View Full Version : Body Kit....
ChristInBen 10-24-2009, 12:18 AM Hey guys,
I was thinking of saving up for a decent body kit for my 8 next summer. Of course, I would love a MazdaSpeed kit, but I hear they are extremely expensive. Does anyone know how much a MazdaSpeed kit would run....any good deals?
If not MazdaSpeed, then how much would the Aero kit run? (I would need the rear valences, side skirts and front lip....I already have the rear spoiler.)
Lastly, failing both those, what is a good (dependable) aftermarket body kit to get....preferably on EBay?
Thanks and God bless you guys. :)
Ben.

RX8sd 10-24-2009, 12:40 AM I heard the auto bahn company had fitment issues, :dunno: but I guess all replicas bodykits are going to
2hit6 10-24-2009, 01:06 AM I have a ms front bumper...worth every penny...strong recommend you don't cheap out for the quality...

RyansRx8 10-24-2009, 03:44 AM Mazdaspeed or auto bahn...which has already been said...this thread is smart soo far :)
rotarygreg 10-24-2009, 07:02 AM ben, check scarborough mazda for the best price you'll get on the mazdaspeed kit. i also recommend the mazdaspeed kit. it fits perfect right out of the box and comes painted. it may look on paper like its more expensive than other kits. but when you factor in painting the kit and all the time the body shop will charge you to get a cheaper kit to fit right, it all works out to the same price give or take. plus, the paint and fitment on the speed kits is OEM quality. its really impressive actually. ditto for the aero kit. scarborough mazda can help you out.

ChristInBen 10-24-2009, 12:23 PM Thank Greg, I'll do that. :) Does anyone else have any experience with knockoff body kits from EBay (that they sell for around $500) about quality? Any recommendations?
REV-illusions 10-26-2009, 09:27 AM ummm... they're fine... as long as you don't mind spending another $400+ on getting the fitment right... usually those kits are just copies of the original with a slight variation for legal purposes. Normally what you end up with in those cases is a bumper with shrinkage or warping which needs to be corrected at the time of installment to ensure that it lines up correctly.
RevRx8 10-28-2009, 12:07 PM i agree with rotarygreg and 2hit6.
i have the ms kit and it's great, Its storng, and it fits right out of the box.
some aftermarket kits as soon as a rock hits it, it cracks.
go with mazdaspeed bro you'll love it
Thief 10-28-2009, 02:24 PM No, don't get Mazdaspeed. Too many people have them already.
Jedi54 10-28-2009, 02:35 PM I heard the auto bahn company had fitment issues, :dunno: but I guess all replicas bodykits are going to
nope, Auto bahn actually fits quite well out of the box but with like all aftermarket kits, it might require some fitment work.
I have a ms front bumper...worth every penny...strong recommend you don't cheap out for the quality...
+1
MS usually comes pre-painted, fits extremely well and is made of great material
Thank Greg, I'll do that. :) Does anyone else have any experience with knockoff body kits from EBay (that they sell for around $500) about quality? Any recommendations?
avoid ebay knockoffs. By the time you pay to get the kit fitted, prepped, and painted, you'd probably be better off with original parts.
rx 8speciale 10-28-2009, 02:41 PM you can buy the mazdaspeed front bumper that will fit perfect and buy some replicas sidesskirts and rear lower bumper to save some money
Jedi54 10-28-2009, 03:06 PM the replica MS rear looks terrible. A local here had it, couldn't stand the fitment.
