bought a car from a dealer in the traditional manner before (my two previous cars were both bought using buying services).

i've been to three dealers so far in search of my own 8. one dealer which was located in the suburbs was the worst. im korean as you've already noticed from my sn, and this asshole gave me $900 off invoice that was over $34,000! i was like are you fucking serious? he and i basically got into altercation so i said fuck you and left. then, i visited dealers where minorities live and i definitely received better deal. one dealer gave me $2000 and the third dealer gave me whopping $3000 off! so, do definitely shop around especially in the metropolitan area, thats my advice to you. holla1

Totally depends on the dealer. I went to 6 dealers when pricing my 8, and got 6 totally different prices on the S-plan, even though the pricing is published and supposedly standardized. My tip: go in with what you expect to pay, and don't budge. You'll find a deaer that's willing to do business.
