View Full Version : Exhaust Advice.
km1346 09-14-2009, 01:45 AM Hey everyone..
Im lookin into buying an exhaust.. Budget is around ~600 to 650
I want one which sounds louder then the Racing Beat Catback Exhaust but Less than the Agency Power Exhaust.. Also I want to make sure they don't melt my shrouds.
These are the ones i have in mind.
1. Greddy SP2... Hard to find for a good price..
2. Exotic Speed S1-T.. not sure if its too loud or not.. or if it melts shrouds..
3. Mazdaspeed Exhaust..
Give me opinions/suggestions on which one..
I dont want to spend money and then end up regretting it. :Freak_ani
Thanks everyone :ylsuper:
TheBurkeMan 09-14-2009, 01:50 AM just look those up on youtube and see which sound you like the most, and that is probably the best answer that anyone is gonna give you.
most people will just tell you to say search, cause there is a million threads on herea about this.
km1346 09-14-2009, 02:01 AM well the Exotic speed sounds great to me..
i just dont want droning...
and there are good videos on youtube and Ive been researching exhausts for a while
Im just not to sure yet..
RyansRx8 09-14-2009, 02:15 AM Some of them sound better with a midpipe! 2 for 1, better sound and more hp..I saw that new vibrant midpipe in a thread somewhere...good stuff

Although Vibrant does not make a midpipe for the RX-8, many places are using their resonator (or versions similar to it) and they are of a straight-through design. When testing different resonators we decided to NOT use the straight-through types because they did not appeal to our collective ears and they all sounded the same to us.
DarthRX8 09-14-2009, 11:36 AM If the RB is out of the picture then the MS one should be too. It is just as quiet.
Try listening to the Borla on youtube. It is suppose to be a nice exhaust with a good deep gumble, from what I have heard.
gh8st 09-14-2009, 11:38 AM borla is a good choice. greddy sp2 is louder than the ap with the same setup (midpipe).. and imo, the sp2 sounds a bit ricey with a catless midpipe. i like the sound of the rev8 as well. It all comes down to preference
The Reverend 09-14-2009, 11:54 AM Whichever way you go, if you decide you do not like what you got it is generally not that hard to swap exhausts with someone. People are always looking for something different :)
BlakOuT 09-14-2009, 12:08 PM Why not the HKS single exit exhaust? Its cheaper than the other exhaust mentioned.
gh8st 09-14-2009, 12:10 PM hks single is loooooooooooooooooouddd... haha
Spoolin8 09-14-2009, 12:14 PM I have the AP exhaust (just the catback). IMO its not overly loud and i love the way it sounds, I may gut the stock cat because i want the HP but dont want the extreme noise increase that a midpipe would give me. I had the Racing Beat on before the AP and it was way too quiet were as the AP is just right.

If you gut the cat, wouldn't it be raspy.
Spoolin8 09-14-2009, 12:25 PM Well it sounds raspy in video's with midpipes. I know if you have a stock exhaust and you gut the cat you really cant hear much of a difference. Im looking at it like this
AP with midpipe= Loud rasp
AP with gutted cat= Not as loud rasp ;)
Please correct me if im wrong
