ive got a set of electric exhaust cutouts on my old firebird, i was thinking about putting one on the rx-8 but i had a question.

if i place the cutout before the catyltic converter will it make my check engine light come on or anything like that?

stupidly loud, you don't want to try and install it before the cat (as it's right on the end of the header). if you wanna know what a straight-pipe rotary sounds like, there are plenty of movies on the intarweb.

if you want a muffler by-pass, well that's up to you, but i would strongly advise against having it before the cat. oh, and no you're probably not gonna make much more power with it on its own.
