about 15-16 degrees celcius, this time i used BP ultimate, 4960 kms on the clock!

14.30 @ 103.1 mph!

:D

Nice work, but...

The only admissible proof is a time slip.

The older G-Techs are not as accurate as the newer ones, and the trap speed is not measured the same as the strip.

I'm not saying that accelerometers are no good. Quite the contrary, I have a MR Dyno myself, and I reckon it is great.

But the only official record of a 1/4 mile run is a time slip from you friendly local drag strip.

Cheers,
Hymee.

BTW - where did you get up to 103.1 MPH? And what gear where you in when you "crossed the line"?

the g-tech pro has been quite a good system so far. The run felt like a 14.3, it was perfect!

honestly, i didnt catch the gear. I *think* i was at the start of 4th. too busy watching the cars i was catching.

Bet you didn't do that run in your driveway.

Can you give us the g-tech data, love to know the revs/gears/speeds?

How many practice runs have you done at it now and when are you going to brave the strip? :)

Kev.

i'll go the strip soon.

hehe i drove home to get the digital camera, needed proof!

no data on this g-tech, its only the pro not comp. that was my 4th run. I thrash the car daily doing about 100kms of suburban driving a day, i've gotten to know the car quite well.

Quote from ausrotary "the mph would indicate that it`s good for a low 13 maybe a high 12 ... so i `m thinking you are either the luckiest rx8 owner or maybe it`s not as acurate as you want it to be"

even my earlier runs have been 99, 100, 98 mph.

My car/engine is strong. with DSC off i can chirp the wheels into 3rd quite easily. I actually raced the engine over the 5000km marker and to tell you the truth, it does feel slightly more responsive between 2.4-5k rpm.

have you noticed any synco issues from 2nd to 3rd under redline from standing start?

I'm having a curious regular issue between 2nd and 3rd and I'm not sure it it's my heal toe work, timing handwise, or just a mechanical issue.

I don't get it during regular cruising, just when under top end load.

ps: hi crew, finally caught up with the back log of * stuff * I've had to deal with since returning to the office after what was essentially a month off.. have missed y'all but I suggest you soon try a whole month without a mobile phone, phone fax and internet / email - it's the most peaceful bliss I've experienced for what must be 15+ years!

no i havent. i have noticed a slight wobble (in the chassie/pedal) under real light clutch work and when the car is on and clutch in i let the clutch out and hear the bearings wind. damn i forgot the name of that bearing? thrust?

hmm..

must just be my lazy left foot or a timing issue between my brain and the syncro mesh perhaps..

it's not too often but shit it peeves me when it does happne as usually it's a manaro or a bmw moment..

Kas,

I really hope you can get a 14.3 on the strip, and I not bagging you at all. I noticed your temps where fairly cool. I could only ever manage an offical 15.0 on the strip, in the heat of the day. Then the other night I got a 14.86 @ 96MPH with the MR Dyno without even trying.

Just don't get your hopes up to much on that 1/4 mile result from the G-Tech, compared to the strip. Good luck all the same!

Cheers,
Hymee.

Here is my "fastest" 1/4 mile run according to my MR Dyno. Yes - you can even download all the data :p
