TX My Rx8 is White Smoking...

So the other night, I was driving down a road when my engine starts knocking and sounds like a weedeater. The engine shook so much the whole car rattled. The car was lurching forward and would keep dying.. I finally made it to my mechanic's shop, but it was pretty difficult to get my car there. It would die every time I would come to a stop and would not start back up until I had tried several times. And it would lug its' self slowly into gear and would die again.
We put some Chemtool fuel treatment into the tank in case it was bad gas, tried to run the gas out, but that wasn't the problem.
Ran the codes and I had a misfire. So we replaced all 4 spark plugs.
After test driving it, my mechanic says my clutch is slipping really badly, and my car has excessive amounts of white smoke... It still dies when it comes to a stop and may/may not start back up.
No one in the town I live in is very knowledgeable about rotaries..

What would you guys say about this problem? I have 59,000 miles on my car, a brand new transmission, and a little bit left on my extended engine core warranty.
PLEASE HELP!!!

If you have a hope at getting a new motor under the core warranty ( ie have maintenence records ) You need to get to a dealer and get a compression test done

Anyone have any suggestions?
Do you think the dealer will actually warranty my engine? Should I go ahead and replace my clutch and just wait for the engine to completely **** out? Or should I get the clutch bolted on to the engine when/if I get the engine replaced?

When I took my car in with a problem with my transmission, the mechanics at the dealership came to talk to me and said they didn't want to have to pull all of it apart because it was too much work with my car, so I got a brand new transmission.. Do you think they are likely to do the same for my engine core????
