I recieved my stage 1 on friday and installed on saturday. In regards to the installation it took about 45 minutes a real no brainer(just involves some screws and removing of some plastic covers).

Now for the review, after hooking the battery back up and resetiing the radio etc, i started her up.(one thing i noticed that the car no longer had that rich at idle smell, maybe my imagination). Pulled out of my driveway and let her rip Niiiiccceeee! once the car hits around 4800rpms she pulls and pulls hard all the way up to redline, the rpms just go buy so much faster now. Took a couple of more pulls same nice responce only hitting first and most of second gear. I then brought her on the highway WoW! When you hit third gear she seems to pull harder, another thing i noticed the wheels really brake loose(although it is cold out) it never did this before. this car picked up some good power, if i had to guess probably between 20-30hp rear wheels, this indeed the car we paid for, anyone thinking of ordering this dont hesitate it is a must have Look out 350 z's the rx8 is back and back with a vengance!

the stage 1 is a piggyback ecu wich leans out the fuel mixture that mazda richened up a lot to conserve the life of our cat coverter. By installing this mod you will recieve more power approx 20-30 rwhp

He's talking about Canzoomer's newly-developed Stage 1 ECU piggyback. See Canzoomer's forum under the Vendors forums for lots more information.

jeffscardinal,
CONGRATS !!! This is how this car was supposed to be in the first place. Have you felt ANY differece below 4800 rpm?

At idle it runs leaner, you can smell it(not as much fuel) under 4800 it seems to be the same, but those were never rich anyways, (they were pretty lean) trust me the car is an animal now.

After talking to some folks considering the upgrade, they have mentioned getting a low-flow exhaust to compliment the Stage 1. Are you thinking about doing this?

anyone got video so others who have not experienced the stage 1 kit yet can see/hear the difference. maybe be hard to see the difference but worth trying

I'm liking this Stage I kit more and more. Out of curiosity, how did it affect your gas mileage? Better, worse, same?

My commute mileage has been 1-2 mpg better (no long highway trips yet), but I've also switched to 89 octane in same period, destroying any chance for scientific conclusion. (Canzoomer suggests 89 but not 87.)

low-RESTRICTION

HIGH-FLOW

It helps the engine breathe and dissipate the extra heat better
