when you disconnect the battery?

View Full Version : Anything besides the radio need to be reset flatso 01-21-2004, 11:56 AM when you disconnect the battery? eccles 01-21-2004, 12:02 PM If you have anything above a Base model, you'll need to reset the DSC. Instructions are in the Owners Manual and also in the little "quick start" guide. brothervoodoo 01-21-2004, 12:03 PM You'll get a DCS light flashing console error. Turn the key to Accessory, turn the wheel all the way to the left, then all the way to the right and then center. Turn key to off position and then turn back on. EDIT: Oh yeah, read the manual like eccles suggests... :) flatso 01-21-2004, 12:44 PM isn't turning the wheel when the car is not moving hard on the front suspension? eccles 01-21-2004, 01:02 PM Sure, it puts a bit of static load on things, but it's not like you have to do this every day. (Unless you plan on disconnecting the battery overnight for some reason!) jdl 01-22-2004, 09:56 AM Turns out the DSC reset procedure also works with the engine running, too. My manual said to turn the key to 'On', turn wheel fully clockwise, then turn wheel fully counter-clockwise, then turn key to 'Off' (then verify the DSC lights stays off...) But I didn't have the front end up, so I just started the car instead of merely moving the key to 'On'...did the rest of the procedure and the DSC reset just like documented. That was four days ago. NOW...I had one extra little quirk: I have Lojack Early Warning. Apparently it didn't like the battery disconnect, so every day I drive to work this week I am greeted with email and phone messages that someone may be attempting to steal my car -- it thinks it's being stolen every time I drive it! I have a trouble ticket started with the Lojack folks, who promised to have an answer to my reset problem today. Well, we'll see...meanwhile, it's nice to know the thing works ;) Cheers, -jd. |
