Thats correct. If you want that type of deal then use buying power. Anyone can do this.

The RX-8 is just $38k in Japan (base) & $56k here. So Mazda Australia are profiterring at our expense. Its not due to compliance of duties or any other type of crap either, otherwise the rest of the Mazda Australia range would have similar 60%+ price differences between Japan & Oz.

With plenty of room-to-move you should be able to squeeze a deal as demand is coming off the peak panic that it was at 6-months ago & supply is getting more steady.

Friends & I did it at a western Sydney dealership. With buying power, meaning multiple orders at the one time. You can get great deals this way.

The best prices we have gotten so far are.......................

Base....... $57500
Luxury.... $63500

Both are on-road prices, drive away

Over the next 6+ months, I expect the deals to get even better as demand slows down to a steady level.

Hi guys,

I am in the motor industry and look after a couple of yards. We dont sell Rx8 so i bought mine from my brother who is in Melbourne and does sell Mazda. I can tell you now that although dealers are still rluctant to discount this car, i paid considerably less than $63500 on road 6speed manual leather pack. They did look after me more than you could expect, because of my relationship with my brother and also because i am in the industry, and know what sort of margin they have in one. But im sure if you were seroius about the purchase of one i would be happy to give you the details of who and where. So PM me if you like and i can save you some money.

Regards
Dale

I've seen the buy price on them, on-road the dealer pays about 60k with leather. Assume they are going to want to make at LEAST 3k on a 60k car (which is fair).

The RRP on-road, with leather, delivery, luxary car tax, gst etc etc.

Is 66k - anything under that I think is a good deal. Because there is limited supply, probably even more so now that it has won wheels car of the year - I don't think dealers will be discounting much if at all.
