I ditched my OE header and Exotic Speed midpipe for Racing Beat Header and Mid Pipe...best decision ever.

First off, this install was a total PIA...but was more then worth the aggravation...on to pics and video.

RB header is pretty. Sounds great w/single output exhaust. Is it louder or no running one exhaust output?

Ty! Single is always louder than dual.

No sir, one bolt is busted on the header...but there is no leak...go figure lol

Nice.

It is freaking awesome, you can really hear the engine @ high rpms.

I will be throwing MASSIVE flames, no doubt.

If you think that was loud...you didn't hear my old setup with the Exotic Speed mid pipe. My 8 sounded like a street bike.

The one part in the vid, you can really hear you before you come around the corner, and then wham there you are! hauling ass around the corner.

It sounds really tame when not WOT. I think it was around 3:15 of the vid it sounded as though you were just cruising, or were you off the gas totally?

I was cruising. This setup is really solid. under 4k and regular driving, you hear the intake over the exhaust. after 5k you hear intake + exhaust. then around 6.5k its all engine through the exhaust.

Is there a noticeable power gain with the full exhaust over stock, or has it been to long since you were stock to judge?

nice video francesco

Thx Carlos!

Mid-range torque is much stronger now. There is a definite gain vs stock. Plus I now have practically every bolt-on NA part...so I'm sure that helps as well .

Also why did you choose single over duel??

Thx Omar!

What Kind of camera do you have?

Samsung HMX-H106. I chose single for the weigh savings. My whole exhaust setup is just under 60lbs. Racing Beat header + Midpipe is 40lbs and the HKS is under 20lbs.

LOL I could hear you haulin' ass long before you were in view of the camera lens so I'm guessing this setup is really loud! Also, how long was the actual drive time of the trip you posted in time lapse? And the 2 times you stopped and looked under the hood what were you looking for? Certainly you werent adding oil both times?

Well, remember most of that video was at WOT. My old setup was really really loud, but this is much better. It only gets loud as you wind past 6k. I am really really pleased with this setup.

For the time lapse...it was a 4 hour drive one way. I topped my oil x2 and x1 was to show off my GTSPEC bracing.

Way to capture the overall sound. Nice vid.

I tried to get as many vantage points as possible. Cruising, moderate acceleration, and WOT.

thats probably the best set up there is out there, so you don't have the air pump anymore??? any benefits from that?? just being curious.

And you helped! I'm sure it would sound pretty damn good with my old SP2. Yeap I took the airpump out because it was whining and I don't need it since I'm catless.

Thank you, Thank you.

I will say this much, with premixing...and this setup...I'm shooting a lot of flames. Like...A LOT of flames.

Make sure you have a full can of PB Blaster. Racing Beat ships AWESOME instructions with the header. It lists the exact tools you need and the torque specs.

I will gladly make an in car video...when my car is back on the road (http://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php?p=3626811&postcount=382).

I can tell you that inside the car under regular driving...its like just having a cat in regards to volume. When you get on it...you hear it a little bit more. This is the best setup ive had.

Here are my previous setups:
Header + Mid + catback

OE + OE Cat + Greddy SP2
OE + RP Super Cat + Greddy SP2
OE + ExoticSpeed + Greddy SP2
OE + ExoticSpeed + HKS Hi-Power
OE + Racing Beat Dual Resonated Mid Pipe + HKS High Power
Racing Beat Header + Racing Beat Dual Resonated Mid Pipe + HKS High Power

It certainly has been a long road and this setup is flipping sweet.

Sounds nice man, Im hoping to eventually get this header and BHR's midpipe... but I have to buy the Cobb AP first which ruins all my plans lol. Its going to be a hassle for Jeff (MM) to tune my car as im going to be buying BHR's ignition system next then Midpipe... sigh...

Thinking of getting the RB Header & I have a couple of questions - will it void the 8 yr. Mazda Engine Warranty and can this be installed on automatics?

Thanks to all the folks here for the invaluable information you have provided me over the years.

Its saved me lots of dollars and its truly appreciated!!

Sounds like my first RX7. The exhaust was garbage on it. Holes everywhere. So while driving, the exhaust would come up the shifter. If you weren't used to it, you're eyes would be watering in a mile. After some time, you got used to it and hated the smell of clean air!!! :shocking:

with the RB ported tune, vacuum leaks, and a header leak...186whp/135wtq. MM said with my bhr kit, he could squeeze a good amount out of whp, past 200's. I did my logs and hopefully will have a better tune shortly.

what im really anxious to see is how the street port will handle boost...when i get said $$.

What does your airflow log look like? What are your LTFT? With a vacuum leak, that is un-metered air, and they should be creeping higher. Thanks for sharing.

OK, thanks. I keep thinking I have a vacuum leak also. I hear the strangest sounds at WOT, but my LTFT is steady at 3 right now. Jeff said it will trend higher if you have a leak.

Yea I have a rattle from my header, i think the gasket is gone or the header is rubbing against something. Unfortunately my exhaust takes a beating from driving to school and philly roads blow.

definately, if i started all over again, this header would be one of my first upgrades. Along with the BHR ignition, AEM CAI, MM maps, and a oil catch can.

I have been thinking about parts in general as a complete system. I have the HKS Hi-power, BHR mid pipe now, BHR ignition, Cobb, etc. and after reading up on the header and intake I may go that route. Not much bang for the buck but what the heck.

L337fpc

just give yourself some extra time...because its a royal pain to install. I'd take my SSV out again instead of changing my header.

But it really is worth it, imo.

Well, you have to raise the engine up in steps to clear certain sections of the engine mount. I'd get a new can of PB Blaster and some food b/c you'll be there for awhile. The biggest bitch was getting the engine mount to sit right.

If you don't have any socket joints and extensions, you'll need them.

Using a block of wood and a jack on the pan? Would removing the mount all together make it easier? Would doing it on a lift make it easier?

Nemesis8

We removed both my engine mounts to install mine. Had a lift on the engine brackets also to hang the engine in air, then pushed the block over. Lots of room that way.

Ty, ty. As far as drone, it was significantly reduced thanks to the dual resonated midpipe...when compared to my old exoticspeed midpipe.

I feel that the RB header and RB dual resonated midpipe combo smooths everything out. The header increases midrange torque.
