So Im pretty sure my original one broke. I replace the battery in it and still doesn't work. Can I get one like this on ebay?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/06-07-08-2005-2006-2007-2008-2009-MAZDA-RX8-KEY-REMOTE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14Q QhashZitem45ed145e93QQitemZ300330278547QQptZMotors Q5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

IF not, where can I get one like the original?

I've got a fob that I can send you. You would need to get a new key and get it cut.

$35

I bought the same one off ebay from a vendor called Transponder Island. My 8 is an 04 model did not have the switchblade key but all I had to do was program the key transponder, get the key blank cut (took it to a real locksmith rather than the kid at a hardware store), and had to program the remote as well. All the programming instructions were included from where I purchased it. Not hard at all.

If you already have the switchblade key, you can remove the key from the old remote and put it in the new, not sure if you need to program the transponder in the key itself or not (because I am not sure if it is located in the key or inside the remote itself).

Did you pay close to the one I showed up top?

Sorry for late reply but I actually paid a bit more than that. At the time the going rates on ebay were around $65, they must have come down since.

Hate to bring up probably an old thread, but will this work on an 04?

Edit: Reading comprehension was not my forte, re-read the thread and found the answer

I got 2 new fobs for my 04 2 years ago for something like $35 each. I just did a check on google and the cheapest I could find was $54 each. There's a DIY on how to program them and they should come with instructions if you purchase them anyway. Just google "kpu41805". That's the FCC code on the back of the fob and how it's identified.
