Yep, it finally happened to me too. Thankfully I wasn't on the freeway and I could still shift gears..
Question: when taking off the clutch pedal there are like 4 bolts and you have to disconnect some switches, but how do you disconnect it from the push rod? I see a retaining ring but that's a pain to get off. Everyone made it sound so easy but I couldn't get my pedal off. Or is the push rod supposed to just come out?
Anyway, I'm looking to replace it with the BHR reinforced pedal once Charles gets back to me with the pricing info...
Oh yeah, I called my Mazda dealer about this and get this.. Mazda considers the clutch pedal to be a wear item. REALLY! Because it's so poorly engineered that it breaks so often? So, I asked them, what's the maintenance schedule for that? Replace every 100k miles? What about the brake pedal? Is that going to snap if I press my brake too many times? :rollingla

there should be only 3 bolts (left, right, and the top one), and there is a plastic one located at the bottom.
to remove the switches, one u twist it off, the other one you slide it off.
After that, you should be able to just pull the bracket out with 1 finger.

I just submitted my complaint to the NHTSA. I hope everyone that has had this issue files a complaint with them so Mazda can own up to their shoddy clutch pedal engineering.

So that push rod that goes into the cylinder will come out with it? Or how do I disconnect that?

My clutch has started squeaking when the car is still cold, I have a feeling my clutch might break soon

It'll just come right out.

Squeaking can also be from that spring and a light grease will take care of that.
But while you're up there, check for signs of tearing/failure around the spot weld.
