forwarded you the email
Alright.. how much do you want to send me one from the first batch eh? hehehehehehehehe ... j/k :D :D :D
On a serious note... that's great.. looking forward to it.
epitrochoid 05-18-2004, 12:25 AM ill give you mine....for a price :P
no seriously...I still dont have M flash, and Im weary to install it on K...I'll have to talk to Maurice and see if I'll run into any problems
nebusm 05-18-2004, 09:59 AM according to this Mazda service bulletin (4/12/2004)...
http://www.finishlineperformance.com/rx8/docs/01-011-04-1273d.pdf
.. "M" flash will now be done to any car coming in for any reason (including routine maintenance).
epitrochoid 05-18-2004, 10:15 AM yea, i know and i printed that out and handed it to the service manager. he said "if youre not having any of these problems we cant do anything."
to which i responded "it doesnt cost you anything and it takes 5 minutes. and it will reduce the chance ill be in here getting the engine unflooded"
he said "well, unless its a recall we cant do anything about it, but ill ask my service manager"
obviously he didnt, but somehow it still took me an hour to get my oil changed.
God of Thunder 05-18-2004, 10:43 AM Ditto, Ditto, Ditto
"If it were an issue for all cars they wouldn't have put it in this bulletin"
WTF? So I asked why would I not want the latest level.
"This is for cars that have trouble starting or to prevent flooding"
So I asked why I wouldn't want something to help my car not flood.
I'm on the phone to Mazda North America today!
nebusm 05-18-2004, 11:49 AM Wow, I'm sorry to hear you guys are having so much trouble getting the upgrade..
Are you sure they saw the "revised" version of that bulletin??
I can't believe they'd still tell you that even when it says verbatim:
"It is important the PCM to at least "M" calibration if the vehicle's PCM currently contains an earlier version. The "M" calibration contains software logic to prevent possible no start concerns. Because of this revision, all vehicles with previous calibrations should be updated to at least the "M" calibration level. This includes vehicles coming to the dealer for repairs unrelated to the no start concern, or normal scheduled maintenance."
..hopefully Mazda North America can help you straiten out your dealer..
epitrochoid 05-18-2004, 03:52 PM give em a call anyways, but I emailed them before the latest TSB release and they gave me the standard run around. id really like to know why theyre being so anal about this
God of Thunder 05-18-2004, 04:11 PM According to the conversation I just had with Mazda corporate the dealerships are to be flashing ALL 8s to "M" regardless of the reason for the visit. They said that the dealerships should call the technicall assistance hotline for verification if needed.
Also, they indicated that they are indeed chasing the mpg problem with potential calibration changes to come. They could not give a time frame but said to keep checking directly or by viewing the TSBs. They did admit that they are seeing large fluctuations in mpg performance but are unsure as to why.
epitrochoid 05-18-2004, 06:59 PM yeah, unfortunately i seem to be on the bottom end of the MPG sine wave...
JERCS 05-18-2004, 08:59 PM after the M flash and keeping most of my revs below 3750 i've been getting about 20 around town. Where before I was getting less then 12.
My dealership was dope, and just took it in. Told me it actually takes 30 mins to upgrade the ecu... that may have been BS. ;
This thread has been hijacked.
JERCS 05-19-2004, 04:48 PM Sorry :( Here you go :hands back thread:
Rosco 05-20-2004, 04:43 PM If anyone is tired of waiting, PM me and I'll take your spot... though I realize you'll probably want to wait and see if the most recently promised shipments come through. Who's holding their breath?
Even if I don't get one, it's pretty cool all the hastle Brian has gone through for this. You da man. (Where's the brown-nose smiley? #1 on next GB?)

Reminds me of a video that I saw once... Colorado girls holding thier breath in a hot tub... you get the picture.. and could have something to do with CU's football program as of late!
Rosco took my place, only cause I need the money right now, but still hope to get a stage 1 later in the year.
I'll still check in on the GB from time to time tho, as you guys have been great to talk to.
Thanks,
Hskr8
wolfbeast 05-25-2004, 06:18 PM i would like to be in this group buy if it is still open
JERCS 05-25-2004, 06:46 PM this Group Buy is closed, you may be able to buy someones spot though.
what's the status? did the rest of the units get shipped?
JERCS 06-09-2004, 06:51 PM Bumpty bump
okay.. two weeks has come and gone... what's up?!?
JERCS 06-14-2004, 03:33 AM :(
slavearm 06-15-2004, 11:21 PM New slogan should perhaps be... Canzoomer... we take a long time... then if we say a time... its going to be a long time after that.

JERCS 06-15-2004, 11:56 PM wtf is going on with this shit man
bobclevenger 06-16-2004, 12:01 AM I want patience ... and I want it NOW!
Hey, it's not like the guy has a whole factory churning these things out.
Rosco 06-16-2004, 12:35 AM I'm all for patience in general, but we are paying customers. It would be different if we had been given a July or August ship date up-front. A realistic date or "you're 143 on the waiting list" is all I ask.
Oh... and if you haven't seen it, you may want to check this thread (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27831&perpage=15&highlight=canscan&pagenumber=9) in Canzoomer's Place. David tries to explain the delays there.

HEY NOW...... we Utah people (Me at least) drink, we just have to drink more to get to the same drunk state as you. Well I drink hard stuff so it works for me either way :D
Anyways back on topic, I'm expecting mine any day now....... not that my expectations ever play out, but still I am allowed to have my empty hopes ;)
JERCS 06-16-2004, 11:21 PM I drink... yes, lots of milk!
Jump120MPH 06-17-2004, 02:03 PM Whats the latest news??
epitrochoid 06-17-2004, 06:38 PM 75% finished. I was told to expect it to be 100% in about a week..I'm going to email you all tonight.
And there may be a solution to the idle problem...but I'll save the details.
Jump120MPH 06-18-2004, 09:13 AM I never received an email?

That was my post above. (Autologin at work logged me as Tat2dRacer). Anyway is our batch getting the latest Maps and the Caps installed.
JERCS 06-29-2004, 11:53 AM Hskr8 bought my spot on the group buy. thanks guys.
2001F4S 07-01-2004, 09:32 AM Brian,
What is the latest?
crazy4h20 07-07-2004, 11:57 AM Per his earlier post/email, he's on vacation
Jump120MPH 07-07-2004, 12:03 PM Here is what he told me in another thread.
ME: Did the batch for the 2nd group buy get finished??
Epitrochoid: "not completely, I've been outta town for the last week, but I'll get the scoop tomorrow.
As of two weeks ago, 15 or so were getting shipped here right about now. I figured it's better to have them in my hands than in Maurice's warehouse because of what happened last time. But until I get the remainder, I cannot ship any out."
That was Sunday and I havent heard anything else.
doccable 07-07-2004, 01:46 PM I went back through my emails, and the last thing Epitrochoid mentioned (18Jun04), was that he was hopeful to be able to send them out this week, (specifically the 5th or the 6th). Having purchased stuff from Maurice before, I know it can and often does require a hefty dose of patience. I'm not quite ready yet to start complaining... but I'm getting there.
I guess all I'd really like to see is an update. On a personal note; I just wanna say "thanks" to Brian for putting this thing together, I know how difficult it can be.
i want one.. but cant i get it sooner if i just buy it from them my self ?
I dont mind paying the extra 10 bucks.. and would rather it be shipped to me here first.. seems kinda lame for it to go from Canada .. through the port in L.A. to Fla .. then back to me here in Ca :(
anyway i am game .. but i need to understand what i will be getting diffrently than just buying it myself..
Are they going to build the GB units faster than single orders ?
thanks for you hard work so far..

i am having the same trbl with IPT.. its been 2 months now and no engin cover. IPT does not respond to emails or pm.. and they did charge my Credit card 2 months ago..
I am about to call the D.A. :( kinda sucks when vendors promise you somthing then they take there sweet ass time to get it to you and act like your a dick for asking about it ..:9
Jump120MPH 07-07-2004, 02:16 PM I paid back on march 25 its almost going on 4 months now. I knew there would be a little bit of a wait, but DANG! Im starting to get alittle impatient, but will just sit tight and not complain to much.
epitrochoid 07-07-2004, 04:30 PM Yeah, I know it sucks guys..Im doin the best I can, but we all know how it goes with Maurice
Rosco 07-07-2004, 09:51 PM Just throwing this out, but I'll volunteer to wait and let the rest of the group get their unit shipped from Brian from the batch he already has. I guess another 14 people need to do the same for it to work though. Wha'd'ya say, guys?
epitrochoid 07-07-2004, 11:50 PM Sorry I haven't gotten any emails out to you guys, my computer with all that data is down at the moment. It's backed up, but I can't install Access on this Win98 POS im using temporarily, so I gotta go to work to do it.
I called Maurice today and again was told he'd call me back but never did. 2 weeks ago approx. 15 units were going to be shipped to me right about now, obviously that hasn't happened or he'd be happy to tell me about it. So it's up in the air at the moment...
But I'll keep trying!
davefzr 07-07-2004, 11:56 PM what a joke that guy is... I hope that another company comes out with something similar so we dont have to deal with him if we choose... seems like he has us where he wants and knows nobody else supplies something similar...
Hskr8 07-08-2004, 09:45 AM FYI, sounds like Canzoomer is going on vacation to Europe this month and RX-8friend also is in the middle of a couple of week's vacation.
I'm not sure of dates or exact timeframes, but this thread (with the word vacation highlighted in red) is what I am basing this information from.
http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31438&perpage=15&highlight=vacation&pagenumber=2
Also, RX-8 friend makes another reference to being out of town on page 3.

I believe Lawrence was the Point of Contact while RX- 8 friend was out of town. Try the thread below for details:

soo who has needed there box serviced? and how long did that take?
i ask because it might be a problemb later on if they take this long on the service end. ?
anyone have info on this ?
Rosco 07-08-2004, 12:30 PM FWIW, Maurice told me today that he doesn't expect to be caught up on Stage 1 orders for another 3-4 weeks since there's only one person doing assembly while Dave's gone. I don't know what that means for us, if anything... grain of salt and all.
On a brighter note, the new CanScans should ship next week directly from Dan Harrison (in TX, so no customs issues for most of us.) I have a bit more confidence in this projection, personally.

See http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=31438&perpage=15&pagenumber=3 where RX-8 friend addresses that issue (3rd or 4th post down). I don't have personal experience with this though.

I am going to be seriously upset if its another 3-4 weeks.

got my can sacn for the palm today its cool
Jump120MPH 07-10-2004, 07:46 AM I bet if he didnt already have our money they would have been done a long time ago. There is no way it should take 3-4-5 months to recieve a product after payment. I know he is busy, but he should have them built before he takes orders and not build as he goes. I think he should not take any more orders and get finish the orders he has. I also know that he is working on the piggyback for Sunflower's SC. I stopped by Sunflower yesterday and talked to Larry Smith about it. If the final dyno numbers turn out as good as Larry predicts then Im going to get it and I wont even need this Stage 1.1. The kit that Larry is going to offer will include a piggyback from Maurice.
epitrochoid 07-10-2004, 02:37 PM love the user title lol
3 - 4 weeks ?!?!

If so, and you've already bought a CZ unit, then all you'll need is the supercharger map for it. Just FYI.

I was up there at Sunflower on Friday and talked to Larry Smith. He told me that I would have to get rid of mine cause it was going to be different. They arent using the one they had. Larry sent Maurice a Procharger kit to use on his car to develop a piggyback. If it is going to be the same thats a plus. Larry said that the SC kit was going to come with a piggyback and an exhaust.
Omicron 07-10-2004, 10:33 PM But what about those of us who don't want the exhaust? Hmmm, looks like I need to call Larry on Monday.

Does anyone have an update on how the 1.1 is working at high altitudes?
Hskr8 07-12-2004, 01:10 PM Omi would know... but I think he has developed his own custom map

Rosco 07-15-2004, 04:32 PM I called Michelle today about a separate order I have and asked about the GB while I had her on the phone. She said 1-2 weeks out still. I'm supposed to get a call from Maurice this afternoon, so if that happens, I'll hit him for an update too.
I don't mean to step on your toes, Brian, but I figure the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Hope you don't mind.
Xyntax 07-21-2004, 03:38 PM anything yet?
Jump120MPH 07-23-2004, 01:17 PM Update????
davefzr 07-23-2004, 01:30 PM I feel sorry for you guys.. this sucks..
Hskr8 07-24-2004, 03:33 PM Hey Brian, how about a run down of what you have and what you are waiting on etc.
If it's ok with the group, I would suggest sending out the units that you have to those on the list. I'll put myself at the bottom of the list since I made the suggestion.
Jump120MPH 07-28-2004, 09:18 PM Well I know for sure that I will never buy anything from Canzoomer again.
Hskr8 07-28-2004, 09:53 PM Ok, this is bullshit...
If this group buy is not completed by August 31st. And I mean completed and received by all. I'm initiataing a refund per Canzoomers policy, and they should be able to refund money of product that hasn't been received, especially if they will refund product after it's been received for a week.
I understand the summer vacations, I also undestand the delays with the new map development efforts over the past 6 months, so I think I'm setting a forgiving and realistic deadline.
I too just want to voice my frustration, as I was in this group buy originally, and was out of it for 4-6 weeks, and got back in again as the opportunity presented itself recently.
There is NO reason why 25 or so units can't be produced in a timely fashion, and everyone has been pretty gracious up to this point.
I kid you not, this is going to get seriously ugly if things don't start happening real quick like.
doccable 07-28-2004, 10:13 PM Canzoomer should change his slogan from "We want more" to "Maybe six months..."
I have to agree with Hskr8. If this thing isn't completed by the end of August - a deadline that is entirely too kind for many of those who ordered over six months ago - I hope Maurice has invested heavily in a good flame suit - for starters. Because there is always this forum (http://www.rx8club.com/forumdisplay.php?f=74) that is waiting in lurk mode.
C'mon Maurice, enough is enough.
Omicron 07-28-2004, 10:38 PM You guys should call and/or email him. I don't believe he's on the forums very much these days, so your ultimatums won't do much good if he doesn't know about them.
But I totally sympathise.
drphill 07-28-2004, 11:25 PM Ditto everyone's obvious frustrations. I was on the first group buy list but somehow got out of the email loop and ended up NOT getting in on the actual buy. So then I got on the current list. What a mistake that's turned out to be. Would saying that I feel "robbed" at this point be too strong a characterization?
JERCS 07-28-2004, 11:36 PM if not by august everyone should go start a negative CZ thread.. i sold my spot but i'm pissed for you guys!!!
pitrider 07-29-2004, 04:45 PM Sent pm and e-mail to canzoomer, not happy this group buy is bullshit..
crazy4h20 07-29-2004, 06:41 PM How about a group vote on if we keep the buy alive or request a refund. To Hskr8's point, if he will honor a refund, then a cancellation should also be honored.
Hskr8 07-29-2004, 08:06 PM I will be calling thier Canadian offices tomorrow, and I will try to get a fix on things and where things stand. I'll be politically correct, however I am pissed off, and I'm also going to be firm on getting this group buy accomplished ASAP, and my 8/31 deadline stands.
I'll post my read of things tomorrow after I get off the phone with them.
Brian, this is in no way an attitude toward you, as I think you're just as frustrated as the rest of us, but dammit dude, you gotta push this issue as well. Ignoring it only puts it off and makes things worse.
Jump120MPH 07-29-2004, 09:06 PM I think we should have them by 8/8. Id like my money back too. If not im going to sell my mine to someone else. I would just rather not have the thing.
epitrochoid 07-29-2004, 09:41 PM im not ignoring anything. there's just nothing to say.
about 3 or 4 times a week, I call. Sometimes I get ahold of him, and he gives me an optimistic ship date, which has but once not held true. The other 90% of the time, I'm told he will call me back. I work 6 days a week 9-7, so I have to call when I can get some free time at work. mind you of course, this was never supposed to have gone on this long.
trust me that I will let you know once I hear some news that I myself actually believe. it took half the memebrs of the first GB breathing down his neck for something to get done about it, so i suggest we do the same.
davefzr 07-29-2004, 09:51 PM you shouldnt have to breathe down his neck.. I say pull out and let him eat the money. this is nuts
Hskr8 07-30-2004, 04:57 PM Hey Brian, no sweat... and I'm sorry this has been such a headache for you as well...
Just got off the phone with Maurice, (actually got cut off due to net 2 phone), but he had allot of things to say about development work on issues relating to burnt coils.... sounds like he didn't go on his vacatation due to too much stuff going on, and he thought that everything should be shipping by next Wednesday.
He was real nice to talk to, and the only thing I can tell is he pretty much seemed to know why I was calling etc. Just sounded like he was really working hard on the burnt coil issue that a few guys have had. He said that everything on backorder should be shipping next Wed, and that included our GB.
I wish I had more to tell you all, but I don't, and let's hope this date is a realistic one.
PS. I got the feeling he reads these threads when he can, even if he doesn't post often.
epitrochoid 07-30-2004, 05:41 PM ^^^ Maurice told me everything he just said
They have 27 in the boxes and packed up, the remainder due end of the weekend. So, lets hope for next week. At least we wont have to go through the hassel of sending these back to get all these update.
Hskr8 07-30-2004, 06:19 PM Thanks Brian, appreciate you following up and not taking offense to the harsher language I used earlier in the thread.
crazy4h20 08-01-2004, 12:56 AM Any word on if the units will have the "coil safe" fixes that were recently posted to CZ's forum?
On a side note, CZ is doing the smart thing in making sure our units are solid. With the size of this group buy, negative results would be deadly to future sales as well as the liklihood our units will be supported for some time to come.
epitrochoid 08-02-2004, 08:00 PM yeah, they do...
did everyone get the email I sent last week?
doccable 08-02-2004, 08:59 PM yeah, they do...
did everyone get the email I sent last week?
Yes, I did. Allow me to echo Hskr8's sentiment about harsh words and such. I think many of us would have been a little less touchy about the delay had we known sooner that Maurice was working on a fix for the coil problem, and didn't want to send out the units for the GB without that fix. Having dealt with Maurice before, I know to expect delays.
Thanks for all the work and putting up with all the complaining!

Yeah, my bad... I've just had a problematic weekend as well... it has to get better, it can't go downhill anymore, but I was wrong to make such a big stink. Hopefully the ball is moving again, and we can all close this chapter and get on with our lives.
epitrochoid 08-03-2004, 12:38 AM im just glad to hear he isn't leaving town, at least that wont push it back another 3 weeks
slavearm 08-05-2004, 12:22 PM H0ly Sh|t! I just got off the phone with CZ and supposedly the last boxes are shipping today!!! Well, I will believe it when I see it, but this is hopefully all coming to an end soon.

slavearm 08-05-2004, 12:33 PM Oh and if any of you haven't read it yet, you should pick up a copy of RXTuner magazine... they have an article about the CZ unit. This might be a good time to order a tuning cable.

Holy crap!!! It's seem like ages since I placed the order in this group buy. They really have to do something about their production schedule or the lack there of.
epitrochoid 08-05-2004, 05:47 PM i'll let you all know if i hear anything concrete. ive been told 'today is the day' before.
Magic8 08-07-2004, 08:23 PM Update?? Is it for real this time?
epitrochoid 08-08-2004, 02:04 PM apparently not. i havent got an email from michelle that it's been shipped. I'm going to have to call him tomorrow and change the shipping address again. im moving back to school in a week.
lets hope this doesnt cause a fiasco again. then again, maybe it will be on my doorstep tomorrow.
Jump120MPH 08-08-2004, 08:14 PM I just hope that this unit is worth it after alllllllllllllllllll this waiting.
tokenbrit 08-10-2004, 07:10 AM I just hope that this unit is worth it after alllllllllllllllllll this waiting.
I get the feeling that it's all part of the "shopping with Canzoomer experience" :D .
I've been waiting approx. 2 months for a C.Z. Mid-P-4. :( I hope it's with me soon...

(putting on my best MN accent): O...ya...you betcha. Waiting for anything from CZ can be a bit trying. I ordered stuff from him in November last year, and it didn't arrive until February. But even I'm a little surprised at how long this is taking. But if he's working out existing bugs... I guess I can't complain too much, well, more than I already have

Hskr8 08-10-2004, 07:50 PM August is 1/3 over... Maurice is wonderful to talk to and a good guy, but we need to keep the pressure on him to get this completed by the end of the month.
slavearm 08-12-2004, 02:16 AM Well whats funny is I ordered some stuff from CZ on the same day they told me our units were shipping, and they just arrived today. So I guess that you don't have to wait forever for everything from CZ.

Jump120MPH 08-13-2004, 09:34 AM ???? whats the word .
epitrochoid 08-13-2004, 01:45 PM i heard they're on their way from another GB member that spoke to Maurice. I'd call him to get the truth (or his version of it ;) ) but I can't dial out because of this damn hurricane.
panda 08-14-2004, 04:46 AM is there going to be another group buy sometime soon?

no

Jump120MPH 08-16-2004, 07:59 PM anything?
Hskr8 08-16-2004, 10:49 PM guys, on the plus side we will be getting the latest and greatest unit, which I think will be allot less of a hassle for us as we won't have to send them in for upgrades and such.
This still needs to move forward though, and I guess I'll have to put more money in the net 2 phone account and call Maurice this week.
We all expected the delay, but didn't expect it to be this long either... I'm not driving my 8 this winter, and bought a used truck for that, but we have to get these units and order fulfilled pretty quick like, or I'm afraid there will be hell to pay from pissed off members.
August is half over and come Sept 1, people are going to start bugging out big time.
Jump120MPH 08-18-2004, 04:40 PM I am glad that he has worked out those issues for our units, but I would like to be kept informed as to what is going on. He owes that to his customers. He needs to be posting on here letting us know what's up. Thats all I ask, but he cant even do that.
epitrochoid 08-19-2004, 02:24 PM Hey everyone,
I called Maurice on Tuesday this week and told him to go ahead and send the units out (he said they were ready). He said they were due to ship Wednesday. It's quite a mess around here from the hurricane, I still dont have internet access at my house, most of my friends have no power, and I'm on a new computer and I can't get the software I need on it (yeah, I buy it online lol). So, that's why I havent emailed this info to you all. When I get a tracking number, I'll let you guys know for sure when I'll be able to send them out.
Jump120MPH 08-19-2004, 02:31 PM Glad to hear you made it. Sounds good man thanks for the update. FINALLY!!!!!!! So we looking at maybe end of next week?
slavearm 08-19-2004, 06:01 PM Thats fantastic, although I wont start holding my breath until Brian gets the tracking number. But I do have my CanScan and Programming software ready to go. I also got a few days worth of vacation waiting for some special time with the 8 (tuning of course sheesh)

This may be a dumb question, but weren't most of the units shipped to Brian before the fixes and upgrades? As far as I can tell, the coilpack problem wasn't fixed until about three weeks ago. If so, how do we know which version we got and if we need to send it back? At least seven lucky people will have the latest and greatest. Do you take bribes, Brian? ;)
epitrochoid 08-25-2004, 03:00 PM The batch I got today (the only batch thus far) is the latest version, with the coilpack issue fixed.

davefzr 08-25-2004, 06:35 PM Canzoomer can only make them so fast.. what were you expecting more than 1 batch every 6 months? :) come on.....
epitrochoid 08-25-2004, 08:01 PM negative, I was excepting all 34 units, but only received 25.
and the saga continues!
davefzr 08-25-2004, 08:09 PM oh crap.. no way!! I thought he just misunderstood you...
This is almost laughable at this point.. Hope all turns out for you guys.
Rosco 08-25-2004, 08:23 PM From some earlier posts, I was under the impression that most of the units had been shipped ealier. Oh well, maybe those of us at the bottom of the list will end up with the super-ultra-delux version that turns the car into a sleath fighting machine capable of hunting down Osama, brining peace to Iraq and 0-60 in 3.9 secs... then again, maybe monkeys will fly out of my butt and give me a litte extra boost. Ouch.
All I want for Christmas is...
slavearm 08-25-2004, 08:25 PM CAnzoomer sucks and that's about all I going to say about that. Maurice may be a great guy but his business practice sucks.
So if things keep going this way I should get my unit by next damn summer. This is $%$%#$%#$$%@#$ crazy.
Slavearm
slavearm 08-25-2004, 08:50 PM I think we should have all said hey... screw canzoomer.... we should just buy the emanage and follow maniacs guide. Besides... on a lot of our cars, the CZ wont work without custom configs. And Omicron feel free to jump in here, because I have heard you say before that the CZ installed into tons of cars without having any issues and we only hear about the bad ones. I am waving the BS flag right here and right now. I doubt it has gone into that many cars at all. Why? Well it's simple... if an order for 34 units can't be completed in 6 months, how many units are you selling exactly? Ask petit how they feel about the CZ unit. Or why doesn't someone read the latest issue of RXTuner. I got my copy, and with Boostd7's permission, I would gladly scan the article and post it here. Hell at this point I would even post it on my website for everyone to see.
Oh yah... and Omicron, if there were so many CZ units that were sold and worked fine out of the box, you could imagine we could get a decent dyno from at least ONE of them showing a gain. Now you say that you are suspicious of dyno gains, but here is my very basic theory you should see a difference between the two. SInce you are dyno'ing with the dyno and everything being equal, you should be able to still gain some power with a CZ unit. But not one of these elusive sucessful default installs has had even a decent dyno. At this point, I think it would even be nice to see a side by side gtech run.
Perhaps I seem sour... indeed I am. I could have saved myself money and at this point time just buying an emanage and going to town.
One thing I will give CZ credit for, is for getting those wonderful wire harnesses made. Perhaps he should start selling those and let us buy the emanage ourselves.
Slavearm
davefzr 08-25-2004, 11:39 PM you can... (2 patch harnesses)

slavearm 08-26-2004, 12:52 AM Right you are... nice find.
Jump120MPH 08-27-2004, 11:49 AM This is not very encouraging. Polak is selling his Stage 1. He did the article in RX Tuner. http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?p=503120#post503120 If this unit doesnt make 20hp like he claimed when I purchased it, im sending mine back for a refund.
davefzr 08-27-2004, 12:31 PM You know.. looking back over the year that this has been going on, I really do think that 20hp was possible.. with the K Flash.. It seems that as the flashes have progressed to M, the likely hood of gaining 20hp has diminished...
Thats crazy though.. I saw that Polak was selling his too.. definitely not encouraging...
slavearm 08-27-2004, 12:31 PM Yah,
I really wanted to just buy his unit, and sell my spot on the GB, but I really doubt I could get anyone to buy my spot after all this crap has gone on.

Speed Racer 09-01-2004, 04:09 PM Well I just got my unit and installed it. It was very easy to install. I drove the car around for about 15 min, but I dont seem to notice any difference from the butt dyno. hmmm...
Mine normally takes 4 or 5 drives before you can tell a noticeable difference. So give it a couple of days before you make any judgments and remember that a 20 Hp gain is not going to feel like a turbo charger kicking in. ;)
Hskr8 09-01-2004, 04:18 PM low and behold, I literally just got mine dropped off... report to follow after giving the computer time to adjust... time to install!!!
Edit: do not lean your left arm on the fender when installing, I did and my fender started to buckle and luckily I got off it fast enough and no damage... just an fyi to the rest of you. For the rear ecu pop rivet thing, I unpluged the harness that wire goes into as getting underneath that rivet is too difficult. The front one is easier.
5:03pm : First drive (15 min or so), idle seems fine although slightly rougher, but only slightly. Car boggs down under 4K RPM... leaving the driveway, I thought I would stall the car. Above 5Krpm the car sometimes pulled very hard, and revved very fast, other times it felt slower. Checked the coils, (90 degree day here) everything looks good, but did smell some electrical component stuff, but only slightly. Top of ECU cover was not very warm, battery cover was very hot, air intake cover was inbetween, engine cover, also very hot.Going to try to get 4 more runs in this evening.
5:41pm : 2nd Drive, about same 15 min length, hard to really open up due to rush hour. Idling really rough upon startup, then resolved it'self within a sec or 2, but stilly that very slightly rough idle. Bogging symptom is better, not nearly as much as last time as it did it on just about every run the first time. Did it about 3 times this second run. The last straightaway to the house it revved increadibly fast to 9K, but I'm only able to do this in first gear and then shifting into second up to about 6 or 7 K before I have to shut it down. Smelled a slight electronic smell again, but fainter. Checked coils, still appear to be good. I should also add, half way through each run, I am disabling the traction control with the long hold down method, so it's gets the time on each run split between the two. Butt dyno doesn't show much, as it's not the torque that you really feel, but rather noticing that it gets to redline faster than it used to. Engine cover and battery cover are very hot, air intake lesser, but hot, ecu cover coolest of the three, but hot. More runs to come this evening.
6:18pm : 3rd drive, idle better on startup, but noticed later it still as slighly rough, and could feel it in the gearshift like before, 90% of the time, it felt fine and is livable if it doesn't continue to improve. bogging is almost nonexistant now. Thought it did, but only feels that way at about 2K rpm, and I think that time I was slightly lugging the engine. Interstate cruise for 15+ minutes. Revvs very fast, and car seems to be getting accustomed to the CZ. Dropped down into 3rd doing 60-70 and should have blipped the throttle before hand, screetch... and climbed rapidly. Won't be able to do any 4th gear+ runs this evening, as that requires a drive outside of town. Things don't necessarily "feel" a whole lot torqier, just notice it revs faster than it used to. There is a surge aroung 5K, and I think it is adapting. Didn't smell any electronics, and haven't checked the coils, as it seems to be getting along better now. I'll cook dinner and let it completely cool off, then go for an evening drive and continue to report. Oh, forgot to add, took an exit of the interstate ramp way hard, as the lane was open passing two cars and a cop in the opposing lane... he didn't come after me, just an fyi to be careful out there while you are testing.
8:14 pm : 4th drive... didn't get to crazy here, a 7-10 minute drive and I can only see a couple of little issues... the idle still sputters every couple of seconds... nothing too viloently, but every 2-3 seconds you hear a sputter. She wasn't cooled off at all yet, but I did check the coils before I took her out again, and they look fine. Still noticing a bit of a bog at low (2K rpm) levels... I thought I might have been lugging slightly before, but I don't think so. The first & second drive, the bogging was very prounounced, and while it decreased from first to second, and again from second to third, I have not experienced that since, I do notice a slightly deeper requirement for rpm's if you shift at 2K, there is a definate bogg or hesitation that was not there before, but it is at very low rpm's. I still think in order for someone to get the most out of this system, they will need to tune it to their own cars' nuances, but I "think" these issues, however slight are livable for now. I could change my mind, as I'm pretty picky, but things are running 100% better than the first test, and these two issues are little indications of something not tuned correctly at the lowest rpm range. Everything beyond that rang seems to have settled in. Tomorrow moring I'll post up the 5th drive when completely cold..
10:00 AM : Same as 4th drive... not tuned correctly for the lower rpm's, above that is fine and better. Still sputters some
PS. I did have to reset my radio and clock... but that could have been me taking too long to do the installation and them losing thier values. Resetting those items are much easier than goofing something up on the installation. Also, I notice the second and third gear screech is much more pronounced than before. I don't beat on my car mind you, but just testing this all out, and those chirps are stronger.
Hope this is helping.
Hskr8

Jump120MPH 09-01-2004, 07:45 PM I wanted to thank Brian for putting up with all of us and all that has happend the past 5 months. I know that you had no control over anything and I hold no hard feelings toward you. Thanks again for getting the group buy together.
Hskr8 09-01-2004, 07:50 PM More of an FYI to myself, but thought this would be useful... get a big frezzer style locking bag to collect your screws, bolts, and gold adapters... through in the semi-circle harness loom if you didn't put it back in... I'm not going to lose any of these parts!
For the challenged, don't freeze them, just use this as a way to keep your parts together...
lol
Hskr8 09-01-2004, 07:55 PM I agree, Brian handled this very preofessionally.... he put up with our bitching, never took offense, and always followed through... Brian, you did a great job, and I'd participate in another group buy with you heading it up without hesitation!!!
I realize there are still a few others who won't get their units for a couple of weeks due to the harness shortage you mentioned, but from a management standpoint, you have done extremely well in my book.
Many Many Many Thank Yous!!!
Edit: fast shipping too...

Hskr8 09-02-2004, 12:40 PM I'm curious what the others are experiencing with the unit, please report if you have a few minutes. TY
Jump120MPH 09-02-2004, 04:28 PM Well after a bit more driving I notice that the car idles very rough, my g/f even noticed it. The car seems like it has alittle more power after 5k. Im going to get with one of the local 8 guys around here and run our cars to see if there is any difference. Im about to fill up so I will see about gas mileage.
Magic8 09-02-2004, 07:31 PM check out my verdict in Canzoomer's Place forum. I notice the rough idle also. I wonder if I can tune that out. Of course I though CZ didn't change anything below 4 rpm....
Rotary787 09-03-2004, 07:32 AM Got CZ unit today. I will not be able to install for a week since my car is going in the shop for a broken visor.
