So I have a computer in my car that I use for navigation, music and to monitor my engine performance. It's quite a rig, but I'm concerned about getting a virus on it. Shoudl I be? I do access the internet on this computer.

Im thinking I need to be sure I am properly protected with an antiviurs progam cause I think I caught a couple a viruses last month. So after some reaserach, I've came to the conclusion that Cyberdefender and Panda seem to be the best out there.

My uncle uses Panda anti-virus, but some forums online have listed Cyberdefender as ones they liked, as well as a good review or two on Panda.

I do know Cyberdefender is a public company, but is it a good anti-virus program?

Can anyone recommend others that I should look at?

 

I'm not really familiar with either, but is this machine an XP machine? If so #1 is keeping all up to date on the updates. I personally use nod 32 and like it for my antivirus. I'm not sure about carPCs in particular but this is what I use for personal PCs and work PCs. Oh, and if you do go on the internet, Firefox and Noscript plug-in.

AVG has worked for me without any issues for YEARS

I hear nod32 is great, along with Kaspersky.

 

I liked Avast better than AVG. But, I've just switched from Avast to Microsoft Security Essentials.

 

Avast hands down.

You should only be worried about viruses if your visiting dodgy websites or openning unknown applications. With a proper virus scanner (AVAST, AVG NOD32 e.t.c) and a decent firewall, you'll be safe.

I am a Computer tech... Clean viruses EVERY day... I use Free AVG on all my home PC's..

And BTW... it doesnt have to be a dodgy website to get infected these days.... I had a couple accountants earlier this year get infected from the IRS website! and local newspaper website.
