Hi folks,

For those of you who don't already know, Al will be be leaving Scar Mazda to persue other business oppertunities in the next week or so.

I'd would like to extend a very large thanks to Al for all the hard work, effort, and assistance that he has provided over the years to everyone - not only in this forum, but Mazda owners in general.

He has always tried to extend a helping hand to anyone in need and has even helped in bring our group here closer together by organizing track days, Mosport parade laps, and even managed to put Mazdaspeed North together single handedly.

I'm sure he'll still be floating around here and there every now and again.. and i'm also pretty sure we can still manage to drag his butt to the track.

Once again Al, thank you for dedication to all of us, and good luck with your future endevors.

So Long and Thanks for All the Fish.

anyways. Al, you have done so many great things for the local rx8club community. you will be missed greatly. Hopefully like chris says, we wont be able to keep you from the track and our great track days with great instructors can continue next season as successfully as they did this season. good luck Al.

Now that Im not an employee of Mazda or have an affiliation.........I can say things from the heart. Most of the RX8 and RX7 guys have been a blast to have around and have made things at Scarboro Mazda a lot of fun. Having the guys around while we worked on the cars, having meets, track days etc. Most of the RX8 and Rx7 guys are great..................except the odd numb nuts that doesnt have a clue....oh wait ......that must be you! For the record I tendered my resignation last Monday and have been asked to stay as long as I can. I will be starting my new position on December 1, and had planned to take the last week of November off and still hope to do so. I have spoken with each manager at Scarboro and have asked then to keep going with what we started, taking care of the enthusiast comunity. If you need anything, I am sure Steve or Russ can keep the tradition going. To RXDave 63 :cussing: have a great life! lol

This probably applies to most of what you have to say; considering this was your second post, it really gives us a peak at what we should expect from you.

Al:

I will never forget all the moments I spent with you (ok sounds pretty gay lol) but thanks for truly open my eyes in automotive sports.

I will never forget screaming like a bitch (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=155458) in my own stock car when you chase down that full mazdaspeed rx8 race car in Mosport.

I will never forget frezzing my ass off in the morning to go to Mosport for your many races and all the love and care to her - only to see the bitch die (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=157702)(I think I can call her a bitch now can I lol).

I will never forget crying in my heart when I see all those kids with terminal illness having so much fun at the race track with you and your fellow race car drivers giving them probably the last thrill of their lives (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=159034)...its such an irony that race car drivers actively seeking "death" while these kids just hanging on their lives yet so happy inside the cars running at the track.

I will never forget yelling at the top of my lung when I see you pass the finish line for that epic win in the British Empire Motor Club race on Sunday, May 10 2009 (http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?t=173685).

And there are many, many more moments that really open my mind. You are more than just a good GM to me. Throughout the short period of time you show your dedications to me as a friend as well as a fellow car lover.

And I will never forget your help when I was in the absolute bottom of my fucking life this year because of the financial storm.

Please help Scarboro Mazda getting a GM with 60% of your enthusiasm on cars, 40% of your enthusiasm on rotary...

Anyways, I won't bug you at your new job until you can offer me excellent price on tofu delivering car a few years later *wink *wink - I guess my prediction is right, you truly own a tofu shop doing racing stuff afterwork!

Godspeed.

Josh that is truly one of the nicest things I have ever read! Just remember I am not going away or disappearing, the opportunity that was offered to me I could not turn down. I still hope to be able to hang out with all of you, I still own and am a partner in another Mazda and hope to still be able to do track days etc with you! You have become a great friend Josh and I will always cherish that friendship! ( not to sound gay)

Hey Al,

We didn't get a chance to meet in person, though I have read on the forums about all the good you have done, and the help you have been to so many of my fellow owners.

I am sure you will be missed at the dealership.

All the best with whatever new path you have chosen to follow.

Though i have yet to have my car serviced at Scarboro Mazda, I was really looking forward to it because everyone around here convinced me that it's the most reliable and trustworthy place to go. You've built such a reputation for the dealership that I don't know where else I should or could take it when you're gone.
Thank you for all your time spent answering our questions here on the forums and good luck on your future endeavors.

I just want everyone to know how much I appreciate all your comments. I have been involved in car communities for the last 30 years, but non like the RX8 club. I will continue to visit the site and help where I can, my new endeavor isnt much different, just a different brand. My new position is the General Manager of Woodbine Toyota I start Dec 1. Woodbine is part of a 3 dealer group which combines Pickering Toyota, Woodbine Toyota and Erin Mills Mitsubishi. There is more expansion on the horizon and I couldnt turn down this fantastic opportunity. I will continue to help where I can, for advice, parts, tires etc! Like I said in a previous post, the staff at Scarboro Mazda has assured me they will look after you like I would!

ps: I havent left Scarboro yet, I should be there all week!

One thing my team is trying to find now is shop space. We need about 1500 sq ft where we can have our cars, my truck and trailer. If anyone knows of any shop space preferably in the GTA please let us know. If we can find a bigger shop we will consider renting space for indoor winter storage of cars...........

Someone would have to pay me a lot of money to go through that again, it ultimately was one of the reasons for me leaving Mazda as a company. If I had the people from Mazda USA to work with all the time I probably would have never looked elsewhere.

On another note, Woodbine Toyota is going to be one of the 1st Scion dealerships in about a years time! That is pretty exciting news!

exciting maybe from a business standpoint, however its pretty lame news IMO. the scion brand offers about the lamest cars second to kia and even some of the new kias look pretty sharp. the scion thing is all about big chrome wheels and audio systems.

the only time ive seen them in motorsports was that celebrity race thing and that was so aweful it gave me the shits.

a guy i go to school with bought his wife one of those xB's. its some special "Dubb edition" or something gay like that. Its got 22" chrome wheels on a car based off of an echo, designed after a cardboard box. He says its the biggest regret. the cost was out of this world and he wouldnt be caught dead it in.

sure, they are putting in their newish 2.4L into them all now (which is a good move. thats a really decent engine) but its slow as a standard power automatic rx8 (thats a joke of course), could be outhandled by a semi, and has a stopping distance that would make a 1500 chevy seem impresive.

of course, no offense to you Al. just the brand. I may one day be interested in a scion or a toyota. you know. 20-30 years down the road when my hair is turning grey. lol

Okay, 1st thing is Kafka dont bother writing any letters not worth the time or aggravasion. 2nd the Scion thing is all about branding and a following which I think is cool. 3rd I just picked up my 2010 Tundra SR5 Double Cab with the 5.7 IForce engine and 6spd auto. This is 381HP and 401 Ft Lbs of torque.
This 5400Lbs truck is faster than my Speed 6 was! I turned off the traction control and it smoked the rear tires to the rev limiter in 1st gear! All be it the Tundra is boring looking, the thing doesnt have a creak squeak or groan in it and once i order my next truck..........I know what to order now I love it! lol Imagine that engine in an RX8 or RX7 race car..........Oh by the way its all aluminum too!

When i worked at toyota we installed a TRD supercharger on one when they first came out for some TRD rep or something like that. the truck had every thing on it allready, TRD exhaust and all that. TRD claims the truck would make 505hp with the supercharger on. it was kind of funny. after the install the tech and i went for a rim. the truck was absolutely useless. way too much power and the traction control didnt realize what was going on. it was always grabbing the rear brakes trying to keep the truck straight and it ended up being really slow off the line because of it. turn off the traction control and it just sits there and spins and wouldnt move even with mid throttle. crusing at 60km/h, drop the hammer and it would brake loose no problem (with the trac off). So Al, make sure you get one of thsoe on the truck too, you know, so you arent late for work or anything. haha. BTW, the kit cost like 12 grand plus install!!!!!!!!

I just want to say good things about you so they can feel bad...albeit they probably dont give a fck...

Your truck is fast on a straightline only :P so wait...you started already or Dec 1st???

I have been there quite a few times already but officially start on Monday. I really dont think Mazda would care if you wrote the letter, so dont waste your time.

No way it's faster than the Speed6. Best I've seen for that combo is 14.9 at 94mph, which is similar to my new Ram with 390hp and 407ftlbs. Nissan and GM have good motors too in this power range, though the GM is the biggest pig MPG wise, while Ford has no competitive V8's.

But a powerful V8 is neat, I have duals on my Hemi and it sounds sweat. But I'm still happiest with my renny...

I have had 5 Mazdaspeed 6's over the last 3 years. While on the drag strip under ideal conditions, melting clutches trying to launch them, hurts gearboxes trying to flat foot shift them etc, they might pull off a good ET. In the stop light grand prix the Tundra would leave it sitting there up to about 70 mph at least.
