Ok .. I'm 186 cm tall. I was at the Geneva Auto Salon in Switzerland, sat into an rx-8 with sunroof ... and hit the roof. My hair was nicely bent and brushing along it, on my left I had the roofs corner downwards on my head. Hmmmm. Can one put in different seats or anything, to gain 2 inches or something? As is, it was impossible to buy the car. Legspace was pretty cramped at my size, too.

To evaluate some more sportscars, I also sat into an S2000 (head fits, legs even more cramped), a 350z (seems to work ... but this car has no compartments to stuff anything inside ... wtf). Didn't check with Prosches etc.

Is it normal? 186 cm can forget sportscars more or less? Would be sad. Btw, my size was *just* too big .. like 1 or 2 inches too much, so people saying, they're 6' tall and fit doesn't help me. They're just the last, that fitted :) Help .. I don't want to end up in a Golf of sorts :/

Try the 8 without the sunroof and lower the seat as low as it will go. I think you should fit then.

6'3" and fit great without the sunroof. It really cuts the headroom for us tall guys.

try it again and make sure to adjust the seat all the way down. also try leaning the back down more.

I'm 6'4 and I fit...yeah. it can be tight but I have a sunroof.

What I do is lean the seat back, angle the front of the bottom up and then move the seat foreward so the angle of seating is in a more reclining position. I found that this helped reduce the cramped leg thing.

I find that at 5'5" if I raise the seat all the way, I can just see over the steering wheel :)

My friend is 7'5" and he sits with his head through his sunroof.

I found that when I tried the RX 8 at the car show, I didn't fir so well. I'm 6'1", So I got the car without the sunroof, but having sat in another that had the sunroof, I fit fine in that, and I think what happened to me is that the show car wouldn't adjust all the way down so it felt really cramped.

Go to the dealer, and really try the seat adjustments, and I think that you'll find that it's fine. I have given my car to a friend who is over 6'4", and he had no problems with the height of the car. He actually commented how roomy it was for him and he drives a Mercedes G Wagen.

Try it again when you can really adjust the seat! That's my advice.

Wow Jonnyb, you must have a long body and short legs.

Jonnyb is right. I am 5'7 and I hit my head if I am not careful even with the power seat all the way own. With shorter legs the seat goes forward. The further forward the seat, the less head room. The slope at the front of the cabin is pretty fierce.

Wow, I'm finally glad I'm short! 5' 2-1/2"
Although I still have to situate my seat almost everyday because the heels on my shoes vary from day to day. I have a M/T so my seat has to be just right for me to be comfortable. Otherwise, I jerk like a beginner.

I'm 6'1" and had no problem with the sunroof. It all depends on your proportions. My father, who is 6'2" will probably have a problem since his torso is longer.

Hmmm. I remember having the seat all the way down. Are there differences in the seats? Maybe an electrical one or a manual one, being lower .. or all the same? I tried reclining, but wondered, if I don't get so slanted, I'd drive with a dead neck after a while from beding it. But yes .. I'll have to check again at a dealer I guess. Thanks for the answers :)

yep, skipping the sun roof would help for everyday driving, not to mention if you ever do any track or auto/x event that requires use a helmet. If you think you don't fit now, try it with a helmet on!

My next car will NOT have a sun roof !!!

Note that the manual height adjuster works like a pump - you need to work it down and up several times to get the full range of adjustment.
