Much appreciated everyone!

Sean - Nothing special on the grill, just soap, water and the spray on wax at the car wash.

L&L - That would be fantastic! Think I could squeeze my 8 into my carry on. :D

Xdeed - Hopefully, if I can get a hold of Jason, I'll be heading back over to the RX8Store to finish the dyno runs this weekend. We'll post the results then. Until then, the RX8Stores' Magnaflows are a rumblin'! :D

Wendy-

You're on! I could use a summer break right now... Friggin' -30 wind chill yesterday morning.

I think I'm going to try the cheap-o grill treatment and see how I like it for a couple days... I love the fact if I don't like it, it's just $10 & temporary. Since you're nearby maybe I can help you with you're when you're ready. Maybe we should start a suburbs-really-damn-far-from-chicago RX8 club : )

Do you mind if I post some *** photoshoped images of your car *** ? It would look really great with only mazdaspeed type body side molding.

Thanks.

Maximus - Please do, I think that would be great! Can't wait to see how they will turn out!

Jerry - I have the hood, fender, front bumper, aero, mirror, and light kits being applied this Fri. morning. I will repost with pics of the completed project hopefully this weekend. Weather Pending of course. In Columbus, you never know what'll happen. :)

Noah - 'ATC IV' are my initials - I'm fourth generation from Italy - My father, 'ATC III', bought those plates for me when I turned 16. (14 years ago for those who are counting) - I didn't like them at first but over the years they grew on me - After he passed four years ago I decided never to get rid of them.

Maximus - Great job on the photoshop! Looks really good! Any other tricks up your sleeve?!?

Zoomerx8 - Nothing to the interior as of yet. I am very happy with it the way that it is. Though a single amplified ten in the trunk isn't outside the realm of possibilty. :D

success07
01-09-2004, 11:26 AM
FairladyZ - Thanks for the compliment. Have you had an opportunity to check out the colors of the RX8 up close? Every color is quite amazing, especially in the sunlight. The internet doesn't do these colors justice at all. They are much more awesome in person.

I had never considered yellow before this car. Not even close but the first time I saw the RX8 in yellow, I was hooked. It was a different yellow from the ones that I had seen before. There isn't as much orange in it as compared to the others that I've seen. Swing by a Mazda dealership on a sunny day and check out the colors I know you be impressed.

RX - jimenez: How did my avatar end up on your post? :)

Jhouse

YELLOW YELLOW YELLOW........
GOD I LOVE THAT COLOR.. I am going to have to buy another yellow 8 as long as they don't kill that color on us.

success07
01-09-2004, 01:32 PM
Is that etched in stone, Jhouse? I remember someone mentioning that it was going to be discontinued in another thread but I haven't heard the official word. Anyone hear any different?

If they did, I wouldn't be that crushed because it would make mine that much more exclusive. I remember that the dealer told me that they were only getting 7 out of their first 115 RX8's in yellow. Mostly Titanium and Red from what I see on the lot.

NAVILESRX8
01-09-2004, 02:49 PM
Just like the FD.......Yellow was a hot color. Then they killed it.

Funny it seems everybody wants a yellow one, but they never actually buy one. Like myself. I love yellow, but didn't want to attract all the cops.

red_rx8_red_int
01-09-2004, 10:19 PM
Great pics. Thank you very much for posting. I have the same configuration in red, but thought about yellow and blue also. Although I love my red 8 and have no regrets, you can't go wrong with the yellow either. Sweeeet!

Great photochop also. Seeing the side to side comparision, I am very happy that I went with the appearance with front mud guards instead of the speed side piece. The speed is OK, but as some people as called the look of the 8 as "bubbly", the out-in-out of the guard/appearance adds to the bubbliness IMHO.

success07
01-10-2004, 09:27 AM
Just an FYI everyone - I had the Clear-Guard Paint and Lighting Protection (search for thread) applied yesterday and it looks amazing! I paid $175+tax for the complete install of the hood, mirrors, fenders, bumper, lights, and appearance spoiler. Unless you look very closely there is no way to tell that its even there.

There is only 2 days left for Clear-Guards 25% Discount so if you're thinking of having it done I would suggest that you PM him or call ASAP. I highly recommend the product at this point based on fit and finish but the proof is in the pudding. A chip free front end by this time next year.

I'm not as nervous riding behind semi's or big trucks anymore thinking that I'm going to get pelted with rock chips! I will post pics as soon as soon as it gets warm enough to put the car in soap and water.

FairladyZ
01-12-2004, 02:31 PM

Success07 I was wondering if we could get together so I could see your car. I live is Columbus also and planing on getting a RX-8 this summer. The car I envisioned has the same options as your's(6 speed, appearance package, rotary accents and rear wing). I have been trying to find a yellow RX-8 with the appearance package everywhere and no luck. I hope I get a chance to see that car of your's it look great in the pic's!

Neither of us has our E-mail on this webpage. I tried to get yours through the administrator with no luck. If you have any idea to safely get in contact with each other without posting on this threat it would be great.

I just wanted to post a couple of video clips that I took of my 8 getting some dyno time after the installation of my RX8Store Exhaust. They were originally digital video that I transferred into an mpeg, so the video quality isn't the greatest but you'll enjoy the sounds I'm sure.

Jason & Xavier from the RX8Store as well as Sea Ray (all the way from Kentucky) were there for the fun. Special thanks to RX-8Freehk who put these into a format that the forum would take. There is one more video that is still trying to make it's way back from Germany where Freehk is at but enjoy these for now.

Very nice, Yellow is definately a striking color. How does that exhaust sound? I can get the Borla at cost, which is way cheaper than $600 they are asking on Ebay, and I am pretty confident Borla is the best. My friend has a Z-car and he just gained 23-hp with a true-dual borla and it sounds amazing. Does this compare to Borla? What was the price also?

well, most people that put an exhaust on a $30,000 dollor car are looking for performance increase's and dont care about sound, but in truth... The Greddy is only LOUD when you get on it, can hear the stereo very well at level 7 going about 120 down the autobahn :)

success07, I don't think I've run across your dyno results yet (other than these really nice vid's). Where's the beef? Er, I mean, where's the numbers? :)

Really nice pix from all contributors in this thread, btw! Real nice. You've gotten my interest renewed in Clear Bra again. ...Gotta do that...

Oh yeah, RX8freehk's caliper paint job is just so perfect! If I had yellow, I would jump on that one real quickly. I can't believe how closely that paint matched!

And one more thing (I think) (I really enjoyed reading thru this whole thread btw, lots of good vibes :) ) thanks for putting those two exhaust sound clips right together like that. For that reason, I was able to get both going simultaneously, for a really good comparison. I think what I'm doing is waiting on Stage 2, really, and more results on which exhaust matches stage 2 real well for non-racing, not-too-darn-loud use. Really, I dunno what I really want quite yet, but I so like the sound of both Greddy SP2 and Borla about equally well. Those Borla flames are a trip! Wow! I think Greddy is more muted, deeper throaty sounding, agreed? I like that deep throaty sound, but not too deep and throaty. It's gotta sound like it can breath real easily too. (My stage 1 is on order. The Stage 2 upgrade is in my future, I think, maybe not real soon, maybe sooner than even I think, who knows...:D)

(My stage 1 is on order. The Stage 2 upgrade is in my future, I think, maybe not real soon, maybe sooner than even I think, who knows...:D)

Racer - LOL - The "Where's the beef?" commercials take me back to grade school. Thanks for that little trip. :)

I haven't posted dyno charts as of yet because I don't have any readily available. They are saved at the RX8Store on their dyno machine. I am planning to head over there sometime soon, so maybe I can get them then.

If you're still on the fence with exhausts, I have a write up on the RX8Store Exhaust if you do a search and maybe that will help lean you in a certain direction. Plenty out there to choose from but this one works great for me. Price, quality, looks and sound made the decision for me. Have fun and Good Luck!

I really like the sound of yours on the dyno. I think an exhaust (the engine, really) sounds so much better when under a load, I think just about anyone would agree with that. Anyway, yeah guy, your RX8Store sounds very nice. The price is great too, for sure. I think I'll just sit in this catbird seat for a while. Who knows just what may come of it. Great work on your car! Keep it clean. ;)

"I had never considered yellow before this car. Not even close but the first time I saw the RX8 in yellow, I was hooked. It was a different yellow from the ones that I had seen before".....

I hear ya brother....my normal approach would have been silver/grey but when I saw this car sitting on the showroom floor it was a done deal....nice job on the clearcoat front, I've got to get my arse in gear on that.

White paint is offered in Japan, there are a few pics of them floating around if you look hard enough.

Success, brilliant job. Outstanding. I've gone through this topic several times and have read every reply - you've got yourself an awesome car. Thanks for posting all the brilliant pictures and movies.

I've been following the RX-8 for a couple years now and have been a fan of the RX-7 as well. I'm only 16 (and just recently got my first car, a '95 Mitsubishi Eclipse) but I'm planning on getting an RX-8 one day some time down that long road of life.

Thanks again :)

So many different yellows out there. what does it actually look like. every PC monitor is different. Is there another car (or several) that you can compare it to to give me a better idea of what it actually looks like. My Mazda dealer is about 214 miles away. if the yellow is nice i will reserve the car but if it is a creamy yellow (as it appears to me in these pics) i will then go for blue or silver.

Thoughts?

written b4 i bought it

Berni: I think pictures definitely make the yellow 8's look less bright and more "creamy" than they actually are. I was frustrated because every pic I took of my car made it look a lot more dull than it actually is. I played around in an image editing program for a while and figured out that by increasing color saturation I could make the yellow stand out a little more (and therefore come closer to what I believe they look like in person). I posted them here:

http://www.rx8club.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22511

Anyone agree and/or have this same problem when taking pics of the yellow?

Durahl

ps: noticed that you got the Yellow yourself, so you must have had a chance to see it in person :)

Mikeb - You are correct!!

JSE - I got all of them from Ebay - All are made by AutoArt. I am very pleased with how well each size turned out. Very accurate - 1.18, 1.43, 1.64

Oh my god guys yellow is sweet!! pics like those make it hard
to pick between that and titanium! And for you yellas out
there, you are absolutely right, pics don't give the color justice.

My only tiebreaker so far is if i get a house, yellow it is. If i'm
still in a apartment, titanium. (for garage reasons) :p

I bought my yellow 8 about a month ago and was planning to just do minor appearance mods like clears, strakes, and front mud guards but after watching that borla video, i gotta get myself that too! How did that guy in the video get flames to come out of his exhaust?????

Just received my Lightning Yellow RX-8 RC Car today. Quick for a little thing and it has a RX-8 tire and rim for a steering wheel. Got it off of Ebay for $20. Just another to add to my collection I guess. I'll post some pics soon.
